2 Corinthians 10:4 - "We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments." [NLV]
On Sunday you go to church, get excited about God, about reaching out to your friends, about showing those who don't know Him the way through the way you live your life. It's an awesome feeling to be so motivated about something so incredibly amazing...
And then comes Monday. Creating a plan of action is easy. Sticking with it is hard. We go to work or school and it seems so difficult to stay on that straight and narrow path. It seems more than difficult. It seems impossible.
If that were the case though, I wouldn't be here with you now to say that. God does not want His children to go it alone in the world. He doesn't expect you to bring the entire world to Jesus all by yourself. He knows we need help. That's the purpose of this guild. We are a diverse group of believers from many places and cultures with a single common goal to help one another on the mission.
What mission are you talking about? The mission that we, as Christians, have been given by God. The Great Commission. Matthew 2818-20 says, "Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'"
Now is the time to create a battle plan. Now is the time to go to the field. Now is the time to complete the mission. In this guild we will have fun, we will laugh, and we will cry, but above all, we will discuss the meaning of being a soldier in the army of the Lord God. We will discuss the enemy's tactics, and we will develop techniques for defeating him. We will pray for one another, that each of us shall overcome the struggles that face us, and that we will taste victory in the battle.
Our mission has been set before us. It will not always be fun. It will not always be easy. We will all have our weak moments, and may want to desert the army. It is, however, what has been commanded of us. Who wants to join the team? Who wants to enlist in God's army? Let everyone hear your Battlecry!
