Waltz for Luma I'm pretty sure we're thinking of the same thing; a glissando is when you slide from one note to another. (My hands are small, too. It's really sad when after 17 years you still can't play things in octaves cleanly...) Alright, I really have to get this off my chest. My city wants to build a damn baseball stadium in my neighborhood for the Oakland A's. Literally down the street. Literally in my neighbor's back yard. And a few blocks away from the local elementary school. It's outrageous. They've been studying the "site" for almost 2 years now. My neighborhood is made of immigrant success stories. People who came to the USA with nothing, people who worked hard to making a living to move to this peaceful area to raise their kids and put them in good schools. What will this stadium do to our property values? Crime rate? 10,000 extra cars driving around? Pollution, litter, noise, people being stuck in their homes during game nights? The worst part is how the city is planning this behind closed doors; the people haven't even had a chance to ******** VOTE on it.They say it will "bring revenue" and "help local businesses"... Oh, really? If it was so great, why did all of the big businesses oppose having the stadium built in the commercial district?! My family and I went to a protest last night, along with like 800 other people. Really, I'm so mad about this. I wish I knew what I could do... I've joined my city's online citizen network and offered to volunteer for any future events... I hope we can get the city council to listen to us.
That right there says how much they know people aren't going to like it.

DSL is highspeed.
Anything that isn't dialup is.
ISDN? I forget what acronym it is, but it was basically "high speed dial up"... but it still wasn't high speed.
DSL, Cable are bottom tier high speed. /prod
Also, welcome to the world of 2 GB... I remember...oh *cracks back*, many a years ago, when I joined that realm...
I'm getting an 8700+ (Or better) duo-core, 4GB DDR2 RAM, 9800GT(1GB), and some other sexiness. But those are the specs I care about most.
mmm. can't wait. But it'll be a long while.

Sevi Rais Aivi: Oh I guess we were. I was wondering if it was more complicated than what I read. heh So you were a part of this? That's great that you went out and protested it. That's really all you can do...unless you want to attend town hall meetings and such that relate to that. Not sure if they are going to have one since it's suppose to be behind closed doors. The article says that they let the protesters participate in an Q&A session but...it doesn't change anything (right now). What a stupid location to have a baseball field. They already have one, why make another? But I guess if they already had the plans in motion 2 years ago, I don't know if they are going to stop it.
Yeah, I was a part of the Q&A session that they mentioned. It was just an improvised informational session, no city council members present or anything. Although some of us wanted to ask legit questions and get answers, most people simply wanted to use the opportunity to show their anger. But that tends to happen when you let hundreds of hostile people into a room...
There's another protest tomorrow night, at a different school... I'm thinking of going to that one, too.
[Edit] About them "having one" already, the A's are currently located in another city (notorious for its violence/crime). They share that stadium with a football team, but they're being kicked out, which is why they're pursuing a location in my city. The "original site" that your article mentions is the commercial area about a mile or two from my house, where they originally intended to relocate, but the big corporations there are opposed to the stadium plans. So instead, the A's have scouted out a new location - the residential area, three blocks from my house!
[Edit again] Discovered this public radio interview about my town, sports franchises and new stadiums: http://www.kqed.org/epArchive/R902061730
