Welcome to Gaia! ::

Wild Unicorn

Elle shrugged. "I don't know, I think that you can read and it makes you know more than most people, so that makes you smart too. You seem as smart as the elf children north of here! Maybe you could come to the treehouses sometime, and meet my elf friends."

Hugging Nyoka, Kia just grinned more. "Thankyou, and he is the best person in the world. So you have got to be maid of honor. ...please?"

"My child she'll outlive as well, and she took her. She took her, and her things, and everything to do with her, and forgot about us. Her other two family, her other daughter, her FIANCEE. I love my Winny as much as my Elle, she had no right to take her."
Damien is growing a little shier again. It is almost as if Elle is staring at his scales, at least this feeling he has is the same. "Maybeone day I will. Rhiannon was teaching me to climb trees when we were younger," he says. "Maybe I could make it into the treehouses."

Nyoka blinks. Oh gods, another wedding. . . . "Uhm, sure, Kia," she says, smiling nervously. Wait, maid of honor? Isn't that some important thing on the bride's side. "Kia. . . . er. what do the maids of honor do?"

"Neith, I know it hurts, believe me," Lenore says. "But, I am sure you will still see Winny. Right now, though, you have Elle to tend to. You have to work through that pain, let it make you stronger. For her sake. She needs a lot of love right now. Trust me, this is just as hard for her as it is you. She's going to need you with her for a long time to come."

Wild Unicorn

"You could do it, there are ladders you can climb. The treehouses are pretty, and when you get up there, there are stairs and things. Elves have built a lot in the year they lived here."

Kia blinked. What did maid of honors do? "Uh... well, pretty dresses... and stuff."

"She would have let me say goodbye if she wanted me to still see Winny. That's my girl, they have, those ******** kitten eating monsters. What if they turn her into one too, what if they make her a vampire?"
"It all sounds very interesting," Damien says, glancing up at Elle. "They speak english there, right? I am still only learning the language, I don't think I could have a chat with them. . . ."

"Ah, dresses," Nyoka smiles a little. She's accustomed to them, by now, but prefers not to wear them at all costs. "I suppose this means I get to help you pick the dress you are going to wear. . . ?"

Lenore doesn't know how to respond to Neith. Instead, she sighs, and runs her fingers through her hair. She chews on her lower lip a moment, before saying. "Right now, Neith, I suggest you put all your energy into raising Elle. I am sure that Kochi will let you see Winny as much as you like. You are her mother too. And Kochi is Elle's mother. Both of them need both of you. Now," she says, chewing on her lip again, and feeling as though she has not helped matters at all. "I think I should get you home. You need to go and see your daughter. She is so sad right now. She is trying to be brave, but she has had her mother and sister taken away without a word, and you have been gone for days. How do you think that is making her feel?"

Wild Unicorn

"They speak english too, because I am not as good at it either. So you would be fine." Elle replied, looking back at him. "But they would help you with that too."

Kia blinked, and nodded. But then she pouted just a tiny bit, and muttered, "Why can I not just go naked? Naked wedding! Clothes are stupid anyway, if it is summer."

Neith sighed, and nodded. "I know, I've got to go home. Elle was with Kia, and the elves, she wasn't alone. I'd never leave her alone."

Dear Diary.

...Well, I'm home. Valentine's day is over, we went to a big Gaian ball a few days later, and I think Elle is glad I'm home. It's all routine now, do this, this and this in the morning, then this, and this, and this, and I suppose that's what I'll have to get used to, right? Single parents don't get much time for themselves.

I love Elle, I just feel like... I guess I miss Winny as well. I know Elle's quiet and calm, but she must feel something about the loss of her sister, right? Maybe she's got friends she can confide in?

So anyway. Now that I'm writing here, I guess I should also add that stupid letter. Honestly, what was Kochi thinking? Leaving and hurting us is a sign of love?

I don't know if I can forgive her. And I don't know ... well, at the moment, I don't know how Elle is feeling.

It was pitch black around this inn. Only the passing of cars, occasional and bright at this late hour, lit up the darkness surrounding the building, even the pink and purple fluorescent 'INN' and 'BAR' light that buzzed in the deathly quiet night seemly unable to pierce the dark more than a few feet.

Elle crouched outside just behind a tree. It was 2am according to her watch, and like every night, she wasn't tired. She felt like being near living people though and this bar was full of them. Drunken adults, badly played music, but what was interested Elle was how they left. Some stumbled out into the dark world without a care, as if unaware that the night could be holding dangers. Some did seem to know, and were a lot ediger about either getting to cars, or waiting for taxis. And some wandered home alone, glancing over their shoulders as if expecting some sort of wild beast to jump on them.

She noticed one young man coming out, probably an elf from the style of clothing. Without thinking, Elle started to stalk him from the darkness of the forest. Beside her, was Enid. The kreature seemed to prod her legs, urge her on, tell her to keep going or when to stop, teaching her how to hunt this elf. Elle felt odd, having no compulsion to stop, this seemed to agree with something inside of her. The dark night, overcast sky hiding any trace of stars or moon, occasional rain, and the hunting of an elf.

They were so close. A few feet. Not far... not far to go...

And then that elf vanished.

Elle paused from behind a bush, headwings twitching. Where did he go? She took a few soft steps forward and found herself being tapped on the shoulder. "Elle? ...what are you doing here?!"

Elle jumped, and fell over headfirst into the bush. Sheepishly, she crawled out and stared up at Braeden. One of Neith's elves. "Um... I can't sleep?"

Braeden raised an eyebrow, but he didn't ask anymore. "All right. Well, come on, I'll take you home."

Nodding, pale face going red, Elle allowed the elf to take her home again.

That evening, there were two people deep in thought. One pre-teen girl, and one stressed out Neith.

Only, they were thinking entiralyl different thoughts.

Elle sat in front of the computer, typing. Not just typing... she was typing a diary entry. A real one this time.

Quote:
Dear Diary
Okay, this is my computer diary and I think itll work to keep Mommy away because I love her but i dont want her to come read my diary and I know she will. So i wrote a fake entry and amde it all kiddish and stuff and I tried to tell her that i want to go to school normally like most kids do. shes always wanting me to be normal and elf and Im not, so I want to go to a school and be normal that way. Maybe Winny will be in a normal school somewhere.
This computer has a password on it like we agreed I could have and I save it into this website called greatestjournal with another password so that Mommy cant get into it at all. My diary is called Ellettes_mind. I wonder if any of the other people I know have them?
Also I said I had a box called 'Elle's box' which I do but it's not special just full of pictures of things I liked in magazines. Like there was a nice picture of a thunderstorm over the ocean so I put that in there. Nothing special. I dont know where to hide things right now theres no where to hide them. And I hate having a bedroom next to Mommys bedroom.

So bored here now, I want to go see friends again.

Elle

And Neith sat upstairs in the 'study', writing in her own diary.

Quote:
Dear Diary

I've been secretly planning our move. I'm still happy about staying here, and Elle seems to like being anywhere but in this house (See below). So we're moving into town more, I think she'd like to be more social as she gets older anyway. It's not a very big house, and close enough to walk to the old land if you're feeling in the mood for a twenty minute walk.

It means that Kiah and Aquene will be sharing a bedroom unless one grows faster than the other, Elle will get the attick room all to herself for her study/bedroom/hangout, I've got a cosy room on the first floor next to the babie's room and there's guest's bedroom and a study/bedroom on the second floor. I need some sort of area for when Tiegan comes to stay over for weekends, Tiegan, Aurora and Kia. (I suppose Taka as well.)

It was a bit expensive, and money's getting a bit tight. So I've been searching around for second hand furnature, I've found quite a bit here and there. It's not a bad thing, I know slightly how to fix furnature. It might even be a good idea to think about renting this house out sometime later on, with all the fixed furnature?

But it should be ready to move into soon, I'm just getting the rooms ready.

Anyway, the OTHER thing.

Elle's been wandering. On her OWN. I can't believe I didn't notice, she's eben sneaking out at night. At first, when she didn't sleep, I didn't worry. I assumed she was staying indoors. She said she was sorry, but I'm not sure if she really means that, she was so ... off. I'm not sure what's wrong, other than the obvious. I mean, she's getting close to that teenage age... but teenage withdrawnness, already?! She can't even write properlly yet! (I've noticed she doesn't like to do it as much as she likes to read. Maybe it'll even out.)

I found this entry of hers, and the writing was shocking. It was in the diary I gave her. I've even found this 'Elle's box'. Nothing to worry about in there. Not even any sign of any crushes. So prehaps the wandering is just out of bordem. I'll see what moving closer to the city does, she can go shopping or something and get worn out during the day. And there's a public school there, I hope I can get Elle a place. Anything my baby wants, she can have. She just never asks, so this diary reading might work out well for the both of us?

Neith

Wild Unicorn

The walls and roof had been painted blue, and Neith had painted light purple star-like dots all over the roof with glow in the dark paint.

The furniture was an odd mix of styles, making it obvious that they were mostly second hand pieces. Neith, running a bit lower on money than she'd been used to and wanting to buy Elle some more expensive things to go with the room, had ended up going to garage sales and picked up furniture that way. She'd then fixed the furniture up herself, polishing it to at least make it look shiny.
There was a double bed, rich brown, with a little compartment inside for Elle to hide things. Antique looking drawers, complete with a painted on pattern designed to look like the old fashioned fabric covers. A set, that included a desk/shelf, a large bookshelf and two small bookshelves, a wheelie chair, a purple desk and a semi-new double seater sofa for when Elle had sleepovers. Neith had even added a pinboard next Elle's bed

And the things. Most of Elle's books had been put on the shelves, there was a brand new computer sitting on her desk, her dolls on the couch, some of Elle's toys that she hadn't been able to let Neith give to Tiegan were scattered around with some floor cushions.

But that wasn't the biggest surprise. Sitting there in the middle of the floor was a little scooter... And a PUPPY. (Who'd apparently moved since Neith tried to bribe him to sit with the scooter.)

Elle just stared at it all, Neith couldn't tell if she was impressed or not.

"The dog sucks."

"Elle, where did that come from?!" Neith blinked. True, she'd rarely heard a word from the girl since... well, since. But she didn't say words like that, did she?!

"Mr. Youko says it too." Elle protested, shrugging at Neith. "Besides, Enid would hate the dog."

"which he shouldn't. Just because someone does or says something, doesn't amke it right." Neith sighed,a nd added, "And Enid can't live here. It's too crowded, she'd hate it. THe forest is better for her."

"I don't want Enid to go away, I like her around!" Elle glared at Neith, crossing her arms. "I'll live there then."

"No, we are living here. THere's a school nearby, and we can always go back to the other house on weekends."

Elle didn't respond. Finally, she told Neith, "I don't want to sleep with the dog, it can stay out of my room. And I want to sleep in the basement." She stared back at the room. It was large, and spacious, light and airy, everything most might want. But to Elle, it was too large. Unfortunately, she also knew how Neith could be about 'getting light and air', adding quickly, "....and Nyoka, Kia's friend, has a basement bedroom. It's quiet, and I can do homework easy."

Neith nodded feebly. She wanted to avoid teenage powered arguments for a bit longer. Elle wasn't even really a teenager yet, so why argue? "We can't move it all today," She inwardly winced as she recalled how much it'd taken to get it all there in the first place, "But tomorrow, we can start. Okay?"

Shrugging, Elle smiled weakly at Neith. Neith tried to smile back, but it ended up more of a grimace.

"I'll let you get used to the new stuff." Neith sighed, and wandered out to leave Elle with her new... and now temporary... room.

Elle wandered in, flopped onto the bed and pulled the dark curtains tightly around it. It was the same sheets as her old bed, besides some new parts, and Elle felt comforted by the presence of something still familiar.

Wild Unicorn

Her quiet feet barely made a sound on the solid sidewalk, people never seemed to look up or notice when Elle wandered aimlessly along the streets. It was night, but the town was still buzzing with life. It was so unlike the bushier areas of Gaia, where the majority of people seemed to go to bed early and rise early.

Elle stopped in the doorway of a closed shop, watching curiously. She'd been brought up in that slower and calmer 'children and animals are our life' way, these nightclubs confused her. She was still far too young to really go inside and see what magic happened... but from the way people acted as they came out, it had to be really amazing magic.

Her thick dragon tail twitched, and Elle twisted around to try and hold it still. It had gotten much thicker since she was a child, and very strong. It almost had a life of it's own, and tended to knock down anything below waist level. She was afraid it'd break a window... not likely, but the last thing the young teen needed was to get caught by cops at this time of night, because her tail had set off some sort of alarm in a shop.

With that in mind, Elle started to wander away from the nightclub again. She was so bored these days, without anything to do at night. She couldn't eat somewhere, she wasn't old enough to go into those magic nightclubs, people would laugh at her if she came near and tried to talk, they'd tell her to 'Go home to your dollies'.

Elle snarled and glared at a random passerby. Another laugh, just like everytime. She couldn't help how old she was! Why couldn't they just pretend to be nice, or something?! She felt shy about speaking to strangers, it always took effort... and then they always laughed.

She made her way home then, deciding that there had to be better things to do than to stand around and be teased.

Tomorrow night, Elle would see what she could find.

Wild Unicorn

Dear Diary
Lately, there's not been too much exciting things happening. Elle is still a little withdrawn, but she's coming better. Aquene is a youngin' as usual, but a very sweet and intelligant one. When she hasn't discovered something new to pull apart and taste.

I've been seeing adds about an adoption center. Not like the GMFC where we get help to create a baby, this place deals with mothers who don't want their babies. I don't understand it, who wouldn't want a baby? I'm sure there's reasons though.

But anyway, I've been thinking about going to this new center and seeing what it's like. I don't know if we're ready for another baby just yet, but Elle might like a little brother or sister? Maybe I'm too old? ...na. I'm young still, even if my eldest daughter is a mother. That makes me sound 50 or something, doesn't it? Being guardian of a fa'e is a strange thing, even this far down the track.

Anyway, Elle seems to be taking to 'city life' okay. And she is pretty much a teenager now. Already! She'll want ears pirced and everything soon enough, I guess. Elle already bares a lot of skin, but that's not surprising. It is getting warmer. I'm not exactly the model of much clothing either. I guess she'll need to learn about sunscreen soon, right?

That'll be an interesting battle.

And no signs of Kochi or Winny. I'm so glad I haven't seen Kochi. I don't think I want to see her.

But I really miss Winny. I hope she's all right.
Neith.

Wild Unicorn

"Ow...ow...ow..."

Neith muttered something, and then snapped, "Hold still! This'll sting a bit."

"OW! Mom!" Elle jumped when white vinegar was dabbed onto her burnt skin, only causing Neith's hand to jerk and press down harder than intended. "That can't be good, it hurts!"

Neith pulled back, and put the cloth down. "I told you to wear sunscreen. What did you expect? The vinegar will help."

Elle tried to cross her arms, but it caused her to wince. Her shoulders, arms, back and parts of her face were burnt bright red and peeling in places. It hadn't seemed like she was burning at first, the sunshine had felt nice and warm. But it didn't hurt. It wasn't till a few hours later when that pleasant lingering warmth had turned into something a lot more painful and annoying. Frowing and attempting to stand, she retorted, "It's not my fault, I was tricked. I didn't know the sun was slow or that fifteen minutes would do this."

"You were warned, I told you that your skin was too pale for a lot of sunlight. Here... there's some icy water in the fridge. It'll help you." Neith went to the fridge, and brought out a jug of water. She gave Elle a fresh hand towel, and tried to ignore Elle's suspicious sniffing of the water. "I promise, that's just water. No added things."

Elle ignored Neith and started to dab the cold water onto her burnt skin. That felt a lot better, and she let out a long sigh of relief.

"I'll go and finish hanging out the washing, and then maybe I'll go buy more plants to shade the backyard with. Will you be all right?"

Elle nodded, and watched Neith go back out into the sunlight with a slight envious feelign creeping over her. That was followed by a nagging feeling of something that was darker. It wasn't fair that Elle couldn't live like a normal person, and it was so STUPID that now Neith was treating her like some sort of disabled person, giving her special dark shades and plants and stuff. It wasn't like Elle was allergic to the sunlight like some people were, and she wasn't like Kochi. She could go outside!

Standing, Elle made her way upstairs. She'd changed her mind about moving down to the basement, sure that it would make Neith get obsessive about Elle being strange. Besides, the top was kind of cool and high up. Elle liked being able to see far. There was something strange about living up here, because of the celing. It was sloped, and the only straight places were the four windows on each side where the roof had been pushed out to make a good place to stand. Luckily, Elle wasn't too tall, and she didn't need to bend over unless she went to one end of the room. And she'd gotten Neith to get more rugs, which made sure that the room was soundproofed.

Curling up at one of the windows on the window seat, with the jug of water in front of her, Elle watched her mother wander around doing house work. She felt like a swirling walking playground for emotions!

And confusion seemed to be having the best time, Elle complained to herself. She didn't know what she was supposed to be. A teenager? Then why did Elle still love the toys she had when she was younger, why were some of them still scattered around? Teenagers didn't play with toys. And children called Moms Mommy... and Elle still did that sometimes by accident. But she wasn't a child either, Elle had already started to go into that thing called puberty, according to her mom.

And then something else hit her. What WAS puberty?! And... what was sex?!

She'd heard a lot of talk between other teenagers when she went out, about sex and stuff. Elle had an idea about sex, it was that thing that made Kia get pregnant. Elle didn't want to get pregnant. But still... it wasn't like people sat down, said 'sex' and got pregnant like that? If they did, then that was a really stupid way to show love.

Was it a type of kiss? Maybe some of those yuck kisses Elle had seen on TV and in the streets did it, but did people really get pregnant in public? Elle was sure that was illegal!

Neith had banned Elle from looking up 'sex' online. Neith also hadn't counted on Elle learning more about the computer than Neith did... and defiantly hadn't expected Elle to crack the parent lock and turn it around to prevent Neith from doing things...

With a determined look and a few winces, Elle got up and headed to the computer. She was not going to ask her Mom. But if Mom didn't want her to look up sex on the Internet, then Elle would. If anything would explain, the Internet could!

Elle switched on the computer, and headed for google.

Wild Unicorn

((PG rated, some sexual themes. XD ...well, whatta expect? She did go to google.))

"What...is...sex."

A few seconds later, and... "People can get ADDICTED to sex?"

Elle read the screen, with her eyes growing wide. Sex and the city, it's your sex life, sex addicts anonymous, sex education, sex pistols, sacred sex and there were probably photos of it too if Elle clicked on images...

People were OBSESSED, Elle decided, and tried to figure out what to click on. Before Elle got too confused, she noticed a website for teenagers that covered everything she didn't know. So she clicked on that.

There was a lot on this website, Elle noticed. But this time, she was interested about sex... which had a lot of things on that subject. Before Elle went any further, she locked the door.

"Sex. Some teens have no problem doing it. ...doing WHAT?" Elle made a face, cursing her Mom for being so ... so... shielding! This was for people who knew what it was, she decided and headed for the F.A.Q.

Which didn't help at all, Elle thought, till she started to read them all.

"YUCK." By the end of reading a few, Elle was VERY sure that she'd never do it. It was still very vague to her, but there was so many things! Pain, and pregnancy and hurting and rashes and smells and people touching and... It sounded like the worst thing in the world, and if people got addicted to it, was it a drug too?

...waaiiit... what was that questi...

"Oh. My. God." Elle turned off the computer without doing it the right way, and got up without thinking of the sunburn. It resulted in pain ripping throughout every inch of her bright red shoulders, snapping her out of her stunned fish expression. Still, Elle couldn't help but ask the black screen, "People DO that? No wonder why there's so many nuns and monks and stuff! They're the smart ones, I think."

She flopped into her chair, swore again and reached for the water. Somehow, Elle was really glad she hadn't asked Neith. REALLY glad. Really, really, really, really glad!

"I'm never leaving this room again." Elle decided out loud, and attempted to wash her brain free of everything she'd just read about oral and ... stuff... with a movie. A nice PG movie.

Of course, it was now that Elle was starting to notice the little hints and things in the movie, all to do with that. So she changed it to another and...

Even more hints!

Now Elle was feeling really traumatised and confused, and she felt slightly dizzy with... with what? Elle didn't know! She turned off the computer again and headed for the door. She'd go for a long walk, that'd clear her head.

But then Elle remembered there was something else she didn't understand, and reluctantly went back to the Internet and the website. She figured she probably couldn't feel any more... of whatever this feeling was... so why not? Besides, if Elle really was in 'puberty', it was probably a good idea to know what it was.

Oddly enough, by the time Elle was done, she wasn't quite as panicky about the second lot of information. She could handle that okay... it was the other that now had Elle all worried and confused. In a house where everyone was female, Elle had never really thought about the other gender more seriously than 'He's cute' or 'I want a boyfriend one day' It'd never extended any further than a peck in Elle's mind...

But now, it was like Elle's entire mind was being turned upside down and spun around.

"I'm going to go for a walk." Elle told the empty room, and did just that.
