*picks up a microphone* Aherhem.... Is this thing on? Oh, good!
*strikes a pose* Welcome, new writers and Writers' Forum members!
biggrin My name is Disgruntled Peony and I'll be your tour guide around the wonderful place we call the WF. This thread is the perfect place to introduce yourself, state your main writing interests, and make new friends. But before introduction time, let's begin...

The Tour!

At the top of the main Writer's Forum page, we have the Subforums. There are five categories: Original Poetry/Lyricism, Original Stories/Prose, Fanfiction, Collaborative works, and Writing Contests. Each of these categories are quite useful, and utilizing them is highly recommended.
After the Subforums, we have the Announcements and Stickies. Aren't they gorgeous? These beautiful threads have earned so much merit that they have been permanently placed at the top of every page. I highly recommend taking a good, long look at each and every one of them. They're beautiful pieces of work, if I do say so myself.
Then we have the main body of the forum. Here you can read a number of interesting threads on various topics of writing. You should take particular note of the
Authors & Audience and
EleventyOne threads, as well as threads like
The Question Box. Threads such as these can prove both entertaining and useful. They also provide a good place to get to know well-established WFers who can assist you with both forum- and writing-related questions.
A final note: before creating a post of your own, it is wise to check the first page or two of posts to see if someone else has already created a post for the same topic recently. Not only will you save space by avoiding what I like to call Repost Syndrome, but you may very well find your question answered before you even have to ask it!

Well! Now that we've got the tour out of the way, let's move on to...

The Introductions!

Alright, everyone! Now that you've got a feel for the place, why don't you take the time to introduce yourself and talk with fellow writers? As a bit of an icebreaker, I'll go first.
Hello, everyone! I'm 20 years old and I've been writing fiction for close to five years now. I've been active on the Writer's Forum for about eight months. My favorite genres are sci-fi, fantasy and mainstream fiction, but I've also been known to dabble in everything from horror to angsty romance (I can't write fluffy romance, as I've discovered through experience).
Well, I guess that's everything. Thank you for reading and welcome to the Writer's Forum!
