Also, hooray, I now owe $200 to a collection's agency because that bill from the med place that my dad said he'd pay apparently didn't get paid. Wonderful.

Nude pictures thing -

In some cases, I'd say it's not much different than teenagers with sex: naive young couples try to achieve intimacy by whatever means possible, since their parents won't let them be in a room together. Or, girls can get pressured into taking naked pictures by their boyfriends and vice versa, and perhaps they give in because they want to feel loved and wanted by their partner, like with sex.

I'm sure we could all go into "the media sexualizes people and our kids aspire to the same standards of attractiveness" and "the MySpace era" and the need to digitally document everything we do blah blah blah.

Yay, my health insurance issues got sorted out... I get to pay $200 less!

On the subject of nude today in critique was awkward and funny as hell.
We had a project of working a piece from song lyrics, just about everyone had theirs put up but one and when he put it up everyone was a bit shocked.
They weren't offended just not prepared.
Anyways, I had just finished putting up my piece when my classmate Michael came up and put up his piece of a woman giving a guy oral based off of Nickelback's Figure You Out

Personally I'm fine with the piece just wasn't expecting that kind of nude when he said he wanted to do a nude piece. sweatdrop
Anyways, that was a critique everybody was laughing about just because of how dirty minded we are. lol

As for the original topic at hand of kids with phones, camera phones/sexting.

I didn't have a phone until I was 18 only because I didn't have a use for it before hand and needed one when I was called out to jury duty at ages 18 and 19.

A kid younger then 10 doesn't need a phone period, and if there is a situation where a phone is needed get one that is extremely limited.
I remember seeing one where it only had like 6 buttons and the parent was entirely in charge of the numbers.
There one is for home, emergency, 2 cell phone#(for parents), and on and off buttons.

Teenagers have a mild need for a phone but again PARENTS are in charge of what the teen gets not the teen.
NO camera in the phones period. txting is fine in my personal opinion but it's the parents decision to allow that feature or not.
But the Parents are to have full control of their teen's phone, as it is the teen's privilege, NOT their right to have a phone.

After they turn 18 and are legally an adult their stupid actions are their own idiotic fault.

Me I've taken nude pictures of myself but after I turned 18. I have no problem showing my body at all. I'm an open person.
If I were given the option to be a nude model in life drawing(the option would never happen though) I'd probably do it, if it fit into my schedule.
I'm just that comfortable with myself, even though I'm a scrawny runt. sweatdrop

If my teen deserves it, sure, I'd give them a phone with a camera. Camera phone is a lame way to do it anyway, there's no way they'd get good angles with that thing. Gotta go high-def with a self-timed camera or real-time on webcam. (wink) By the by, my child is NOT getting a webcam. As far as I know, there's no reason a teen would want one of those before college, unless it's to be nasty.

Haha... just got a mental image of me telling my kid, "Listen, son, you need to wait until college before you have sex. Sure, there's the whole baby thing, but... saying your first time was in your parents' house is lame and creepy."

My main concern is the privacy of a teen who chooses to pose nude over a traceable medium, because of how it could hurt or embarrass him/her. But the act of sexting and screwing each other with words, and the idea of sending nude pics to someone... big deal, technophobes.

I agree with you, there is no way in hell my kid is getting a web camera.
I think the parents' house is just lame. It's only creepy if they're at home when the act is going on.
If they were to do the act I would hope they'd have the sense to use protection.

And I agree with you about that too.

the traceable medium thing, by the way... it's not just that your naked pictures might wind up in the hands of people you never intended to see them, but I mean... what about job applications in the future? what about not just getting embarrassed in front of your schoolmates in the present, but suffering repercussions down the line?

look. be as cool with your body as you want, be as free and open about it as you like, but for the love of pete be in control of the distribution. if that means taking analog photos, fine, if that means not uploading your digital photos, fine, but just be sensible.

Sure, I agree with that... especially if you're going into a controversial profession (like a CEO or politician or entertainment celebrity). Antonella Barba from American Idol and Vanessa Hudgens from High School Musical are two teens I can think of at the top of my head. Even though they must have known the risks, I feel sorry for them... the things they did were supposed to be private, but either they put their trust in the wrong people or crazy fans have ways of getting what they want. Faults and responsibilities of the offender aside, it's sad that people make such a big fuss over nude pics. It's hypocritical, too.
