Typical question, but it should probably be asked.

Me? One of my friends impulse buys CD's based on the cover art. One day she happened to come across The Lost and Found (2nd edition or vol 2, I can never remember). After hearing them she started buying the other CD's. Then she lent them to me.

An artist friend online, at the time, mentioned his girlfriend just dragged him to one of their shows, and really enjoyed it. Names one of the songs he coudl remember.

I downloaded it, and its all history from there. =) Great thread idea, btw.

Someone I thought was cool on another forum-based site reccomended them, so I downloaded a few songs and went from there.
The What Are You Listening To thread in the Entertainment forum on dungeonofthedamned.com it's been hacked since then and the thread is long gone.
It's a really cool site though with a lot of very intelligent people on it, it's a bit like a slower-moving version of ED most of the time.

But, yeah. I was looking for new bands to listen to and someone just kinda randomly mentioned them, that's all there was.

Funny story... okay, not really.

Back when I was in the sixth grade (I'm in tenth now), one day my friend brings over a CD saying it has this awesome artist was on it called Rasputina.

I listened to the CD. It only had about eight songs from Rasputina, the rest Nine Inch Nails. I fall in love with the songs "Tourniquet" and "Call Me Alice (Life 101)" and beg for more. She says that was all she had, and I ended up paying her to borrow the CD every now and then until I got my own copy.

That's how it began. Now I listen to Rasputina with online radios, never finding any albums at music stores and what not.

I know my local Borders books and music store has Rasputina CDs. Many music stores can ORDER the CDs specially for you, often at no additional charge. I highly recommend you keep at your efforts!

I remember downloading some Manson songs, and there was this one song, with Rasputina, Transylvainian Concubine, so I downloaded it, thinking a band named Rasputina HAS to be a cool one.

And guess I was right... After listening to the song I just had to have more and more! So... I did what I do best - downloaded the rest of it. Sadly. here in Israel you cannot find a CD or anything at all, so I'm bound to go illegal. But hey! Look at the bright side, now I love this band!!

ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY RASPUTINA!!

i was actually taking one of those online quizzies that you do when you're bored, and one of the questions was "which band would you prefer?" rasputina was an option, and i thought: "...rasputina? that name's pretty awesome...i must check them out sometime." and i've been in love ever since biggrin

I was looking at some random dark wave music and saw the stuff they did with Manson, when i heard they're music I swear it was life changing.
I've never in all my time enjoyed a group so much and its so tough to get bored of them because all they're stuff is so different.

A friend of mine had purchased Frustration Plantation years ago and had me listen to it at school. I asked him if I could borrow it, so I burned a copy, and the rest I just downloaded. XD

I heard their song "You Don't Own Me" on the Gothic station on AOL Radio and decided to see if they had a My Space or anything, since I thought they were pretty good. Basically, I got more into them, went to a show in Allentown, and I've been a fan ever since.

Not ONE Buffy fan? Wow...

Heard about them from before that, though, on the news. That was probably in '96 or so.

And, Sakura, shame on you for not supporting the artist! Or do you mean you paid for them when you downloaded them? If so, then that's okay-er.

I remember when I received one of their albums I'd bought online and was opening it in front of a friend as we rode the elevator up to our dorm floor. He was so used to downloading his rap songs on free downloading programs that he asked incredulously, "You still BUY CDs?"

I was a real b***h and said, "Yes, some of us actually care about the quality of the artists whose music we listen to."

But that's the same guy who thought Ozzy Osbourne was a character made up for a TV show...*cringes*

I heard of them through through one very lovely lady's very lovely art site. I was intrigued and followed up on them, and the rest is history!

Actually there were two possible lovely ladies but I forget which one it was. Both sites are long gone now, though. Unfortunate, really.

I found Cabin Fever in a pile of dusty goth cd's at my favorite Cheapo Discs (before it closed down). I listened to it very briefly and decided to buy it right away-this was EXACTLY what I was looking for at the time.
It's strange, now that I've listened to their other music, Cabin Fever is probably my least favorite of their CD's... Mostly they feckin' rock though!

I had a couple of bands I listened to, and I wanted another band to listen to. One of my friends reccomended Rasputina about two years ago, and even though they sound nothing like the rest of my favorite bands ( "call me alice (life 101) " sorta sounds like switchblade symphony, but that's it) I still liked them.
