Greetings in the powerful and righteous name of Jesus!
What do you think of when someone mentions praying or walking in the Holy Spirit?
Strange as it may seem, some very well meaning people in the modern 21st Century church are put off by the very mention of the Holy Spirit. Mostly, I suspect, it's because people do not fully understand who the Holy Ghost is and what His mission is.
Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, instructed His disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they were sent a comforter to guide them after He ascended into heaven. 'Here are the words of Jesus in John 14:16 and 14:26. - And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another comforter, that He may abide with you for ever; But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.' The comforter is the person who enters into our hearts, souls, and minds and who was, is, and who ever will be the third person of the trinity of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. His mission is to lead, guide, and direct us into witnessing about His power and glory. As a Christian, you may find it hard to explain how Jesus changed you're life and turned you from a path of sin and destruction. Jesus tells us, again in the gospel of John, how the Holy Spirit or "Comforter" will also be you're source of power in sharing Him with others. John 15:26, reads: 'But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of Truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:' You don't need a special license or miraculous talents in order to witness. All you have to do is "fully surrender" to the Holy Spirit of God and walk through the doors He opens. God's Holy Spirit will give you strength, courage you never knew you had.
Jesus refers to the Holy Spirit in John 14:17 as the "Spirit of Truth." You knew the spirit of truth the moment you accepted Christ as personal Savior and Lord. You may may not have realized at the time, but He is the one who keeps you excited about you're salvation and who gives you the burden to share Him with others. From that moment on, you were called to witness for Jesus and the Holy Ghost became an advocate on you're behalf before the heavenly Father.
Let me urge you to surrender more each day and listen to His voice. He has changed you're life; it's time to follow Him and lead others to Him. The beloved John tells us that the Holy Spirit is our advocate before the throne of grace.
Look at 1st John 2:1, "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
If we have fed on the bread of life, it's our calling and obligation to share that bread of the gospel with others. You can be assurred, that calling or burden for sharing Christ will never diminish as long as you yeild entirely to His will and purpose.
You're brother in the family of God, and in the Lord's Army; Philip - The Hudson Hawk
