"You say such odd things sometimes," Senaka laughed. Looking down at herself, she took quick stock of her pains, which were surprisingly few considering her recent brush with death. Gingerly, she managed to get to her feet, though she declined Ace's hand with a gentle brush.
"I may be weakened, but I still have my Noble pride to keep. However, thank you for the offer," she chided with a grin. As she walked with him, Senaka noticed how her body felt stiffer than normal, like she had finished running for many days with only a short rest to recouperate. Forcing herself not to baby her knee where a particularly deep bite had been, she managed to minimize the limp so that it was barely noticeable.
"Lead the way."
(Thanx, I've been trying to make an outfit that goes with my fox set, and this is the best I have so far. Glad you like it. ^'^)

(I'm guessing you want me to pick what the new outfit is then? Too bad I'm doing it anyway, even if you had something in mind already. Not that I won't take your comments into consideration.)
Stopping almost made her stumble, but Senaka quickly caught herself before her legs buckled. With a grimace, she looked at the stack of clothes Ace handed her. Though she would have preferred to done her earlier outfit, she realized that it must have been destroyed from the snake beasts who were so eager to liquify her flesh. She was equaly happy that her traveling cloak at least had survived.
"Very well. I'll try not to take too long," she consented, turning to the bathroom.
Several minutes later, after a couple grunts and a few curses that no one could translate, Senaka stepped out of the room. Unlike her earlier appearance, her face was scrubbed clean and her silver hair was back in a loose braid. Tossing the towel she had used to dry her face, she closed the door behind her and looked at the man who waited for her. Subconsciously, she did a little twirl and a light blush twinged her cheeks as she presented herself for approval.
She had chosen to done the black slacks and ash grey shirt outfit. Though it was not as formal as most of the military around, she knew that it would definitely not mark her a civilian. The shirt was a little broader around the shoulders, so hung a little loosely on her frame, probably because the shirt had been intended for a man, but it didn't bother her. She had a slender frame and enjoyed the breathing room it provided. The pants were the opposite, a snug fit. She wondered how well they would last in the field, but knew humans were good for making sturdy clothing. Unlike all the rest of the staff around, she left the collar open a couple buttons, not liking the feel of it against her neck. A thin chain glinted half hidden beneath the collar. The only thing missing were the shoes. A couple pair sat in the room, she hadn't even tried them on. To compensate, she at least opted to wear the socks provided, but as a rule she generally didn't use them.

(I guess we'll just have to wait and see now, eh? ~'^)
Senaka tries not to laugh too hard as Ace explains the city's origins to her.
"I remember them well. Very ambitious, that generation." She looked up at the sky too. "It was sad that they could not better channel their anger and inner rivalries. This place would have survived better if they had," she murmured. Though it had been longer than she cared to admit, Senaka could clearly remember the nuclear wars that had literally shook the earth. In fact she was told by Noble scholars that the earth had slowed its rotation and now was closer to the sun by about a mile. It made sense now why these days were longer and hotter than she endured pre-war era.
Looking sidelong at Ace she added," What I call this place is home, no matter where I am. I do not care to name something that will be renamed before anyone truly knows it. But. . . I believe I have heard locals currently call it New Pangea."
(For the record, the land is one big continent. Pangea was a super continent in prehistoric times then split up and became the continents we know today. I figure if they keep moving away from eachother, they had to collide from the other side of the world, right? Anyway, just thought I'd clarify. And that happened a few thousand yeard before this story anyway.)

(well I don't think they have to worry about freezing just yet, I mean they are a mile closer to the sun than before. Hence all the deserts. Although I bet the poles are rather cooler, more like lush forests and such now. But they are very far away and I don't think we'll be getting to them in this story. For now, be content we are alive and in a desert. k? ^'^)
Senaka walked at Ace's side silently for a while. Looking at the caramel apple, she took a small nibble still thinking on what Ace admitted.
"I'd say I wish you luck in that endeavor, but I do not wish to lie to you. Your ambitions are grant, but your goal is far beyond your capabilities. This world cannot return to any semblence of its former self." Taking a bite she snapped the string of caramel that clung to her mouth with a slender finger. "Not in a hundred of your lifetimes."
Raising a hand to block the sun from her eyes, Senaka looked up at the ancient remnants that always broke the horizen. They were ancient structures, from an age or two ago. Some believed they were crafts to space that landed here, others believed they were great towers of power. Either way, now they were rotten skeletons of black metal that glinted in the sun and jutted out from the sand like the remains of some vast creature long dead. It was a forbidden place shrouded in mystery.
"If they knew what awaited them upon their return, I don't know that they would come back," she murmured. Honesty had always been a problem for her, she had a hard time saying anything but. It made things easier she supposed than trying to keep track of what should be said to whom and not said to another. But she felt a little sad saying this to the boy before her, whose hopes were in the stars as he prepared for a homecoming that would surely never come.
"Forgive me child. I'm afraid my tongue does not bite well."

(you know, thinking on it, when Senaka said she was born in 3000, I forgot to ad b.c. I hope you realized this yes? Well anyways. >.<)
"give me a moment. That was all very long ago," she answered with a subtle nod. Closing her eyes, Senaka sifted through her memories of past ages. Her body went very still as she let her mind drift along the time-lines.
"The first major war was in the year 2013. It was after the disappointment that 2012 had not occurred. No big earthquakes, no floods or tsunami's. Not even an excess of normal things like tornadoes and hurricanes. Several countries, America included, fought over a middle eastern country because they found a stockpile of oil. It was the last source known and each power wanted control of it. Tension gave way to anger, and anger to violence. War followed once a European country betrayed its allegiance. Many died."
Shuddering slightly, she moved forward in time slightly, her shoulders growing tense from bringing forth the memories. "Two ages passed, a hundred thousand years each. War devastated the living and tore the land asunder. My people tried to hide away, fearing such evil would corrupt them. I tried to save them. Those who wanted peace, but could not survive without fighting. They began a movement that started the age of peace. Technology arose again and humans once more explored beyond their realm. Some rose to space, wanting to start anew somewhere else, or too tired to remain and survive. Those who stayed worked with a few Nobles, unknowing who they were, and rebuilt their world. But with this industry, those who want power are bound to bring violence."
Tears silently flowed down Senaka's cheek. She seemed lost in her mind, reliving times long forgotten.
"I tried to warn them. Tried to save them from themselves. But humans have a dark nature when power is at stake. The others, those who are not human and not Noble, came in their own way soon after. Some were thought to be creatures sent from space, like explorers stranded here. Some thought they were experiments created by overzealous scientists. Many still believed they were remnants of the creatures that used to inhabit this place, evolved to endure in our ever changing world."
Breathing out a sigh, she ended it with a chuckle. "The funny thing is, they were all right. At least part of the time."
"But it didn't stop the territory wars that began. Humans and Nobles, fought everything else. Nucs weren't far behind. On the eve of what was to be a deciding battle, a meteor shower rained fire down from the night sky. It became a trigger that started the re-colliding of the continents. Fighting was forgotten as everyone tried to merely stay alive while the very earth beneath them fell away or was swallowed by water. It took several years for the aftershocks of one major quake to dissipate. When the collision stopped, seven hundred years had passed. Those who remained tried to rebuild, but it was as if the earth had decided she had had enough. Very little land is fertile and sand makes for poor building ground."
"And you are the first group I have seen in over three ages since that have the technological advances that could meet your ancestors."
Opening her eyes again, Senaka looked over at Ace. A pleading look filled her eyes as they still leaked a few tears.
"Please General. Do not make their mistakes again. Do not seek power, and do not use these means. Or I fear you will meet the same end."
(O.O wow this got totally longer than I'd thought to make it. Sorry. lol)
