Anthro baby? o_o

In here we have the iron clad rules of the store and guild. Read them. Love them. The cats have to obey them and you'd better as well.


Shop and Guild Rules -

- Please do not PM the shop mule asking for a cat or send unsolicited trades. We ONLY sell cats when there is a flatsale happening or custom slots are open or there is an event. You cannot just order a cat whenever. Plus, it's kinda annoying.

- No begging for cats or offering to buy other peoples cats/kittens either in thread, guild or PM. This is harrassment and we don't care for it.

- No slurs, violence or other annoying behavior. We are a thread full of a variety of people with a variety of beliefs. Talking about controversial things is fine, but act like an adult. I got faith in you guys.

- And in that vein, please do not abuse or badmouth one another's cats. While you may not like a certain cat, others may and their owner certainly does. There is no reason to make someone feel badly about their cat.

- Editting posts is okay, UNLESS it's during a flatsale or any other speed event. Do NOT do it then. >_>

- Image theft = very bad things.

- We reserve the rights to change the rules whenever we want. Life ain't fair.

- If someone is harrassing you/spamming the thread do NOT reply. PM a mod or StrayCatStrut and ignore the jerk's posts. They want attention. Let's not give it.



First of all: You don't have to RP your cat or ally. We won't take them away. RPing is just something fun you can do, and a lot of people enjoy it.

RP Rules -

- No god-modding (for more info about that, look in guidelines). If someone god-mods you, please tell them to look at the RP guidelines. If they continue and/or are rude about it, please let StrayCatStrut know.

- Violence rarely happens. As quirky as our Strays can be, very rarely will any of them resort to violence. With so many cats living in one space, the cats are well aware that some behavior is just not acceptable. If your cat attempts to physically attack another cat, they'd better have an exteremly good reason.
Playfighting is acceptable, however. Name-calling is alright. However, be sure to keep the name-calling between cats and do not let it spill out to name-calling between owners.

- RPing is optional. If other people choose not to RP their pets, that doesn't mean you can make comments if those people get breedings, customs or other things. No one deserves a cat more than anyone else.

- Give the new people a chance! It can be VERY hard to RP in a thread for the first time. If you see someone posting that their cat is doing things, clearly hoping for a partner, than go over and give them a hand! RPing with another person at the time? Ask your partner if the new person can join. As many people can RP together as you want, and it's a great way for cats to meet!

RP Guidelines -
A lotta cat owners are new to RP but wanna try it out. That's fine, we all start somewhere and Stray Cat is a for-fun RP thread. Ya gotta learn to play in the sandbox before you can handle the monkeybars, right?
So okay, here are some basic (very basic) RP guidelines!

Formal vs. Informal RP
There are two forms of RPing here. Formal RP and Informal RP. Informal RP looks like this:

Gullien posts: " Sage: ::angrily:: Who keeps putting butter in my hat!? "

Formal RP looks like this:

Gullien posts: "Sage looks around the thread angrily. It had happened AGAIN, and he was running out of hats.
"Hey!" he shouted. "Who keeps putting butter in my hat!?"

Both of these types of RP are acceptable in the Stray thread. Which type do I recommend? Definately formal. Informal generally tells us what a character says and a basic idea of what they're doing. Formal can tells a lot more, depending on how much detail you write. Formal can be intimidating to a first-time RPer, but I really recommend you try it. It's scary, but you'll find it gives you a lot more freedom to play and that's a lot more fun!

-Pick a character and stay in it
Give your cat a personality and try to work with it. That doesn't mean you have to plot a backstory. It's easy to just assign a simple word like "sweet" or "clumsy" and then make your character more complex from there. However, try to stay in character. A sweet cat is unlikely to wandering to the thread screaming loudly. A clumsy cat is unlikely to do a successful triple backflip. Even though those things might be more interesting, they're not in-character for your cat. Try to make your cat unique as well. You don't need to have the most powerful or bloodthirsty or popular cat, just a cat with a simple and interesting personality. A lot of times playing the cat next door can be very fun and satisfying. If you're a beginning RPer, it's often easier and more fun to play a cat with a basic personality than Mewdorth the Destoryer.

-No god modding
We're having a spat of this, simply because people don't know what it is. I'll try to explain.

God-modding:
God modding is anything that takes away a player's control of their character. I'm going to do some examples with Gullien's Clover and xTwisTx's Ty.

Good example:

Gullien posts: "Clover walked into the thread and looked again."
xTwisTx posts: "Ty waves hallo!"

God-mod example:
Gullien posts: "Clover walked into the thread. Ty waved hallo to her and walked over to give her money and backrubs."
xTwisTx posts: "...."

As you can see, in the god-mod example. Gullien completely stole Ty. This is not okay. RP should be back and forth, like a tennis game. Instead, Gullien has shoved Twist off the court and is now running back and forth hitting the ball to herself. This may be fun for Gullien, but it's not fun for anyone else, and having fun together is the point of RP (or at least it is in here!)

However, god-modding can be more subtle than this. Here's an example:

Good example:
Gullien posts: "Clover walked over to Ty and attempted to steal his collar"
xTwisTx posts: "Ty yelped as Clover yanked the collar off of his neck."

God-mod example:
Gullien posts: "Clover pulled Ty's collar off and ran away with it."
xTwisTx posts: ".... uh"

See the difference? In the good example, Gullien gave Twist a choice. She could let Clover steal the collar, she could have Ty foil the attempt, she could have Ty run away. The good example lets Twist participate in the RP by having a choice. The god-mod example takes that choice away. Clover WILL steal Ty's collar and there's nothing Ty or Twist can do about it. Twist doesn't get to participate in what happens at all. Although this may seem a little silly to some, the whole point of RP is (again) having fun together. How can Twist have fun when Gullien don't let her participate in the RP?

It can be hard to tell when you're god-modding. If you're not sure, be sure to ask your RP partner if what you're doing is okay! Communication is a key.
You may notice two people who RP together a lot. They may seem to be god-modding, but a lot of times they've communicated before the RP and have already set an idea of what they want to do. Communicate, communicate, communicate! Does this mean you have to plan every RP? Heck, no. Unplanned RP is fun and interesting. But if you're not sure about an action, ask your RP partner or the thread. If your partner god-mods you, politely tell them so. No one will mind, everyone's god-modded at some point or another. You have to learn what it is before you can avoid it, after all!

- Remember, the most important goal of all RP here is to have fun!

Stray cats come in a variety of colors and breeds. But they all have the same basic life cycle. Basically. Meh, here. We'll educate you in the ways of Stray Cat-dom.



This is the basic cycle for most cats gotten through the store. They start out as boxes and become regular adult cats when they feel brave enough to leave their box. A cat can anthro when they take Severus's anthro potion. However the normal cat stops growing when it becomes a regular adult. Stray Cats are basically a two stage pet.
Most cats are regular cats. However, some (particularly the cosplays) can develop special powers or features like wings, horns and other oddities.
An adult Stray is the size of a regular cat.
An anthro Stray is the size of a regular human.


Stray Cats who have been RPed in the thread a long time may also achieve the elder stage,
They don't really get anything cool, but they do get a bit bigger and visible hind legs again. I'm sure they missed them. The elder stage does not affect regular cat aspects like breeding.
And elder cat is a bit bigger than a regular stray. Their shoulders would be level with a regular cat's head.



Draconic cats have the same basic life cycle as regular cats. They start as a box and become a cat. Draconics tend to take a little longer to leave their boxes than regular cats. Draconics can achieve a final Dragon stage with a potion from Severus. Draconics can breed with a regular cat, unless they're in their Dragon stage. Then they can only breed with other draconics.
Draconics have functioning wings and all of them can breathe fire. Some may delevope abilites after that. Draconics cannot carry other cats in flight (although they might be able to lift kittens), but Dragons easily can.
An Draconic Stray is the size of a Golden Lab dog
A Dragon Stray is the size of a small horse.



Oh, what the fudge. I dunno either. Something ELSE that starts in a box, I guess.



What's that? You've seen kittens around here? Well, that's a little different.
When cats breed, the starting stage changes and the cats start as kittens. Kittens are cute and playful and they have most (but usually not all) of the markings they'll have as adults.
All kittens are the same size as regular cat kittens.


Allies just wander in here as adults. They're not pets, they're street animals that Stray Cats tend to get along well with. Unlike Strays, allys seems to follows basic personality types:

Foxes: Smart, cunning and they always know where the best dumpsters are. They're easy to befriend but don't trust them alone with your food!

Raccoons: Harder to be friends with than foxes, but equally as smart as foxes and very resourceful. A raccoon is a great ally to have at one's back and a heck of a fighter.

Bunnies: Bunnies? The heck? Isn't a Stray more likely to eat a bunny than ally with it? Ah, you're forgetting the Stray backstory. G-Corp used all sorts of animals in its experiments and there are plenty of rejected bunnies in Gaia too. Any fellow ex-lab rat is a friend of a Stray. Except actual lab rats. Then you ask too much. They may be Strays but they're still cats.
Bunnies are for the most part very sweet and loyal. They don't know where the dumpsters are, they're useless in a fight, but they're great company and they'll stick with you no matter what.

Grunnies: Very rare around here, since most cats and grunnys dislike each other. However, times are very tough for a Grunny out on the street in Gaia, so we do get some that come in out of desperation. I won't turn away anything that needs help, but a lot of the cats don't care for them.

Allies are all average size.

All about breeding!

1) Who can breed?

Male - Female
This is the most conventional pairing for breeding. Kittens from this breeding will inherit their parents' colorings and expressions.

Female - Female / Male - Male
Impossible, you say? Not at all. Here at Stray Cat Strut, we use state of the art technology to ensure that same-sex couples can breed. I repeat, we use state of the art technology, we do NOT just go out the backdoor and look for kittens that resemble your cats. That's a filthy lie. This method of breeding is more daring. Most of the kittens will inherit their parents' colorings and expressions, but wild cards may show up because of flaws in our technology. Yeah. >>;

Male - Male - Female
A female Stray Cat can carry a litter by more than one male. The advantages are a larger choice of colors, markings and expressions for the kittens, but the disadvantages are that male-male-female pairings have the same number of kittens as regular pairings, which means you pay more money for the same number of kittens and have less kittens to go around.

Cosplay Cats
Cosplay cats breed just the same as regular cats and can breed through any of the ways up above. Babies from cosplay cats may inherit cosplay features.

Draconics
Draconic cats can breed with regular cats as long as they are not in their final dragon stage. Dragon cats can only breed with other dragon cats and will have draconic babies. Draconic cats and regular cats will have a mix of regular and draconic babies.

Anthro Cats
Anthro cats can only breed with other anthros. They have fewer kittens than regular cats and while the odds are high that they will have an anthro baby, it's not a guarantee. A female anthro can NOT be impregnated by two males.

2) How many kittens does a cat have?
Between 2-5 for regular cats, between 1-3 for draconics and between 1-2 for anthros.

3)How much is breeding?
Breeding is 1k per cat, 2k for a cosplay cat. It's 3k per draconics. To breed anthros, it's 10k per anthro.

4) What can we do with our babies?
You have several options:
You can keep them or give them away to friends.
If you chose to auction them, you can sell them with a AB of 10k. You can choose to set up the auction yourself, or have the shop do it with shop taking a 25% cut. If you run the auction yourself, you must let us know where it is so we can approve the auction thread before it opens. That keeps you from being accused of image theft and lets us know where the kittens are going.
If you choose to raffle the kittens, you can sell 1,000 tickets at 10g each. If you choose to have a free raffle, you can sell unlimited tickets. Please let us know where the raffle thread is so we can approve it.

You must decide what you want to do with your kittens within a week! Kittens who are here longer than that without any word from their parent's will be taken by the store. If you need a mediator about the kittens, the store will be happy to step in. :3

5) How often can my cat breed?
Your cat can breed every other slot opening. That means if you cat bred in a slot one week, it has to skip the slot this week and can breed again next week. We don't want our cats collapsing from overbreeding or our gene pool collapsing from lack of new cats.
Note - All cats can now only breed three times, starting 07/01 -
This rule is starting tabula rasa, meaning that cats that have breed before
07/01 do not have that breeding counted as part of their limit.
