The Magic Academy (READ THIS PAGE FIRST)

You step into the doorway with your letter of acceptance in hand, and you feel your body being pulled to an existance far away from your own. When you open your eyes, you see a castle in front of you, stone gray, yet it seems to be alive with the movement of students and teachers scurrying about. You shyly approach it's front gates and you realize that you are about to embark on an adventure

Welcome to the Magic Academy, a place for you students to learn and all you teachers to teach. This is a school of dueling so expect to get in a few fights as well. Teachers will hold classes and teach the students new skills for use in dueling.

Rules:

1.No cybering
2.No godmode
3.No bumping (unless needed to keep thread alive)
4.All characters must be approved by me or another moderator
5.Romance allowed (and encouraged)
6.Fighting allowed (and encouraged)
7.Try to make sure to seperate your OOC and your IC posts
8.This is a PG-13 thread, so watch what you say, if you need to say something that's not appropriate, move to PMs

Currently we're looking for teachers and students and combatants for the students, PM me to enroll in the school.

The PM should include your name, age, race, special abilities/skills, any equipment. Make sure that your character is original and/or isn't just a copy of your avatar. Don't forget any skill or item too powerful won't be allowed in this school, abilities that ruin the RP will be taken away and nullified. Mind yourselves and most of all have fun!

Moderators:The Moderators are the law, they make the rules, so follow them or you will be subsequently kicked out of the academy (banned). If you feel their decision was wrong or inappropriate, PM MagicRory and I will review it. Remember, being banned doesn't mean you can't come back. A simple apology and your ban will be lifted. smile

Text formatting and skill usage

Actions should be surrounded by either a dash on each side or an asterisk on each side

For normal speaking, surround your text with quotes to show that you are speaking out loud.

"I have a nice keyboard to type on"

For skills like telepathy (which you only have if you mentioned you have it in your special ablities, otherwise, you can only respond to someone that does.) Use the thought bubble and post your text in italics.

I can read your mind!

Characters may not teleport unless they have it in their special abilities that they can. Also, teleporting must be declared like any other skill.

Combat System:

In the Magic Academy, combat comes up quite often between the students, which is why we have a good solid system setup to avoid any autohitting, godmoding, or any of those other things that people tend to dislike.

The rules for combat are simple:

If it makes no sense that your character could survive/attack/dodge/anything then they simply can't. Only a moderator can decide this. to avoid having this problem, just make sure that all of your abilities and equipment are allowed beforehand. Remember, you can't dodge everything, and you can't take every hit without flinching, so be a good RPer and go with it wink

Most combat posts consist of three or more sentences depending on how detailed and how complex the battle is. If you're confused on how combat should flow, follow these guidelines and you'll do fine

Combat should go something like this:


*the wolf viciously bites at your arm* (oh noes!)

I would counter respond with this

-Flynn deftly pulls his arm away, leaping back and preparing to finish the wolf in one blow. He leaps forward arms out grabs the wolf by the neck-

The wolf...being just an example enemy here would say

*the wolf slashes at you with it's long claws while you grab it by it's neck*

And since it was a hit then the attack resolves so then something like this might happen

-flynn absorbs the force of the claws while flipping over the wolf and throwing it by it's neck into the wall- (lol)

See, it's just that simple smile

*goes into cafeteria, summons a food demon*I'll have a dragon steak please*the demon disappears and reappears with a freshly made dragon steak*Thank you demon*procedes to eat*

*walks to his office, sits in his chair waiting patiently*

*taps his fingers impatiently*

*hums a little tune to himself*

*continues sleeping peacefully, not expecting anyone to come in and wake him*
