I have not finished it yet, but here are some early observations.

I. Glory glory hallelujah, the battle system has changed!
You can jump now, and run and actually avoid oncoming attacks! There are some interesting new combos, and even some nifty things you can do with the shoulder buttons.
Unfortunately, they haven't quite worked out the kinks in the AI just yet. As I play Reimi (who's name apparently translates to 'rape me' in the language of the monsters), I find myself being chased in circles by two or three very angry monsters while Edge and Faize seem to be enjoying their tea party off in the corner. stare

II. Oh my god, it's not Sophia! (And other character observations.)
(Unfortunately, I can only go over the ones I've played/encountered so far.)
1. Edge
They basically gave Fayt a brain transplant and a blond wig. Looks like Fayt, but this one's actually not emo! I haven't seen him bawl YET! He's also actually got an attitude, so he's a lot more believable.
2. Reimi
I'm pretty sure she killed Sophia at some point to take her place as heroin. BIG improvement. This one gets a bow instead of a staff; I'm missing symbology, but I'm sure that will come later. And guess what, kiddies? She's actually USEFUL! And not annoying!
3. Faize
The first alien you meet; he's an Eldaarian. Sword and symbology for this guy. Pretty much your standard 'I'm here to explain everything and look cool doing it.' guy, but he kind of grows on you.
4. Lymle
You meet her on another planet, but I'm not sure that she isn't human. She's your summoner; she starts out with Cerberus. Just a kid though, and a weird one at that. The most monotone thing I've ever heard. Kinda' funny though; she's brutally honest, especially to Faize.

That's it for the ones I've gotten so far, but here's a video I think has everyone in it, including Aramat (I think that's his name), AKA Albel 2.0 lol.

It also has a boss fight in it, so you can kind of get an idea how the battle system is, thought the guy playing it fights cheap and just combo's over and over... >.>

1. First of all a great game
2. If you havent seen Edge cry just wait
3. Little advice make sure to get all items before you leave a place... You never know when edge is going to blow something up
4. Lots of connections two the first two games
Planet Roak
EN II is Energy Nede II, they have the four gems there as well as the the capitol Centropollis, for you that have not payed Sencond Evloution it is Central City. The Morphus are actually nedeians. By the way they never say this but it's not hard to deduce this if your a hard core Star Ocean fan.
No real service to the third game
5. Suprise Boss Gaberial Celeste in the Cave of the Seven Stars aka Cave of Trials
Bonus: The "Hero" Light speed Kenney is Claude's Great Great some nth Great Grand Father

And Edge blows stuff up? Seriously?
Also, I had a feeling that Kenney had something to do with Claude, but I didn't know what for sure or if I was even right. I haven't gotten to play the game yet, just saw the anime; I feel so deprived. D:

Other than him saying lad instead of maggot, Arumat resembles Albel in means of attitude. I'm new here so you should all know that i love Albel and Arumat. oh and the explosion symbol is HUGE!!!!!!

SO4 is fun so far! I'm only 17 hours in, and so far, I have Edge, Reimi, Faize, Lymle, Meracle, and Baccus in my party. I met Sarah, but she hasn't joined yet.
I really love this game though! It's so... Star Ocean-y, and stuff. I can't explain it.
I'm stuck at the moment:
OH YEAH! IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO GET INTO THE COLOSSEUM ON PLANET ROAK, PLEASE TELL ME.
I can't figure it out T____T I feel so dumb.

Oh yeah, Faize is my favorite by the way >w<

Yeah the Last Hope is awesome, love the battle system, but I was really hoping to be Crowe... I missed Ashton to death, then I discovered he wasn't a playable character... then i had to settle for Meracle. ^_^

This game is fairly simple to get into the top five of the Arena singles with Edge through sheer perseverance and alot of time. lol I got to rank 3 before i was level 90 even... but then I was stopped dead in my tracks and went on with the game itself.

I haven't played it since i opened the Seven Star Dungeon... (those damn Bees...)

What is everyones fav thing to do in the game?

He is okay.. but Edge is just so rigged/overpowered... though I will give Arumat his Nether Strike... I think that is what the skill is called where he stabs the ground and a plume of fire destroys the enemy in a column.... that attack when stacked properly is ridiculous. lol razz

He is okay.. but Edge is just so rigged/overpowered... though I will give Arumat his Nether Strike... I think that is what the skill is called where he stabs the ground and a plume of fire destroys the enemy in a column.... that attack when stacked properly is ridiculous. lol razz

Ha i'm not part of the guild but i'm here(i did send a request to join however)but yeah that's his nether strike Aumat set with two nether strikes as one trigger and two dragon roars on the other trigger is killer use the two strikes to power up the ridiculous dragon roar matched up with the quake scythe(which is bad a** unless the enemy is resistant to earth) will kill most enemies in one combo...but in all honesty reimi kicks a** if you know how to use her...just give her nothing but crimson squall as her attacks and then have atk boost and critical hit battle skills and spam away...i managed to beat the Colosseum at like lvl 70 with her alone...and SO2 is great I haven't fully beat the main game...when i got access to the extra dungeon i jumped into it and now i haven't played in about3 years but now i might

not to be rude but the story takes place in the past before Till the End of Time....you have to do like two or three quests in roak to get into the Colosseum...the explosion symbol in star ocean3 was alot better i prefer Terra Hammer(terra's my duaghter name biggrin )...i never liked faize he's a ***** lymle is only 15 and he's 18...if you think those bees are hard in the 7 star dungeon wait until you get to the wandering cave where s**t gets crazy and annoying it took me like 5 hours to get to santa clause(what i call him) and realized i needed more money so i left and went back to seven star to do the little fol cheat and the second time i went to find santa it took over 4 hours and i still havent gotten to the ethereal queen...albel is much better than arumat even though i love scythes...albels dragon roar and vampiric flash trumps arumat....yeah i'm like all into the game but all i do is stay home and take care of my daughter so i have alot of time on my hands...i'm either playin Star Ocean, Resident Evil5, or Guitar Hero

I know it takes place before 3. The story thus far has made that clear. <.<

Just been too busy taking over the assassins guild in Oblivion to play any further... ^^;;;
On the bright side, as of today, I own those beetches! >8D
