It is not a terribly impressive garden, at least not like one of the ones where every single bush has been tortured into cutesy animal shapes or geometric figures. Trees, shrubs, and flowers are grouped together in pleasing ways, but other than minor landscaping changes, all the green blends nicely into the nature around it. And that is why it is hard to find, out in the wilds near the mountains. No fence surrounds it, to keep owners in or strangers out; in a way, it would seem wrong to have one. All are welcome here.

A few small huts sit along one edge of the garden. Most are vacant right now, but two of them house the pair who are responsible for tending to the garden. Out away from cities like this, they can sometimes grow lonely, though, so both of them welcome visitors. In fact, the keepers here rather require them....

Be respectful to everyone. Characters do not necessarily have to get along ICly, but make sure unpleasantries OOCly, no matter what they stem from, be kept out of this thread, please.
No art-theft! I put a lot of work into this stuff, and stealing it will definitely get you reported. Similarly, concepts belong to the people playing the characters; do not steal those, either.
Speak English to the best of your ability. No 1337, no chatspeak, and please no giant quote towers, either. We can always forgive typos and occasional errors, but please at least make an effort.
One soul per owner; one owner per soul. You can't own more than one, sorry. Similarly, I don't allow co-owning.
Read this whole page. I'll try to answer as many questions as I can here. If something is still not clear after reading this entire page, then you may ask.
Do not PM Asahi Kumoru. Please post things in the thread. If you have a private concern, PM this mule about it, and be sure to leave a post here in the thread mentioning that you have done so, so Kumoru will be sure to check.
Please keep OOC comments in (( ))'s or [ ]'s . There might not be so much RP going on in the early stages, but Balthazar and Caspar would love it if passers-by RPed with them anyway~ OOC chatter is fine, too, just please keep it separate.

Once, a very long time ago, immortals lived amongst mortals on the earth. Mostly because moving off to some mountain retreat or high cloud was too much trouble. And the business was better with the mortals around. They were pretty much equals, you see, except for the small technicality that the immortals never died. But other things were different back then, too. Any mortal could become an immortal with enough meditation, self-refinement, and force of willpower. The mortals looked up to the immortals for their advanced wisdom of many lifetimes, and the immortals were similarly fascinated by the mortals' endless creativity that changed with every generation.

Many of the immortals liked to spend their limitless lifetimes inventing. They built all sorts of strange magical items to make their lives and the lives of mortals easier. Some specialized in creating summoning devices, or powerful weapons, or simple practical objects to perform mundane tasks. As each device was created, its image and description was recorded in a giant book.

But since such an everlasting utopia does not make for a very exciting story, some bad stuff had to happen. No one to this day is quite sure what, because it wiped out all the mortals, and sealed all the immortals away. There might be records somewhere, but we have not yet located them. And more importantly, the book that stored all the information about the magical inventions vanished as well. It seems as though the only things that survived from that time were the magic devices anyway.

My counterpart Balthazar and I... We were given posts to help start over now. Our emperor wants us to train mortals in the immortal arts. And try to figure out what the heck all of these magical items do. We need to repair our records, reconstruct the list of items, and also form a list of souls of those who help us. Please do come into our garden and see if you can help us....

As are we, but lucky for you mortals, it is our task to keep track of you. I am Balthazar, and it is my duty to keep all immortals and mortals listed and registered on my list. You cannot come to the garden without going through me. So keep yourselves in line and behaving. It makes things easier on both of us.

I am Caspar, and I am the gardener who tends to the plants here. The peach trees are my primary concern, as they carry the peaches of immortality. All of you will go down on my Ledger of Souls as mortals. But, of course, since it takes extraordinary power and training to master these ancient magical devices, if you are chosen, you will not remain mortal for long. Because of accidents and such involved with experimenting with enchanted knick-knacks, you may find that the immortality will come in quite handy.

Now trust me, in the grand scope of things, you mortals are quite dull. The registration cards I will give you when you are added to my Ledger will depict you as quite similar to each other. I assure you, this is purely for my own amusement, because eternity is a long time to be bored.

Do be kind to the guests, Balthazar! Truely, we have nothing against you mortals. If your ability proves you worthy to take on the responsibility of studying one of our items, we will freely give you a peach of immortality. They do different things for different people, but no doubt they will help make your appearance far more interesting. In addition, you can dress how you please.

Except you should not be focusing so much on your appearance as your training. That is what you are here for.

Of course, of course. You will change, but your item will not. And you may appear as you wish.

If you work hard and gain mastry in use of your device, then the Emperor may provide you with a quest or somesuch. Upon completion, you will be granted the title of Sennin, or master, and you may change your appearance again.

The basics
Three stages total:
1. Plain first mortal stage
2. Full custom second doushi (trainee) stage
3. Full custom third senin (master) stage, attainable through frequent RP, and probably a special quest

Form for custom stages:
[b]Hair[/b]: (color, texture, style)
[b]Eyes[/b]: (color, shape, number? XD; )
[b]Features/Complexion[/b]: (things like scars would go here as well)
[b]Markings[/b]: (other miscelaneous markings?)
[b]Clothing[/b]: (style, color scheme, period/culture influence - be as specific or as vague as you'd like, and I shall do my best~)
[b]Personality[/b]: (just a few words, so I can get a feel for things like pose and facial expression)

This is where we put up announcements when we find items and are seeking new doushi to take on the task of learning about them. They are a bit scattered, so we typically only come up with a few at a time. Be sure to check back occasionally. Balthazar and I like to get the items out and under study as soon as possible after we find them.

Ah, yes, and there is also the matter of a er... training fee, shall we say? Striking out into the mountains and jungles is not easy to seek out these magical devices, even for us immortals. And then there is the matter of cleaning them. And once you move in here to train, there is room and board....

5k is sufficient to cover the costs my colleague mentioned. Rarer items may be auctioned, raffled, or given away through contests, but we shall cross that bridge when we come to it.

Flatsale information
Flatsale prompt:
Here is a magical item. What does it do, and how does it work?


This prompt will be the same for every flatsale, though there may be different sorts of RP prompts in raffles and events. But it is safe to assume that this is the same for every flatsale. Of course, the pictures of the items themselves will not be posted until right before a flatsale starts (( Probably in a separate thread )).

I am judging primarily on creativity in responses 3nodding Take a look at the items, pick the one that looks coolest to you, and go nuts. If any item has any constant factors (( ie, it is made of wood, it is as tall as a person, such-and-such part cannot move )), it will be noted by the item, but other than that just go crazy. All I ask is that there is no godmoding in item power. If you give me something like, "I push a button and it explodes and kills everyone", that is not an acceptable response. Also not terribly original, either xp

A note about items vs. your appearance: The item itself has little to no bearing on what you look like. Your doushi and sennin forms will be full custom, however you like to RP your training and leap to immortality~

The Emperor has requested that I take down the names of mortals on my Ledger of Souls, regardless of whether or not they are currently training in use of a magical device. So as long as I am taking registrations, you mortals may register at any time. There is a fee of 500 gold associated with registration in this way.

After registering, you will receive a certed card with your little image on it. This is the same as the first stage of training. Please note that this does not mean that you will recieve a magical device and be able to advance as an immortal. It will, however, act as a coupon for 500g off should you happen to win an item through a flatsale or auction.

Similarly, you do not need to be registered as a mortal to enter a flatsale, and is completely optional. But if you plan on lingering around the garden frequently, you may wish to register. There will be events that will only be open to those souls on my list.

The only requirement for registration are that you be mortal and mostly humanoid. And for the sake of fairness, only one registration per person. If you have multiple characters, please just pick one.

The basics
Registering in the Ledger as a mortal DOES:
- let the world know you're a lurker
- let us know you're a lurker, for purposes of lurker-only events and such
- give you a 500g discount, in the event you win in a flatsale (( ie. this is equivalent to having paid 500 towards the flatsale price of 5k ))

Registering in the Ledger as a mortal DOES NOT:
- guarantee you the other two stages

You do not have to be registered to enter a flatsale, nor do you have to have to be to post in the thread. We love you all~ It is just an option I have open to lurkers and those interested 3nodding It also makes things easier for events, and I thought it would be an interesting system to try.

As of right now, the answer is no. This may or may not change in the future, but for now, Caspar and I are busy enough.

The path of wisdom, enlightenment, and custom second stages is paved with roleplay. We understand that lingering obligations in the mortal world will affect your training and roleplay postings, but Balthazar and I hope that you will make some effort.

Er, you may appear however you wish. Doushi (( second )) stage and beyond are full custom, within reason. Too many details may drive Kumo crazy, but he will try to be as accomodating as possible.

Balthazar, if I want my name in your nifty scroll, do I have to be my avatar?
Not necessarily. If you wish, you may, or you may register an OC. Keep in mind that the character registered must be mortal, and that you cannot register more than one character.

Okay, I'm half dragon, my mom was an elf, and just last week this jerk of a werewolf decided to bite me. So I'm not quite what you'd call "normal". Can I still get listed in your Ledger?
You do not have to be human, just mortal, and mostly humanoid. The devices are designed to be used by human-looking folk, or at least human-shaped anthros, but not wolves or full dragons.

I'm already character at [name of shop]. Would I be able to get on the Ledger or become an immortal?
I do not see why not, as long as you have the permission of the owner of the other shop. If you or the other shop owner have any questions, feel free to PM the mule or post them here.

I am Kumoru, the artist and mastermind behind all this~ Just a bit about me and the shop here:
I like to art as a hobby, but I'm taking other classes in college. East Asian Studies major, with a minor in Computer Science 3nodding I'll try my hardest to get stuff done in a timely fashion, but I'm still just a mortal, and one who wants to graduate xd ;;

I'm also totally into the anime Soul Hunter, and the novel it's based on, Creation of the Gods. Currently working on the manga series in between, Senkaiden Houshin Engi. Good stuff~ They were my inspiration for this shop~ Knowledge of the series isn't by any means essential to RP or anything here, but I'll flip and be happy if you like Houshin Engi xd ;;

I couldn't really make you a definitive list of all the pets I'd be certain to trade for, but I will guarantee that if I get a Fa'e, I will do whatever you want in return @.@
