This contest is really rather simple, so the rules are likewise simple. Please do not break these rules, or you may find yourself ineligible to receive the weekly prize.
- Contest: The Weekly (and by inference GEM/GC staff) promise you the following things:
- That every week a prize of no less than 25,000g will be awarded to a randomly chosen user who has fulfilled the contest requirements detailed below. We reserve the right to substitute items of equal or greater value in lieu of pure.That if for some reason we are unable to provide the contest in a given week, we shall announce that fact on the Monday of that week or earlier.That prizes given shall be made available within 2 days of the week's contest ending.
Requirements: To be eligible for the weekly prize, a user need only post in this thread a minimum of once (not necessarily during the week of the contest) and display an approved GEM or Gaiacast image in their signature for the entire duration of the contest. If no user is found in a given week who fulfills both of these requirements a prize will not be awarded and the next week's prize will have the leftover gold added to the pot.
Please Don't: We at GEM/GC ask you very nicely to not enter this contest with a billion mules. If we find that a user is attempting to raise their chances of winning with multiple mule accounts, we will most certainly deny that user any chance at winning the prize. We have no objection, however, if you happen to post in here once or twice on a mule because you use that account for posting. Additionally, if a user attempts to circumvent our automated selection process by any means they will be permanently denied eligibility for this and any future GEM/GC contests.
Additional Notes: Users not accepting the trade for their prize within one week after the trade has been offered will lose their prize. The gold will be appended to the next contest's prize.
Now, since this contest is rather different than your normal one we thought we'd explain a bit about how this works. GEM is checking the market all the time for prices on items, and now GEM is checking this thread to see if it can find Gaiacast/GEM images in your signatures. On Monday of each week from midnight up to 11:00 PM PST, GEM will scan this thread and slowly build a list of up to 100 users who are eligible for that week's prize - i.e., who have a GEM/Gaiacast image in their sig. The scan is random, so if you've ever posted in the thread you're up for the prize, even if the post is weeks or months old.
After GEM finishes the list (or after 11PM PST, or after it runs out of pages to check) GEM will begin checking those sigs throughout the day, seeing if they're still displaying those images. This will continue until midnight PST on Sunday, at which point GEM will pick a winner randomly from the remaining users. This winner will be displayed throughout the day, and on Monday it will start over again.
Image Eligibility:
The following images will be recognized by the scanner: GEM Questbars, GEM Lists and GEM Widgets. Additionally, other images may be made available which are valid for a limited time or with certain conditions, details of which are displayed below.

In the off chance that this thread ever becomes popular, I'm going to lay out some methods for partnering and advertisement. Now, I'm always going to put in 25,000 a week for this prize out of my personal funds, that's just what I committed to when I made the thread. However, if one of you wants to contribute to the jackpot as well, it'd only be fair for me to cut you in on the publicity that comes with it. Here's what I'll lay out:
- 5000g Jackpot Contribution:
- Banner + Link in the second post (contest status) and acknowledgment of sponsorship in that post.
10000g Jackpot Contribution:
- Same as above + one sig image added to the list of "valid" sigs for the duration of the contest.
For every additional 5000g contributed I will insert one additional sig image into the list of "valid" sigs.
Additional Notes: If your service, shop or thread operates using a GEM values feed or is otherwise affiliated with GEM already, talk to me about discounted rates and special allowances. I reserve the right to preview all images before putting them in the thread, and to refuse to do business with anyone for any reason. Images used as banners or sigs will be temporarily hosted on gaiacast.com until one week after the relevant contest has ended. Limit one sponsor per contest period, first-come first-served.
