Only half of my applications work, System Restore being on the half that doesnt.

I need a free virus scan that takes LESS than an hour to complete itself. Either that, or some other way to activate system restore (the window cant open no matter what I try)

you have run a virus/adware/spyware scan, right? If you have these scanners, have you tried doing so in safe mode?

Tried like 4 different spyware scanners in safe mode and nothing.
Tried system restore in safe mode, window wont stay open.

Other programs that won't open, that I know of: AIM, mIRC, FirstClass, various uninstallers. Firefox takes about 5 minutes to open, and sometimes freezes when I try to load pages. It takes 10-20 minutes to restart.

Spyware scans you've tried, but virus scans?

About 10 GB, that's not the problem.

And I need a virus scan that doesn't take upwards of 8 hours since I don't have that much time

Norton. The fastest scan it's EVER done was about 6 hours, longest more than 12.

just for my own clarification, that's 10gigs free right..

How many apps do u have running in ur tool bar? (on the right) try closing some of those that u don't need. Also throw out temp files.

I tried ending the process of about 90% of running things, didn't make a difference.

If norton has done a scan in 6 hours, then you will not find one that will do quicker, tis not possible to have one in an hour if you have more than 10gig drive, which I am guessing you have a 40gb max hdd, even if not, a 20 gig drive with 10 gigs filled will take more than an hour.
