All of the images, including pets, will be broken links for a few hours while MGMT cleans out the photobucket and web site files. There will be some links changed when everything comes back online, and the changes will be posted up for retrieval. If there are any questions, please post them in this thread and wait patiently for a response.

User Image behemoth: Something enormous in size or power;
a huge animal, possibly the hippopotamus, described in the Bible.

In this case, a Behemoth is not a hippopotamus. In the world of Gaia, the Behemoth is a class of dragon, more than likely a cousin. The first part of the definition is true: they are very enormous in size and in power, often intimidating many of those who can be unfortunate to walk in their paths.

While these creatures can appear to be very dangerous and formidable, most have a good nature and are often willing to help a human or animal that is in need despite the stereotype that their more devious counterparts (dragons) have forged over the years in the human mind. Of course, it does also depend on the type of Behemoth that you come across and what its values are.

Like dragons, Behemoths are capable of
magic as well as many other natural skills, such as fire breathing, though it again depends on the type of Behemoth it is as each has developed their own special kind of breath weapon. Their sizes also vary, as well as types of wings, and anything else about them.

Behemoths go through three primary stages of growth. Since they are reptilian in nature, they always give birth with eggs but there have been some extremely rare incidents where live birth have been produced, but generally such young rarely ever survive.

The next stage is the infant. All infants are different in personality and appearance, but they all have a few similarities. As infants, they all lack wings, and very few are capable of controlling their special breath weapon. Behemoths stay as infants for about two to three weeks, although interaction might help them to grow faster.

The final stage of the behemoth is the adult. It is now capable of defending itself and its owner, as well as flying. Adult behemoths are large enough to be ridden, and have complete control over their breath weapons. At this stage, behemoths are able to mate, but they must wait one week after they have matured before finding a partner.

User Image Next Flatsale: TBD

Flatsales are generally the most common way of getting a behemoth. Each behemoth will cost 8,000 gold, with a limit of one per buyer. If you'd like to buy one for your friend, you cannot buy one for yourself.

Every flatsale will be first come, first serve, so if you aren't quick, you might miss your chance at getting one. Keep in mind, there might be special events that don't require speed, but flatsales will always be speed based.

All eggs will be premade, meaning you will have to choose from the ones displayed on the front page. There will typically be 4-6 eggs per flatsale, and they will be posted at least 24 hours in advance of the flatsale for previewing.

  • Do not constantly ask when the next flatsale will be held.
The date and time will be posted in advance.
  • Do not attempt to reserve a spot. You will have to wait with everyone else.
  • Everyone must wait until I post "Go!" or their request will be ignored.
  • Do not edit posts!
  • Make your request visible.
  • Do not ask for a specific gender or type.
It is impossible to tell when they are in the egg stage.
  • Flatsales will end after 24 hours, regardless of how many are sold.
  • Send trade after your name has been posted in the list of winners.
Be sure to title the trade in correspondence with the flatsale.
  • Trades will be accepted as soon as they are received.
  • Confirm trades immediately. I will not cert them until the gold is in my possession.
  • Make sure to send all trades to the shop mule.

User Image Custom Slots: Closed

Custom slots are special because you get to customize your behemoth to your liking instead of having to settle for one of the premades that come with flatsales.

With a custom comes the ability to specify exactly what type, colors, and patterns you'd like for your behemoth. You can ask for anything except lineart changes and cosplays. Those will only be available in auctions.

Normally, there will be 2-3 slots open at a time. After they are filled, there won't be a chance to get customs for at least a month. Because customs are slightly rare and require more effort on the colorists' part, they will cost more than flatsold behemoths. Also, we must factor in that you can ask for a semi-rare behemoth when filling a custom slot. Custom behemoths will cost 20,000 gold or FOUR sealed letters. Do not ask for a price lower.

If there are custom slots available and you would like one, please post so in this thread, using the following order form:

User Image Owner's Name: The owner's username (whoever is receiving the behemoth).
User Image Type: Choose which type of behemoth you'd like.
User Image Gender: Would you like male or female?
User Image Base Color: This is the solid color underneathe any patterns you might specify.
User Image Eye Color: For your behemoth's eyes.
User Image Pattern: (if any) Try to be specific if you'd like a pattern on your behemoth's coat.
User Image Pattern Color: Choose a color or multiple colors for the pattern.
User Image Other Details: Anything else you'd like to tell us. Please, be specific so we can get your order 100% correct.

After you have placed your order, please send the trade. Title the trade properly, so I don't accept your trade as a donation. Please be sure to include the page number in the trade title.

User Image Breeding Slots: Closed

Behemoths are capable of breeding one week after maturing into adults. Mating pairs must be
male/female in order to produce eggs. The pairs do not have to be of the same type, though the chances of an Air/Shadow mating together are extremely rare due to their natural and polar opposites of one another. If two types breed together, the offspring are going to be either of the parents' type, and in some very rare occassions, a true Hybrid may be born into the clutch. Hybrids take on the characteristics of both parents, and are capable of breeding later on though the chances of them passing on their genes to the next generation are very slim.

When Behemoths breed, they can have clutches from 2-6 eggs. The eggs will stay with their mother for one week to establish a bond. Then, they will be distributed to the proper summoners. When distributed, half of the eggs will go to the shop and half to the owners. From there, the owners may do what they please with them. There have been known cases of two Behemoths being born of one egg (not as Siamese Twins, but as twins nonetheless). In this case, the owner of that egg can either choose to keep both infants or to give them away.

Breeding costs 20,000 gold. Either one owner can pay for it or the two owners can divide the price (10,000 each). Breeding can take anywhere from 24 hours to three weeks. At that time, the behemoths will be removed from their certs and placed in the breeding stables. They will be returned when all of the eggs are secure.

If there are breeding slots available and you'd like one, please post this order form in the thread:

Guardians are a vital part of a behemoth's life. If a behemoth is lucky enough to be selected or even approached by these wise animals, it will have no problem learning or adjusting to its surroundings.

Each guardian contributes to a behemoth in its own way. The bird tries to make the behemoth companion courageous, the gecko makes the behemoth clever, the raccoon makes it mischievous, the seal makes it gentle, and the turtle tries to make the behemoth wise. All of these influence the behemoth most while it is in the infant stage. Keep in mind that there can only be one guardian per behemoth, and these guardians are only received during special events.

Because she is special and dependable. 8D

User Image Are we allowed to request a change about the behemoths, like eye shape?

Absolutely not! Don't even try it!

User Image Can I link to your shop?!

No. I'm sorry, but there isn't. You should be on the look-out for special events though.

User Image November 07, 2005
The Behemoths RP Event is officially reopened, and trials are being given. If you are a participant, please check the guild and roleplay!

These behemoths need homes.

Also, Vashtya has yet again extended the October Masked-Querade. So, you guys still have a chance at the sexy skeleton behemoth!

User Image November 01, 2005
Halloween is over, but the October Masked-Querade goes on until Monday. Remember, a behemoth is being raffled in the event so

check it out. Also, the Halloween Auction has ended with a winning bid of 31,000g, courtesy of Kytona. Welcome him and Kiora to the thread.

And what's this? Balrog finally grew into an adult on page 387! Go see!

October 26, 2005: Halloween Auction Here!
October 14, 2005: Dark Wanderer's custom egg hatched on page 372! Check him out, and welcome him to the family!
October 12, 2005: Renari made some updates to the thread, including adding an Events post. Check that out for October events. There should be more soon. The RP event is still running as well, so get in there and roleplay!
Also, welcome our newest affiliate:
Bun'bii Gardens.
August 25, 2005: The event had to be rescheduled for a few reasons, but we now have an official event thread! Yay!

Click here to sign up for the event.
August 17, 2005: So, Renari finally got off her a** and organized an event for the shop! Clap for her! This event will be roleplay-based, and it will be FREE to anyone who wants to participate. Current behemoths owners, as well as non-owners may join in the fun at the guild.
To explain the event further, the participants will go on a hunt for the six abandoned behemoths in each territory of the Behemoth Ranch. It will be dangerous, so no one is allowed to go alone. Non-owners will be paired up with others, and owners will be allowed to take their behemoths with them on the adventure.
If/when a participant stumbles across one of the abandoned behemoths, the behemoth will test him/her to see if he/she is worthy of being its new summoner. The tests will depend on each behemoth, and none will be the same. One might be a test of strength, while another could be a confusing riddle.
If the participant passes the test, the behemoth will join him/her and the participant will become its summoner. Then, the participant will immediately return to where he/she started and pay a small fine of 4,000g.
[ ONLY PARTICIPANTS WHO WIN A BEHEMOTH WILL HAVE TO PAY ]
This event is currently scheduled for next weekend [August 26-28th]. If you want to participate, please post in this thread saying so, and I will add you to the list of participants free of charge. You HAVE to be on this list to participate!
* If anyone has any questions about this event, please ask Renari. Thank you, and we hope to see all of you at the event!
August 07, 2005: Yay for roleplay! Come in and jump into the fun as we play ourselves, as well as our behemoths in the Information Centre. If you don't have a behemoth, it doesn't matter! Join in anyways! It will be fun, I assure you.
During our fun roleplay, something amazing happened. An egg cracked open and a Flame Bearer popped its pretty, little head from the shell. Congratulations samus x! Check page 272 to see!
On to other news, there is a massive RP event in the works for the guild. Stay tuned for more updates on this interesting event. There might be special rewards or something unexpected might happen! How exciting!
July 17, 2005: And yet, another hatching! Neherenia's egg hatched into a mischievous, male Flame Bearer.
Check page 140 to see!
Ra Ra for new hatchings! Tuxsuti's egg hatched into a gorgeous, male Mountainous. Check page 150 to see! And look at this, Behemoths is growing rapidly! When will we reach page 200? Let's hope it is soon!
July 16, 2005: After one full day, the race for the free custom was over! Twiddle claimed the first post on page 125, but she gave the freebie to samus x. Thanks to everyone who joined in and helped revive Behemoths!
Today, wolflove321's egg hatched into an adorable, female Moss Dweller. Check page 130 to see!
July 14, 2005: Twiddle's egg hatched and out came a beautiful, male Abyss Lurker! Check page 88 to see!
Renari is going to take a break from Gaia soon, so she decided to hold a mini-event to revive the shop thread. She is handing out a free custom behemoth to the first poster on page 125, but the catch is, if she leaves for break before page 125 is reached, no freebie will be given. So, get to bumping and chatting if you want that custom!
June 20, 2005: Recently, Renari's domain changed, so all of the old layout's images were broken, which was very unattractive, and it made the text difficult to read. Also, Gaia decided to change the forum code, so everything was wacky. The entire thread was in HTML, but now it has been completely re-coded in BBCode. Renari knew that the thread needed a revamp. The old layout made it look really cluttered, and it needed something different. So, she finally got off her a** and designed a new layout. Don't you like the monochromatic scheme?
June 05, 2005: Renari just came back from her trip to Orlando, so she is trying to catch up on some things.
The guild is now open, and invitations have been sent out. Check your inboxes for the PMs and click the link to receive membership. If you do not own a behemoth, you will not be invited into the guild, but you may still hang out here.
From now on, most of the roleplay should be done in the guild. If you want to roleplay here, make sure you roleplay that you are inside the Information Centre, and not out in the grasslands, by the lake, etc.
May 30, 2005: New affiliate!
Menyhert.Era was hand-picked by Renari for its beautiful layout, great organization, and gorgeous pets.
Also, Renari is currently setting up the guild to get it ready for roleplay and events. When she is finished, she will send out invites to every person on the owners list. She will be done soon, so be on the lookout for those PMs!
May 28, 2005: Flatsale was held today. All of the eggs were sold. Congratulations to the new owners!
May 26, 2005: Chickies and Renari finished coloring the eggs for the upcoming flatsale and decided on a date. The flatsale will be held on [Saturday] May 28th @ 2:30 PM [CST]! It will last 24 hours or until all of the eggs are sold. Egg previews can be found in the first post.
May 25, 2005: Success! Yori and Hoshi are now in the care of Tuxsuti, who we hope will treat them well. Congratulations Tuxsuti! I'm sure you and Yori will bond in no time.
Flatsale in the making! Chickies and Renari are planning a flatsale very soon. There will be five behemoth eggs for sale, so make sure you get yours! A date and time have not been decided yet, but keep checking back because we are sure to have one set soon.
May 24, 2005: Yori and Hoshi have been put up for adoption. We are taking entries on who wants to be their new companion. Hopefully, we will find a nice summoner for this lovely behemoth and her guardian.
In other news, Renari has revamped all of the certificates and moved them to a different location in the photobucket. Owners, please check the lists to find your new links. Yori, Fiua, and Verlia have been excluded from this update until new owners have been found. The old certificates will be deleted within a week, so please change your links ASAP.
May 23, 2005: Behemoths is officially under new management! Toushin has quit Gaia, therefore leaving his prized petshop to Renari. She hopes to take very good care of this wonderful shop and bring out its full potential. Please, stop by the guild and browse through this wonderful new thread. Also, Renari created a web site to host all of the images, as well as detailed Behemoth information. Renari has worked very hard on reviving this shop, so please welcome her with open arms.
December 15, 2004: Oy! I am a busy little beaver. I have finally given out the rest of the Behemoth eggs, as well as two of the new SE familiars (I'll decide where the third one goes later). It's been hellish but I am getting through it! YES.
We are going to be having Secret Santa familiars available here pretty soon, so get those pockets ready!
November 30, 2004: Gaspness. More adults are popping up everywhere! This is most intriguing... perhaps breeding shall be soon. Who knows for sure. There may be an auction as well.. as for the three remaining Halloween eggs.. Who knows. >>
November 11, 2004: Goodness, a lot has been happening but I am finally kicking this place back into gear. One of the Behemoth eggs from the Halloween event (as late as it is) was given out, the Hybrid finally came out of his egg, and now, adults are starting to spring up! YAY!
October 03, 2004: The Halloween event is now up!
http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3938016
September 26, 2004: Plans for a Halloween event are now ongoing! Be sure to hang out around the thread to hear more about it!
September 14, 2004: Hey folks, over at the Phyxa labs (where I am shop manager) we will be having an event this weekend to find some Phyxas new homes. If you don't own a Phyxa and would like one, please join the guild (it's free!) and get to know more about the Phyxa before then. ^_^
September 10, 2004: The auction is now up for the Fire / Shadow Hybrid.

http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3680271
Anyone can bid, including current owners though I'd like to let a new owner get a hold of it.
Items are now available for purchasing. Please check out one of the later poses for information.
September 01, 2004: Well, it's a new month. Wow. It's amazing how fast this year has gone by huh? September. O_O But that's now what I'm here to talk about.
The Fire Shadow Hybrid auction will be happening maybe this weekend or sometime next week. I'm not sure. Anyone can bid on it, including owners (should they feel they can handle two Behemoths) as this will be a Gen 2 Behemoth. Please be sure to check back for further details.
August 29, 2004: Most of the eggs have hatched. Hooray! Also, I have found my camera charger which means that I was able to scan in the True Fire/Shadow Hybrid egg and its child form, which then means that I will be able to hold the auction like I plan to. It will not be until sometime in September though. As with all Hybrids, the lineart is going to be unique (though it's been premade) and you will be able to choose the colors but not the sex. It will be a Generation 2 Behemoth.
August 27, 2004: The first Shadow type was revealed. You can see him on page 121. And hooray, of course, for reaching 100 pages. ^_^
Items will be available ASAP. If you have any suggestions for items, please post them in the thread.
August 23, 2004: We have one guest colorist, Sosiqui. She would have been my first pick but she's extremely busy and we (her and I that is) decided she would do good as a guest colorist. Congratulations!
This means the spot of the third, permanent colorist is still available, as well as a second guest one.
August 19, 2004: The first babies were born! Congratulations to bran-chan and TheMadHatter!
August 17, 2004: Well, it took a few hours but all the eggs got sold. Hooray. Congratulations to everyone. ^_^
August 16, 2004: The first flat sale has been schedule to take place tomorrow, Tuesday, August 17th, at 5PM Gaia Standard Time. Chickies will not be here to update the flat sale window nor the title page so the eggs will be put in the thread or in this post. So, PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE THREAD. o_o;
August 14, 2004: A lot of the information is slowly being put up. Hoping to schedule a flat sale sometime within the next week or so.
August 08, 2004: The thread is finally back. Because Dili can no longer run on a good computer, I found another manager. Please welcome Chickies.
I am also aware that the coloring contest never got complete and I'm hoping to remedy that by allowing people to send me requests to become a Breeder / Colorist here at the shop. I will only have one spot open, but the two colorists that I like below them get to create a Behemoth for themselves to keep and will be back up / guest breeders here at the shop.
We're devising a whole new system. These pets will still remain non-Roleplay Required, but we've introduced the Stats system for those who do roleplay. There's also been a slight alteration in the certificates, and we're hoping to get right back on track.
If you are interested in becoming a breeder please post a message here on the thread and Toushin will contact you.
