With Photobucket "kicking the bucket" and giving us such gentle warnings like these:

I've decided to create an organized list of Image Hosting websites I've found around online for the desperate Gaians out there in order to help them migrate (or not) to other more reliable and cheaper services.
But I'm open to suggestions from the Gaia community too, which'll all be added to the list below and be deservedly credited. wink
Don't forget to check first and foremost the TOS of the image hoster you wanna sign up!
Also, some things:
~ Check out the related thread below:
-AND-
- Want to thank/compliment me or call my attention to something ?
- Found anything wrong or out of the place in this thread, like misleading links or images not loading properly ?
- Or just wanna give me some suggestion(s) ?
~ Copy the code below instead of quoting the whole thread, thank you.

Some spoons:
gaia_spoons Have you been affected by PhotoBucket's new hosting rules ? If so, what happened ? Did you lost your images or else ?
gaia_spoons Do you think PB's charging $400 yearly to host images on other places is abusive ? Justify your answer.
gaia_spoons Do you have backups of your images in other websites or external hardware ? If so, tell us how many.
gaia_spoons Will you keep using PB despite everything that happened ? If so, have you already migrated to other image hoster(s) ?
gaia_spoons What are your thoughts on the Imgur's rule which prohibits using this image hoster as a personal CDN (content delivery network) in order to avoid overload of their servers ? (see Free Image Hosting Services > Imgur's spoiler for details)
gaia_spoons Will you keep using image hosters in the future or rely on only art sites to promote your work ? (deviantART, ArtStation, Furry Network, Tumblr and so on)

Free Image Hosting Services:

Paid Image Hosting Services:

Other/Improvised Image Hosting Services:

News & Updates:

Why TinyPic isn't in your list ?

Thanks for Cherry Adagio for the heads up. wink
Oh, and here's another reason not to use Imgur:
Notice of Data Breach - Imgur Blog (also referenced in haveibeenpwned.com "Pwned websites" Section)
tl;dr - Imgur has been seriously compromised by hackers during the time they used old algorithms back in 2014 (and only now, November 24th, they're saying this, sigh), which is kinda of a "deja-vu" compared to what happened to the famous furry site "FurAffinity" one or two years ago and hence it would be best to either change everything in your account or move to another and safier image hoster!
Imgbb.com
I myself use this one nowadays. Has a clean interface, it's fast, reliable, simple and practical.
NickPicHost
An image hoster dedicated to artists, roleplayers and designers which, surprise, surprise, is also accepting donations.
I strongly recommend this hoster to all Gaia artists out there!
This was a great suggestion by:
Thanks, Graceangel! biggrin
PostImage.Org
Other good suggestion.
CubeUpload
An "obscure" but also agile image hoster like Imgbb. I've used it, and it does its job right. smile
It lives on donations, so, if you're feeling yourself generous and liked from this service or is planning to stick around with PB and pay $400 dollars yearly to link your stuff on other sites, consider joining this site and donate to its hard working staff instead.
ImageVenue
Another "obscure" image hoster which allows you to upload NSFW content.
Imgbox
Imgbox is a free service with more than 7 years of history, empowering people to upload, share and enjoy images online.
Hosting millions of files requires massive resources and it simply became too big for our previous hosting platform to handle.
We are pleased to announce we have partnered with a new team that have extensive experience in large-scale hosting, our new gen hardware enables us to continue to provide the high standard of service that you are used to, while preparing us for many billions of files into the future.
Sincerely,
The Team.
Allows:
Hotlinking
Super blazing fast
10MB maximum file size
Simple interface
Unlimited storage space
Unlimited storage time
A good and agile image hoster suggested by Queenie the Xenomorph.
vgy.me
Looks like a good image hoster, almost similar to imgBB, and also allows screenshot uploading through ShareX.
Servimg.com
An image hoster suggested by Eridonis with some rigid TOS measures. Thanks anyway. smile
puush
Thanks for the suggestion, Siin Adonai. smile
Imagens Brasil
This is a Brazilian image hoster for, of course, the Brazilian Gaians out there! wink
FreeImageHosting.net
An "all-American" image hoster.
ImageTitan
A free image hoster which focus on multiple/batch image uploading.
Unfortunately, this hoster was removed from my list due to the following line on their TOS:

Using HTML code to share or add an image from Imgur to another site, forum, or friend is fine.
You cannot, however, use Imgur as the CDN for your entire site/blog/forum’s image base. Powering headers, banners, buttons, avatars, etc. might be examples of ways to not use Imgur.
Imgur is not designed to be a content delivery network (CDN), which is what is meant by the line in the TOS, that reads “Don’t use Imgur to host image libraries you link to from elsewhere, content for your website, advertising, avatars, or anything else that turns us into your content delivery network.” Hope that helps a bit.

This sort of hosting is allowed under their TOS. Just not images that are loaded as part of your theme, or avatars. If you're posting and hosting images for sharing in a thread (for instance) that would be fine according to their TOS. They just don't want to play host to images or things that are loaded a every single time you load a page like parts of your theme, signature, avatars, etc.

Avatars aren't allowed.
The difference between a shared photo posted in a thread and an avatar is one is going to load on every page you've posted on (and occasionally more). The shared photo will only display in areas its going to display on the thread (eg the page it posted on for example)

As I was understanding it, Lord Ba'al, it's the images that load EVERY time the forum loads a page. This would be banners, avatars, and signatures, as well as any other image in the themes. Sharing images should be fine because that is only on one page.
You will also need to rehost, likely, affiliate and advertisement banners. At least that's what I'll be doing to be safe.

imgur's policy covers all uses in regards to forums. Basically they're saying that heavy use of their service by forums uses a lot of their bandwidth for supplying the images and they get no return to cover their costs.

This is what scares me. I opened up my own image host in response to all of this. It's growing rapidly after a clever campaign with Shadowplay. It's targeted toward the graphics makers/RPG niche and it's thriving very well. No ads yet, I just happened to have a lot of extra space on the very good hosting plan I got many years ago with BigWetFish. I wonder what will happen if I grow out of control. Imgur got out of control long ago and monetized to keep it alive, which is amazing and interesting. I ended up getting a CDN for it as well. I plan on shutting off new registrations once I foresee the growth as unsustainable.
Imgur's commercial use is only for it's API, not for massive image storage or using them as a CDN.

It isn't "incompetence" to underestimate the extent to which the Internet would flock to their service in particular. Nor is it incompetent to place reasonable restrictions on the use of their free service now that they've reached the limit of how quickly they can bring new hardware online.
"Incompetence" would be using a free hosting service without any kind of a backup and expecting the service to always be around in spite of being such a costly proposition that not even Google, Microsoft, or Apple dares offer it.

I have little sympathy for anyone who dumps their data onto a free hosting service (especially without a backup) and expects the content to just stay there forever, with no rate limits, no storage limits, no restrictions or caveats.
Let's say you open up a free image hosting service. How many servers do you buy? One? Ten? A hundred? What if you buy ten, and within a year half the Internet decides it's their prerogative to dump anything they feel like onto your free servers? Are you incompetent?
How about if you buy a hundred servers and the Internet says to hell with your free service because Google opens up free content hosting a few months later? Now you're definitely broke. Are you also incompetent?
When they started up--seven years ago--imgur had absolutely no way of predicting how popular or unpopular their service would be. They have zero control over how many people use it and what it's used for. It's free. There's no limit to how much people can and will abuse free goods and services. You and I both know that if imgur kept up its free, unrestricted service, and continued to offer low latency and high uptime, eventually the whole bloody Internet would be dumping every byte of non-commercial detritus in existence onto imgur servers.
Hence basically what you're saying is that a company like imgur is incompetent if they want to offer free hosting but they're unable or unwilling to do it for the entire Internet.
Screw that.
You want reliable service with uptime and persistence guarantees? Pay for it. imgur offers commercial packages right there on their site. Deal with capacity limits, rate limits, and all the headaches that give you the right to be ticked off when imgur goes down or decides to change their ToS. You're entitled to complain because you're paying them good money and getting a decidedly finite degree of hosting in return. That's how the real world works. That's why the miscellany on my home board is hosted off a paid service that costs me a few bucks a month. If yours is the same: good for you. If not, get it there, because one thing we can agree on is that imgur may very well say "screw it" to the whole free hosting experiment, and anyone using them as a CDN will be taking a bath.

Oh, and here's another reason not to use Imgur:
Notice of Data Breach - Imgur Blog (also referenced in haveibeenpwned.com "Pwned websites" Section)
Dear Imgurians,
On November 23, Imgur was notified of a potential security breach that occurred in 2014 that affected the email addresses and passwords of 1.7 million user accounts. While we are still actively investigating the intrusion, we wanted to inform you as quickly as possible as to what we know and what we are doing in response.
Timeline
On the afternoon of November 23rd, an email was sent to Imgur by a security researcher who frequently deals with data breaches. He believed he was sent data that included information of Imgur users. Our Chief Operating Officer received the email late night on November 23rd and immediately corresponded with the researcher to learn more about the potential breach. He simultaneously notified Imgur’s Founder/CEO and Vice President of Engineering. Our Vice President of Engineering then arranged to securely receive the data from the researcher and began working to validate that the data belonged to Imgur users.
What Information Was Involved?
Early morning on November 24th, we confirmed that approximately 1.7 million Imgur user accounts were compromised in 2014. The compromised account information included only email addresses and passwords. Imgur has never asked for real names, addresses, phone numbers, or other personally-identifying information (“PII”), so the information that was compromised did NOT include such PII.
How Did This Happen?
We are still investigating how the account information was compromised. We have always encrypted your password in our database, but it may have been cracked with brute force due to an older hashing algorithm (SHA-256) that was used at the time. We updated our algorithm to the new bcrypt algorithm last year.
What Steps Are We Taking?
On the morning of November 24th, we began notifying impacted users via their registered email address. We are immediately requiring that these users update their password. We also published this public disclosure at 4PM PST.
What Can You Do?
We recommend that you use a different combination of email and password for every site and application. Please always use strong passwords and update them frequently.
We take protection of your information very seriously and will be conducting an internal security review of our system and processes. We apologize that this breach occurred and the inconvenience it has caused you. If you have questions, we encourage you to contact us at support@imgur.com.
Sincerely,
Roy Sehgal

How much can I upload?
We do not have a limit on that.
What is the largest image can I upload?
8 MB is the maximum file size.
Is there a limit on bandwidth?
No. We don't meter an individual image's bandwidth.
Can I upload PSD files?
No. We're an image host, not a file host. If you're interested in this as a service, please contact us.
How can I make just one image private without it being in an album?
When you upload there's a padlock option next to the upload button. Click it to lock the image to be private. It will still show for site staff and yourself. The only other people who can see it are people who have the direct link, that you share.
I forgot to set my image to private, can I fix it?
As an individual image you cannot set it private, as it was marked public already. However, you can create an album and set it to private and it will hide it.
Do you allow adult content?
Yes, but, please remember to mark it as not family safe. Any images not marked family safe will either be flagged or removed. The content must be legal.
Do you utilize a CDN?
Yes, we do. We have 22 peering locations in North America and 31 in Europe. We use MaxCDN for this. We have multiple locations throughout North America, Europe and across the world. Some of our exotic locations includes Hong Kong, Australia, Singapore, Tel Aviv and Tokyo. So, your visitors from across the world can enjoy the same snazzy speed you do!
Can you add a peer in Australia?
Australia is a peer now.
Do you have Premium features?
No. All features for all members are exactly equal. No one gets a preference over the other. If you're a registered member, we like you. We do not want to block features off to paid members, if we're valuable enough to a user we feel a user would donate if they are able to. If you want a premium/pro account, you can donate and say you donated to us. However, we don't give special privileges to donors.
Do you make a profit?
No. We don't profit or generate any income from this site. We do accept donations, they however are not necessary. Anything earned goes to
Do you have advertisements?
You may have noticed your ad blocker is blocking... Nothing! 0% of this site contains paid advertisements. We do not have ads on your images or redirect your links to our site. Your links are your links. As long as we can afford to pay for this service, your content will be untouched.
Will my direct links be redirected to a viewer page?
No. Your direct links will go straight to your image.
Who owns the image I upload?
According to our Terms of Service, you do! You just grant us a license to host it and show it to people on your behalf. But, you can remove it at any time, and revoke that license!
Isn't an image host kind of expensive to run? Who is paying for it?
Yes. It can be. This is why we have a transparent Cost of Service page. The Cost of Service page will be updated as the costs of this host changes. Thus far, 100% of all payments have been made by Nick, our founder.
How can I be listed on the partners page? Do I have to pay?
It's easy to be listed! Just Contact Us! We do not charge for this. We only list RP forums and resource forums at this time. But, we're open to ideas!

Now, vgy.me has grown to be a bit more than that, with added features such as accounts, albums, multiple file uploads, and of course - webm video support.
vgy.me is used by thousands of people around the world including the UK, USA, Russia, China, Australia, Mexico and even South Africa.
With feedback from the users, it has helped vgy.me become what it is today. And we couldn't be more proud of it.

Professional-grade everything.
We know that creating a successful photo business requires a seriously broad tool set. We give you the support and software you need to take your client interactions to the next level—making it easy for them to view, select, purchase, download, and print your images—and opportunities to build and market your brand.
In 2002, when Internet companies were collapsing right and left, we decided to start SmugMug—a safe, beautiful home for our photos. We were two passionate photographers who happened to be father and son going up against the likes of Microsoft, Yahoo!, Canon, and Kodak—but we did it anyway. We were too excited about the future of photography and technology to be reasoned with.

Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) makes it simple and practical to collect, store, and analyze data - regardless of format – all at massive scale. S3 is object storage built to store and retrieve any amount of data from anywhere – web sites and mobile apps, corporate applications, and data from IoT sensors or devices. It is designed to deliver 99.999999999% durability, and has many customers each storing billions of objects and exabytes of data. You can use it for media storage and distribution, as the “data lake” for big data analytics, as a backup target, and as the storage tier for serverless computing applications. It is ideal for capturing data like mobile device photos and videos, mobile and other device backups, machine backups, machine-generated log files, IoT sensor streams, and high-resolution images, and making it available for machine learning to other AWS services and third party applications for analysis, trending, visualization, and other processing.

Ah, yes, Tumblr. Not an image hoster per se but it allows hotlinking straight from your Tumblr page. It's mostly favored by drawing artists, both traditional and digital. It allows NSFW content too.
However, be careful of "SJWs" and the "politically correct" people there, which belongs to the "toxic" minority of Tumblr. For the most "right" and "noble" reasons possible (hardy har har), they'll ruin your life. Oh, and they bite too, more than your average kindred kin.

Tumblr debuted in February of 2007 as part blogging tool, microblogging tool and social community. It's extremely easy to use and works on every mobile operating system.
In early 2017, there were a reported 341 million Tumblr blogs and billion of blog posts.
Each user has his or her own Tumblelog where they can publish short posts of text, images, quotes, links, video, audio and chats. You can even reblog a Tumblr post that was published on another user's Tumblelog with the click of the mouse, just as you might retweet content to share it on Twitter.

Flickr
Flickr - almost certainly the best online photo management and sharing application in the world - has two main goals:
1. We want to help people make their photos available to the people who matter to them.
Maybe they want to keep a blog of moments captured on their cameraphone, or maybe they want to show off their best pictures or video to the whole world in a bid for web celebrity. Or maybe they want to securely and privately share photos of their kids with their family across the country. Flickr makes all these things possible and more!
To do this, we want to get photos and video into and out of the system in as many ways as we can: from the web, from mobile devices, from the users' home computers and from whatever software they are using to manage their content. And we want to be able to push them out in as many ways as possible: on the Flickr website, in RSS feeds, by email, by posting to outside blogs or ways we haven't thought of yet. What else are we going to use those smart refrigerators for?
2. We want to enable new ways of organizing photos and video.
Once you make the switch to digital, it is all too easy to get overwhelmed with the sheer number of photos you take or videos you shoot with that itchy trigger finger. Albums, the principal way people go about organizing things today, are great -- until you get to 20 or 30 or 50 of them. They worked in the days of getting rolls of film developed, but the "album" metaphor is in desperate need of a Florida condo and full retirement.
Part of the solution is to make the process of organizing photos or videos collaborative. In Flickr, you can give your friends, family, and other contacts permission to organize your stuff - not just to add comments, but also notes and tags. People like to ooh and ahh, laugh and cry, make wisecracks when sharing photos and videos. Why not give them the ability to do this when they look at them over the internet? And as all this info accretes as metadata, you can find things so much easier later on, since all this info is also searchable.

This thread is now featured on Gaia's frontpage!
Thanks, it amy!
I've also took the opportunity to fix some of the spelling and wording.
Edit from October 12th of 2017:
More clarification about the "Imgur TOS" controversy and the "old" PostImage has been edited out. Also, some more image hosters were added.
Edit from December 3rd of 2017:
I've added another GOOD reason to stay away from Imgur - Notice of Data Breach - Imgur Blog
Edit from March 27th of 2018:
Finally got some spare time to update this thread. The changes are:
- "New" nagging PB ad image on the main post;
- Spoons for discussion;
- "News and Updates" section has been revamped;
- Added ImageShack to the "Paid Image Hosting Services" section and also two new hosters to the "Free Image Hosting Services" section;
- I've fixed some spelling here and there.
Edit from March 13th of 2020:
- Removed "imglnx" from the list since it's offline;
- Moved Backblaze from the "Paid Hosters" list to the "Other/Improvised Hosters" list;
- Added some TOS links to certain services;
- Fixed some broken links.
I've got an answer from Lanzer himself regarding this whole Photobucket "fiasco".
You can read it here - Will the "whitelist" of image hosters allowed in Gaia Online be updated and/or new hosters will be added to it after the whole "Photobucket" fiasco ?
Another Very, Very Important Edit from 2017:
Will Gaiaonline be having an "Upload & Image Hosting" Feature?
Other edit from 2017:
Can someone confirm is TinyPic is having issues too ? - TinyPic issues report
Just now edit from 2017:
While I was editing and organizing this very post, guess what happened ? - Staff Alert: Notice involving image hosting
Gotta love Gaia sometimes. smile I've also took the opportunity to organize this thread and fix some of the spelling and wording.
Edit from July 27th of 2017:
Sadly, Imgur has been removed from the "Free Image Hosting Services" section of my list.
Here's why - What do the ToS mean by “don’t use Imgur to host image libraries you link to from elsewhere”?
Edit from August 7th of 2017:
Thanks for the 100 votes, folks, and also for all the positive votes. biggrin

Why TinyPic isn't in your list ?
Be careful when using TinyPic! These links will show you why:
tl;dr: Both TinyPic and Photobucket are operated by the same people.
Therefore, in respect to Gaia's Community, I won't be adding this image hoster to my list.
