I don't have the patients to use the exchange.
I sold them for 845,000g my original listing was 1million, but the prices dropped after I listed mine.
I don't think of it as a lost, I never wore them, I just sat on them for years, and I made a good killing for getting stuff that I'll wear and use.

Most important thing for rare and expensive items is to get the message out. An exchange thread is nearly impossible to keep on p.1, but you could just make it, put it in your sig and then go to the Wanted and Quests subforums and try to find people with some cash to spend. Once they realise that you are actually trying to sell it for a normal price and don't just want to get more out of it than it would cost them if they would flat-out buy it from the MP they might be willing to listen or refer you to friends of theirs.

It's still a long and painful process and it's pretty much the only reason why I don't bother selling my old donation letters. Over the past few months I quadrupled my funds from ~100k to 420k just by buying items for cheap and selling them for a little more it is far more rewarding and less stressful than trying to pawn off my investments from 2k4. razz

I just lost 73 Frank Zappa songs and my new Smells Like Children album until I can get to the Apple Store sometime this week. God, I really, really, really hope that it can get fixed without lots of money or having to get a new iPod, because I've grown attached to you, Rupert.

But if I have to get a new iPod, I just might get one of those heavy-duty mp3 players that can withstand more than a stiff ******** breeze. neutral

From my experience, iPods are reeeaaally expensive to fix - most of the time, you're better off just buying a new mp3 player.

well, at the apple store they give you a new ipod if you're still under warranty.

so, i might just have to exchange rupert.
but i'm still hoping that they'll be like, "oh, it's just this little thing -pops it open and fixes it-"

Yeah, a 25k bumping contests would have to be less than 2% of the total amount of gold you're gonna get, otherwise you might as well list it in the MP.

I've always been tempted to hold an art contest with my old junk. I have an AFK sitting around that I've pretty much never worn. @__@

But then again, I need something to fund my EI purchases now that I don't have time for my shop. (I wonder if I could throw together an auction)

Isn't the "original" usually on the computer nowadays? I don't see many artists on Gaia who color traditionally anymore... but there are a lot of digital artists whose works go for multi-millions of gold in auctions. I swear I've even seen works go for a billion. <3

I imagine you could reel in some high-end artists if you offer high-end prizes.

Yeah. I've considered holding an art contest, before. But great prizes don't always mean great entries. I've never really frequented those forums and I have no idea how to make my thread successful.

I had to cave and offer a lot more than I wanted for my OMG. Everything I had to offer deflated while the OMG went up. It was ridiculous.

Not really a rant, but I just... saw that... I think my mind is stuck back in the old thread. It was so kind to my ADD.

Like, today, Gaia decided I needed an abortion. I've been getting those horrible flash ads since I stopped fueling the admins' pot addiction. But damned if that isn't the weirdest. Snagged my IP and wanted to tell me about abortion care in my area. With flashing red and green lights. Because abortion is like Christmas!
