Rae Paranormal Investigators

A Literate Roleplay

[OOC] - [Profile]
User Image Story

In England there is a small brick building, overgrown with vines. To the right of the stairs leading to the entrance, there is a bronze plaque. It reads - Rae Paranormal Investigators est. 1942. For generations the Rae family has owned and run this place without schooling. They were a small bussiness, that wasn't taken seriously, untill the young boss cracked a case that had stumped many others. Now with the sudden rush of clients, this agency of exorcists has to hire a couple helping hands. Four exocists, two channelers, or mediums, and one secratary. Each of these people must do their job, but they can help out with other areas if they are able to. Exorcists must eliminate bothersome ghosts, channelers/mediums will locate, and find out as much as they can about the ghost, and the history of the building, where as the manager, who may or may not have psychic powers, will tag along and log what happnes, as well as approve cases. Every case brings new knowledge. Every case brings new romace. Every case brings new sorrows. Every case brings new horrors.

Ooc: 'Ello. I sent you my profile. I won't be on much longer. Bye!
Kate Smith woke up late for work. While this was a usual occurance, it never failed to get her into a panic, frantically openning and closing drawers, getting papers in order(what she called homework), taking five minute showers, it was amazing she hadn't gotten used to it all. She'd lived the same morning thousands of times.

On this particular one, things didn't go differently. At around six-thirty she'd rolled over in bed and turned off her alarm clock, falling blissfully back into her dreams. By eight, however, there was no bliss to be had. She hopped into the shower, hopped out, threw her usual 'work clothes' on, and tied her hair into a ponytail as she sprinted out the door of her apartment and into the elevator. Once on the ground floor, she ran as fast as she could to the bus stop, only to be cruelly reminded that it wasn't coming. Thus, she was going to have to walk. It was around ten blocks, so it wasn't horrible, but it wouldn't help her get there any faster.

When Kate walked in the door, it was nine. She did her best to avoid everyone she could and to act as if she was doing what she was supposed to, despite the fact that none of the work that had to be done was finished and she was tired from her short 'walk.' When she arrived at her desk, she began to write frantically. Reports, research, reading, and a host of other 'R' words were piled up in front of her like mountains. The boss was bound to be angry. He always seemed to ...know when laziness or stupidity hurt her performance in the workplace.

"Just keep your head down and no one will notice," she told herself, not believing a word of it. "It'll work out..it always does...eventually." With a nervous smile, she began to attack her work, going faster than usual..which amounted to getting something done as opposed to nothing.
Rae had been in the office for almost 3 hours now. checking things, looking at things, and mostly just thinking. It was what he always did. Sitting in his great big chair and pondering many things. He was also feeling around with his senses. Trying to find any anomalies nearby.

Kate came in looking like she almost always did. Looking both nervous and out of place. he took his time watching the many things that she and the others did at this time. waiting before he would act. When he came to a decision he got out of his chair and walked over where Kate was working.

Both bored and irritated looking he bent down until he was looking right into her eyes with his piercingly focused stare. Calmly though, he said something he didn't usually. "Ms. Smith. I believe you must have forgotten to take day-light savings time into account." With that he slowly walked away and sat back down in his chair. Although it didn't show, he was actually very... well... happy was almost the word, that she was actually on time for once.
Kate nearly jumped out of her chair when the boss spoke. Instead, however, she put her current task(s) aside and tried to act naturally. Breathing in, she responded in the calmest tone she could muster. " Heh...heh...Yeah. Must be that." The two had this conversation way too often for Rae to possibly be getting any enjoyment out of it. Why then, did he have to come over, make her feel like her job was in danger, and be all...mean? It wasn't as if they could just find other people with her... talents, so he would have been better off just leaving her alone.

"I'll..erm..try to set my alarm clock to an earlier time" " Or maybe I'll move it further away from my bed... She thought with a smile, which she hoped hadn't been visible. "But...yeah...busy busy busy. If you'll excuse me, boss, I have quite a bit of work to do."
Anne sat at her desk, jotting down some notes and reviewing her paperwork. Their last case had been quick and simple, so she expected a Hell-case to come up soon. Hell-cases, as she called them, were the worst kinds of paranormal infestations; most of them involved some pretty nasty ghosts that were irate and damn hard to exorcise; they also involved a lot of paperwork as well.

She had arrived at the office early as she normally did—unlike Kate, who seemed to be her opposite in most of their traits—and Anne made sure that she was on top of her game. All of her paperwork was done with ease and diligence, a talent that caused envy in most of the people she came across, and she moved on to her studies.

Picking out two educational books on paranormal investigation, Demonology Through the Ages and Exorcising the Hell-Raisers by Francis Lebowitz, Anne began her studies. Never give up, never give in, never give out, was all the first page read. Anne smiled. That was one of the exorcists' unofficial mottoes, though this one wasn't her favorite. Her personal favorite was something from American exorcist Liza Deann, "Give us Hell, will you? Well, we'll send you back to Hell!"

Wonder when the next case will get in, Anne thought. She was rather enjoying the lack of cases, but there was no guarantee with ghosts. Something was bound to pop up soon, and she was not looking forward to it. She was afraid of ghosts, for goodness' sake! Why did I pick this job again? The pay was minimal, she was afraid of the subject, and she was hardly indispensable. I bet the team can't even wait to get rid of me. Anne scowled and stared down into her book, turning away from the first page. Of course, no other workplace could come close to the understanding we have here. All of those nonbelievers—none of us would fit in anywhere else.
The droll hum of the television was the strongest sound in the small 3 room apartment. The news playing something about a family being scared out of their home by strange noises at night. Another going on about some murder in another county. The bouncing rotation of the fan above noticeable but weak. However it was cheaper than having the air conditioner running. Most of the lights were out except for the kitchen. The pale tile and cliche white walls making a calm basic atmosphere.

He was adorned in black. A curtain of clothing hiding the physique beneath. However his primary occupation did not often require great physical performance. Though he always wore this outfit to work. It was a uniform to him, and efficient. Allowing him to carry various items without a backpack, or case of any kind.

Before him was a mostly eaten breakfast. Plates piled on the table, and bowls. A glass almost empty with a large jug of pineapple juice settled next to it which was also almost empty. He was finishing off his last piece of french toast at the moment. Despite his size, he ate quite a bit at once. A reason he avoided going out to eat with people. It took up more than people wanted to handle.

With his meal finally finished he rose and began to set them into the dishwasher. It was easier at the moment than washing them one by one. Heading off to the bathroom to brush his teeth and finish any other morning duties he made his way outside the apartment. Knowing once again he would get the suspicious glances of people.

Finally reaching RPI he walked up the steps not paying much attention to time. If he was needed he would be called. Other wise he was not adamant on arriving like the others. However it was his responsibility to pop in at least once. Depending. A prior engagement called for his appearance this day, which meant he was coming to work.

A quick check of his watch and it was apparently 9AM. Being late was not something he did by accident. His clocks marked appropriately with the altered times. It was just something he did. No reason to come in without purpose. He was only the worker, he did not file or keep track of anything.

Stepping in he looked around at the other two within the building. Rae seemed to be pulling a dual feeling and Kate was nervous as usual. Late was something she did not do it on purpose.
He made a moaning sound as a signal for his entrance. Though he was sure they had already noticed. Crossing the room he flipped the switch for the television. The channel already set to the news station. Even since Rae's little discovery, people were not hesitant to show any ghost cases that seemed enough for someone to want to take on. Specifically RPI.

Planing a seat near the television he kept his eyes fixed on the screen. A young woman on the scene at the murder situation. A young boy, and teenage girl both brutally mutilated. The images were being kept off screen. But apparently they had no relation to one another. Evidence of sexual activity, rape from the bruising was shown on the female. The boy as well. Obviously not something anyone wanted to see.

But definitely something interesting. A good job for any detective who wanted to big raise for solving it. However he was waiting more for details on the family spooked from their home.
