Whispering Cove

Whispering Cove is a secluded ranch hidden along a coast in Torble. Half of the ranch is soft grass, fresh and gentle while swaying in the breeze, the other half warm sand leading into the cool waters of the pure, blue cove. A rather small, but comfortable, home stands under the shade of thick trees; a home for monsters is hidden in a cliff face opposite the house. The whole place seems very... relaxing.

Note on speaking here: I personally believe in a gameish way of thinking. Some monsters do not speak as humans do, but have their own way of communicating. Those close to monsters may understand their own, and some may understand others. Posts of monsters here shall have two contexts - the first is the actual noises they make, and the others, cased in brackets { }, shall be the translation.

More intelligent monsters may speak like humans, but may choose not to. ^_^ Like Thanial... because he's just odd like that.

Rules

If you're going to post here... don't. Just, don't. This is supposed to be a journal for me to keep up with my ranching days. The ONLY occasion you may post in is if you leave a gift. If you do that, leave the gift with a short note.

Other than that... please don't post. ^_^

Today I recieved my first disc stone! I was so excited... I still am, really. It's not just the fact that I have one, but the kind that I have... I nearly fainted when the shrine priest told me what the monster sealed within was.

It is the legendary Naga type, Time Noise. Imagine! Me, recieving the monster I've always dreamed about in my first stone! I'm so very excited... Hopefully the ranch will be ready for it and I'll be able to head to the shrine and unlock it soon.

Agenda for the day:

Thanial is still in his stone. No training today!

Jadaria stood, staring down at the flat, circular stone resting on her dining room/kitchen table. She reached down, tracing her fingers over the seemingly engraved designs on its surface, smiling slightly as she did so. There was something... something so wonderful about this...

"Just you wait, Thanial... Just wait... Soon, you'll be awake and such a glorious monster..." She giggled to herself slightly, then sighed, pulling her hand away. She headed out, toward the door.

"Guess I'd better work on getting the place ready..."

Today I took my disc stone to the shrine to resurrect the monster inside of it. I was so excited! It was... amazing, really. I mean, I've seen a monster fresh off the stone before - though I've never seen it happen before, since that's a privilage meant for the priest and the trainer... It was so... warming, I guess, when I watched the light from the stone and saw him emerging... Ah! I can hardly write about it without tearing up a bit...

Anyway. He was so alert... I was surprised, really. The priest said he was very intelligent. Apparently most monsters aren't born that aware. I took him home and began to show him around the ranch. He seemed to get the gist of everything quickly.

Agenda for the day:
Thanial - Got home. Showed around the ranch.

Thanial has settled in somewhat to his new home. He seems a bit suspicious of, well, everything... though not horrifically so. Just to the point where he stares at everything new until he figures out exactly what it is, what it's for, and that it's not going to hurt him. Which doesn't take long, but it's still funny to watch him...

I set out to teach him how to swim, too. I figured it was a good idea, being that the cove is right outside our homes... I didn't want him to accidently drown. He learned fairly quickly, after glaring at the water a while.

Agenda for the day:
Thanial - Learned how to swim.

Jadaria sighed softly, staring at the obstinant naga who was waiting at the edge of the water of the cove, the soft waves lapping at her waist. She shook her head a bit, holding her arms out to him.

"Please, Thanial? I promise the water won't hurt you. I promise!" she called, smiling encouragingly. "It'll be good for you!"

"Mrrrrrr...." The monster growled slightly, then leaned down and sniffed at the water. He glanced up at his master, then back at the blue liquid below. "Grrrgghh...."

"Just a little?"

"Grrr..."

"Pleeeeaaaasssseee...?"

The Time Noise slithered a bit closer, allowing the water to touch him. His tail flicked a bit, then again... then slowly began to slither into the water. He continued, slowly and suspiciously, till he was by Jadaria. At that point, however, he was up to his neck in water. He looked up at her, growling uncertainly.

"See? It's not so bad... Just make sure to move your arms, and swish your tail..." She pushed back, swimming back into deeper water. The naga followed... gradually. He bobbed under a few times though, and came up sputtering each time, angrier each time.

Today, Thanial seemed a bit more... comfortable in his surroundings. However, he is a bit grumpy. Perhaps it's just his nature? I wouldn't doubt it. I suppose perhaps I could have thought about it a little more before accepting the stone... I guess I'm just too used to seeing the extremely well-trained nagas of my favourite trainers.

Never fear! One day I'll be there... One day...

I started setting up a few of my training stations. I tried showing Thanial how to work... It... took me a while to convince him to work. However, in the end, I did get him to help me carry a pile of lumber from the entrance gate to my house.

I'm building an extra room! It's gonna be for all my junk...

Agenda for the day:
Thanial - Helped move lumber to house. *STR*

"Now look, Thanial. You are going to help me! This building will be used to store things for you as well... Not to mention you live here. You have to help!" Jadaria growled frustratedly, not wanting to yell but getting quite aggrevated.

All morning, she had been attempting to get the Time Noise to work, at least help a bit around the house. What had he done? Nothing! Well, apart from swimming, anyway. Since learning, he seemed to enjoy that. It was the only thing he seemed to enjoy, though.

"Mrrrgghh... Shhhiiisssss.... Kshhiiiii!" {"I don't want to help you!"}

"Thanial... please? Come on... I'm housing you, I'm feeding you, and I'll be training you. Now help me!!" The human stamped her foot on the sandy grass, planting her hands on her hips and glaring at the naga angrily.

Surprisingly, he backed up a little, looking rather... impressed.

"Sssssssuuuu... kssii sshhhaaaaa swwuuuu..." {"Well... perhaps it won't be... so bad to help."}

"Hah! Good. Come on now... Let's get to work..."

Well, the room is finally finished. I'm quite satisfied, though its creation has kept me from writing... there's only two of us, and I'm afraid all that work is quite draining! Ah well.

Thanial's being a bit more open to me. At least, he's not being a complete grump. He trusts me some more, too, I think. However, he has invented a game I... don't exactly like. I call it "Take the Kittybomb Plushies Jada Bought and Use Them for Target Practice..." Well, at least I have that room to keep the surviving ones decent...

Also, I've gotten a couple of training implements up. I'm quite happy about that. I turned Thanial's game into work. ...Minus the kittybombs, of course.

Agenda for the day:
Thanial - Target practice on both Kittybomb plushies AND the moving target. *ACC*

Thanial stared skeptically at the rather short, quadrapedal, almost catlike... thing before him. He shook his head, then reached down and poked at it a bit. It wobbled, then fell over.

"Kssshhh... sssi saaaaa iiiaahhhse.. suruuusu." {"You're... trying to tell me this is going to help me...? Rediculous."}
"Thanial... it's not on yet. It has to be on for it to work..."

The Time Noise shook his head and crossed his arms. Apparently, there was no way he was going to believe his trainer, no matter what she said.

"Okay, fine. Don't believe me. You'll regret it!" Jadaria picked up the wee contraption, then stomped off; a triumphant Thanial swelled happily, turning to slither off for a swim.

That is, until a rather hard piece of metal and wood pegged him in the back of the head. With a roar, he whirled around, only to find the little... cat... thing... whirring and buzzing on the ground near him.

"Kkkshiiii!!" {"Why you!!!"} He lunged at it with one arm, only to have it jump surprisingly quickly out of the way, getting his fairly sharp nails stuck in the ground. Until, of course, he pulled them loose.

Jadaria come out of the house, smirking happily as she sat on the edge of her raised porch, sipping on a box of apple juice. Halfway between the house and the sea, a fairly angry monster was trying his best, time and time again, to hit the mechanical kitty... and failing. Still, it did get him moving faster...

Oh my... Thanial's become accustomed to home, I suppose. Why do I say that? Because he's perfectly comfortable throwing a fit if he doesn't get his way! Me oh my...

He's been training with that cat for nearly a week now. I actually had to upgrade it, and when I did, it started beating the crap out of him... again. Now this, mind you, did not make Thanial happy. Oooooh no. Far from happy. After his exercises, which he did perform dutifully, I must say, he set to attacking one of the trees!

Needless to say I tried to stop him, but t'was rather hard at first...

Agenda for the day:
Thanial - Work with the upgraded cat machine. (Destroy a helpless tree.) *ACC* (*STR*)
