The Bleeding Heart Poetry Contest
Read ALL the guidlines before posting anything!
I go and read the guidelines for a lot of poetry contests and often I see that they don't accept "depressing" poetry. I see poetry as a form of self expression. At times everyone is depressed and if poetry is how you choose to express yourself- why not try to profit a little from it too, wink .
That is why The Bleeding Heart is here. This contest if for poems of a sad, depressed, angry, or dark nature. Since poetry can often be difficult to judge because it comes down to two or three pieces that are almost equally good- we have three prizes. The First Place prize is 2000g, second place is 1000g, and third place prize is 750g.
There is an Entry fee of 75g per poem to help cover the cost of the prizes and nothing more (donations are also accepted biggrin ). You will not be added to the Contestant list until I recieve either a trade request for the money or a PM explaining why you are not yet paying but to count your peice in my judging- but if you don't pay your entry fee in the next 72 hours you will be disqualified. There are 50 entry spaces available and once we have 50 paid contestants the judging will begin.
The Judges are TheDarkDivinity (myself) and Darkiya. Each piece will be judged on itself first, given a rating, and then compared to other pieces of that same rating. The best of the best of the highest rating poems will win. We will judge on the following criteria: Originality, Flow, Vocabulary Use, Use of literary devices (such as imagery, alliteration, rhyme, etc), and emotion. Note that if you use a piece that is not your own you will not only be disqualified but we will alert the hosts of any other contests you may have entered of your dishonesty.
So the contest is actually fairly simple- so get out your pens and let the games begin!
NEW: After 10 Rounds we will invite back the winners of each round (First, Second, Third, and any who may recieve an honnorable mention may be invited) to compete among one another, the best of the best for 15000g! Only one winner and you have to be invited to enter. More details to come later.
