Anthem Singers.

Who is or was the best national anthem singer in the NHL? I'd have to say either Lauren Hart or Kate Smith, but those are biased.

I would have to say that the gentelmen in Ottawa does the best job in the NHL. His voice is wonderful and he can really sing.

My favourite is Joe Kaiser, by a longshot. He has a booming, powerful, passionate voice. Best singer I've heard for any sports event.

I agree the OPP Constible Lyndon Slewidge pours his heart and soul into singing the anthem and he's been doing it for the past 14 seasons.

Fast Fact: He can also sing the anthems of Russia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Sweden, Finland, USA, Britain, Italy, Japan and Germany.

I still say Kate Smith and Lauren Hart singing God Bless America together is the best , save the time someone played the anthems on the guitar at ACC.

Of course I'm a fan of Ronan Tynan singing God Bless America, but he doesn't sing the national anthem.

I added the poll because today I heard a debate over if we sing the anthems before sporting events. I say that we should because it is a tradition, and a good anthem fires up the crowd and players:

But you can argue that if people start booing, it makes the games into a political statement, and that if there are more foreign born players than Canadians on a Canadian team or Americans on an American team, there is no real point.

My I add that when God Bless America is sung before a Flyers game, the Flyers are 75 20 and 4.
