Castiel was slowly becoming as relaxed as he was with anyone else. Normally, it took a week for him to become this relaxed around a person, but there was something about Dean. He was just so casual and genuine in the way he carried himself. Castiel found himself trusting him faster than anyone he had ever met outside of his family. Not only that, Castiel’s OCD tendencies/over-worrying about Sam’s arriving home on time, seemed to be soothed by the presence of Dean.

By the time, Castiel had finished his tea, he looked back at Dean as he asked him what he liked to do with his free time. Then the other proceeded to finish his beer. With a small smile, Castiel turned for a moment to place his and the abandoned cup of tea in the sink. Then the dark brown haired male walked back to the fridge and pulled two beers out.

“I like to read, I also like to learn new things about people and life in general. I have a lot of cousins and relatives around the world, so they will send me postcards and letters about their travels. Compared to them, I’m pretty much one of the dullest one of the family. But I have branched out a lot since moving out here to go to school with my brother. He is studying to get a law degree like your brother, so they actually often share classes together. That is actually how I formally met Sam. Sam needed to find an apartment, and I had one already with an extra bedroom.” Castiel told Dean calmly. His tone was still pretty neutral, but something about it seemed happy. He like someone being interested in his life for a change. Not many people were.

As Castiel spoke he handed Dean one of the beers, and then opened his own beer. “My brother and Sam complain to me that I don’t ever have fun, so I am going to have a beer with you, because you seem like good company and it’s friday, so I feel as though, it would be a great way to hang out with you.” Castiel stated as he took a large sip of the beer. He looked like he might spit it back up for a moment, but he swallowed it a moment later with slight difficult. All of the sips after that seemed to go down fine as his taste buds became numb to it.

As Castiel continued to talk, he told Dean about some of his favorite books. Most of the books weren’t even from this century, and some weren’t even available, except in Latin. Castiel told Dean about the fact that for his major he learned how to read Latin; Hebrew; and both ancient and modern Greek. Then because of his family, he was could fluently speak and read German, Russian, French, Spanish (European Spanish), and Mandarin Chinese well enough to carry on a completely conversation. Some he was better at than others, but he could definitely translate the languages for the most part.

Of course, Castiel, despite not having a strong taste for it, continued to drink with Dean. Within the next twenty minutes, they had finished off the first 6-pack, and were halfway through another. At some point, they had moved into the small living room, and Castiel was sitting on the table with his legs crossed while Dean was on the couch in front of him. The half empty 6-pack was out of the fridge and sitting next to Castiel on the table. He was currently telling Dean about a trip to China, he took with his brothers when he was fifteen years old. Castiel, since he didn’t drink practically ever, was well on his way to being drunk since he was on his fifth beer.

Being that Castiel was becoming more and more drunk, his emotions were coming alive. Suddenly, he was smiling and laughing at every story Dean told, and giggling through his own. All of his gestures were huge and he seemed to be full of life suddenly. It was almost a complete change from where he started. “And then right as we were about to start gambling these Chinese street thugs, My father comes up behind us, and starts yelling all kinds of things in Chinese, which we couldn't’ understand of course, so we were scared out of our minds!” Castiel laughed happily before finishing his beer. He couldn’t even taste the beer at this point.

It was right about this time, that Sam and Gabriel came walking into the door just in time, to hear Castiel laughing at his own story and see him practically tumble off of the coffee table he was sitting on. Sam’s eyebrow instantly twitched into a disgruntled position, as he tried to think, who Castiel even knew that he could get drunk with. If it was one of his family, Gabriel would have wanted to come back to the apartment to seem them since their family was always really close with each other.

As Sam walked farther in his apartment, he finally laid eyes on Dean, who was sitting on the couch with a beer in his hand. “Dean? What are you doing here?” He asked immediately, unsure how Dean even knew where he lived. It wasn’t like he came to visit all the time. He didn’t even help Sam move out here. “And why is Cas-” Sam tried to get out, before Castiel was up off the table and hugging Sam. “SAM! You’re back! You’ll never guess who showed up at the door! Your brother!” Castiel yelled happily as he continued to hugged the larger male. “Yes, I see that Dean is here, now why is he here?” Sam asked as he directed the question at Dean and not the practically drunk Cas attached to him.

Okay, so Castiel turned out to be pretty freakin' awesome once he had a few beers in him. Granted, he was starting to open up more before he started really drinking with Dean, too, but Dean didn't think the guy was ******** capable of ******** smiling like that. By his fifth beer, the guy was so lax, sitting atop the coffee table, laughing his a** off at Dean's stories about back home and when he and Sam were younger, not to mention some of the just outlandish things that had happened to him over the years and since Sammy had gone off to college. And then when Castiel told his stories, he couldn't make it a few sentences in without breaking out into a fit of giggles, and damn it if Dean didn't think that was adorable.

Castiel was the only one feeling the repurcussions of drinking. Dean wasn't nearly as sloshed as Castiel was, but he had a pretty good buzz goin' on considering he was on his fourth beer. He couldn't keep the grin off of his face as Castiel told his story about trying to gamble with Chinese street thugs, laughing every now and then when the other giggled a little too long and lost track of what he was saying.

He laughed hard when Castiel finished his story, invisioning the hilarity of how startled a little Castiel would be when his father bursted in and started shouting in fluent Chinese. It kind of reminded him of when his dad caught him out at a bar he had snuck into and had his first beer thanks to the guys that invited him over bought him. He was fourteen then, and that was his first beer.

He opened his mouth to continue their trend of trading stories, then stopped as soon as he heard Sam say his name. His eyes turned from the wavering Castiel to his tall brother, grin faltering when he saw the confused face. He moved to stand up and greet his brother, but Castiel got to him first. He snorted out a laugh as he watched the guy stumble over to Sam and envelope him in a hug. That probably never happened.

His attention was pulled back to Sam when it was inquired again what he was doing there. His smile fell almost completely from his face, and transformed into the close-lipped, almost sheepish smile that he always wore when he was either hiding something or didn't want to talk about it.

"Wow, Sammy. Good to see you, too," he said sarcastically, standing and walking over to his brother. He looked down at Castiel, who was still latched onto poor Sam. He placed both hands on Cas's shoulders and patted them a bit to tell him to release, then guided him back to the couch to sit down. "C'mon, Buddy. You probably need to sit," he told him then handed him the half-empty beer he left on the coffee table when he attacked Sam then turned back to Sam to and the shorter guy that he just noticed was standing behind him. "Who's the shorty?" he asked blandly.

Dean got a face pulled at him for that, and Gabriel rolled his eyes. "Oh, good one, Chuckles. How long did it take you to come up with that golden material?" he snorted, causing Dean to give him a bewildered look, and then an offended one. "Oh, look, now he's pouting," Gabe teased and walked over to the couch, flopping down next to his brother.

"Damn, Cassie, why don't you get all fun when I'm around? All it takes is a stranger to come in your house for you to get all partied up? Sam, next time we get pizza, we're inviting the pizza guy in for a party, deal?" he called over to Sam, who seemed to be having a stare-down with his brother.

Sam’s face slowly sinking deeper and deeper into a solemn look of displeasure. All the expressions of happiness that were there before were now nowhere to be found, and Sam once again had on his chronic bitchface. What mess had Dean gotten into now? And not only had he gotten himself into trouble, he had showed up here like Sam was supposed to drop his entire life to run off and help him fix it. Sam honestly thought that by moving all the way out here, he could escape this. The train wreck that always happened when Dean was in town. Dean was reckless, cocky, and didn’t give a damn what he left in his aftermath. Sam didn’t want that here… He didn’t want Dean to wreck all the progress he had made out here by himself.

“Dean, don’t play dumb with me, you didn’t come out here just to see me, you came out here because you need something from me.” Sam replied back in a glaring tone. Sam always did have a way with moving right passed all the bullshit, and just confronting people, especially with Dean. He wasn’t going to let Dean play this ruse with him. Not like all the other times before. He came into his flat, uninvited, and not only that, he got his roommate drunk. With his booze for that matter.

Castiel was completely happy with his new position around Sam’s chest. Sam was so warm right now, even though Cas could feel that he was tense, it was still nice. “Awww, Sammie, why don’t you like Dean? He is so cool.” Cas mumbled a little as Dean pulled him off of Sam. Sam gave the short haired brunette a very pointed look, before he abandoned that ship and let Dean guide him to couch. What was even better was Dean handed him his beer! Beer was so great! Especially when you chugged it and can barely taste it. Castiel started to drink heavily from his bottle, before Sam reached pass Dean and took it away from him while Dean was distracted with Gabriel.

“Hey man, get your own,” Cas whined a little as he looked up at Sam. He looked mad, which was funny for some reason, now. Chuckling a little, Castiel started to reach for another one on the table. To which Sam managed to get to first. How in the world did Sam manage to get so fast. It was like he wasn’t human. A little bewildered, Cas watched as Sam took all the unfinished bottles of alcohol into the kitchen a few feet away. Castiel thought about whining for Sam to stop being such a party pooper, but Gabe pulled his attention off the drinks. “Well no, it isn’t that, I suppose. It just felt right to have a beer… or three with Dean.” Cas tried to explain, but his thought process wasn’t exactly working. “Plus, I know you, and I’m comfortable being myself around you. I wanted to seem cooler, you know, and beer is cool.”

Sam let out an exhausted sigh as his eyes zeroed in Dean again. “You peer pressured my roommate into drinking my beer with you, Dean.” The statement wasn’t a question. It was basically Sam doing his accusatory statement of the situation. Another classic Sam move to go right along with his b***h face.

“Sammm, don’t be mad, Dean just misses you, and came alllllll the way out here to see your beautiful, shinning face...and you are just being mean.” Cas pointed out as he attempted to get off couch with what looked like extreme effort.

“Cas, sit, I’m making coffee,”

“Okay..” Castiel plopped immediately back down next to his brother. “...why is he making coffee, it is like 5 in the afternoon?” Castiel asked in what seemed like an attempt at whispering to Gabriel, but came out as just normal talking with in a whisper voice.

Okay, so, maybe Sam had a reason to be skeptical that Dean had come all the way out just to visit him, because, well, that wasn't the only reason. Granted he did miss his big little brother. A lot, actually. He wished that was the only reason he had come out here. Sam had a right to not believe him, but to accuse him of pressuring Cas into drinking with him? Now he was just insulted.

"Hey, now. I get it. You're pissed. But don't accuse me of s**t when you weren't even here," he snapped, a grouchy look on his face now in the form of a frown. "I didn't pressure him into anything. I tried freakin' tea for cryin' out loud." He crossed his arms over his chest as he stood his ground. "I was fine drinking my beer while he had his tea. He decided by himself to drink the beer. I'll buy you another box if it bothers you so freakin' much."

Gabe looked over at his brother and rose an eyebrow at him, an amused smirk quirked on his lips. "He's making coffee because you're drunk and need to sober up before you get a hangover," he told his brother, patting him on the head like a child. "Don't you worry your pretty little head."

Dean's attention was brought over to the brothers on the couch. Cas was more drunk than he thought he'd gotten, and that was Dean's fault for not paying attention. His shoulders visibly dropped, and he ran a hand down the side of his face. "Okay, look," he started as he walked into the kitchen with Sam. "I don't want you pissed at me. I missed you, man. But you're right. I do need something from you. I just need to crash on the couch for a few days until I can get a solid job going for now. I ran outta money for motel rooms. I've been stayin' in those for a few weeks now." He leaned back against the counter beside the coffee maker. "I just need to get a job, and I'll pay you back for the beer and give you some money for letting me stay as soon as I get paid. Then I'll be back on my feet and out of your perfect little world again. I just need the couch for, like, a week."

"Ooooh, sounds like Daddy trouble to me," Gabriel, who had a problem with eavesdropping, whispered over to his brother. "As far as I knew, he was staying with their dad at their childhood home from what Sammy said. Daddy drama," he sang out quietly. He also had a problem with gossip.

Dean rolled his head on his shoulders and glared over at Gabriel with a scowl on his face. "I don't like that little s**t," he grunted, shifting uncomfortably beside his brother. "Emphasis on 'little'," he said a little louder, which sent Gabriel cackling. Dean was fun to ******** with.

Sam was well on his way into the small kitchen and immediately started pulling all he needed out of the cabinets to make the coffee produce its magic. Filters, coffee grounds, some mugs. It was almost mechanical, except the exuberance of outward aggression. Maybe Sam grew to be this way, because he just was used to being the mother. He had to take care of his brother; hell even his father, pretty much since he was able to walk. They both wanted to play the big and bad protectors, but they were both pretty much too focused to function in normal society. Sam, on the other hand, only wanted to be normal. He didn’t want to be son to the crazy and obsessed, and brother to the blind follower of his father. In fact, here he didn’t even tell most people his father was still around and he had a brother. His family had basically become exactly what Dean was standing in his living room was. The big elephant in the room that Sam basically just attempted to constantly ignore.

“Once again, Dean, you are completely avoiding the point. The point is that you shouldn’t have just invited yourself into my apartment to do anything, let alone break out the alcohol.” Sam grumbled, in a lower tone now. Fighting with Dean was exhausting, and honestly he didn’t want to fight with his brother. He honestly just didn’t want his brother to be here. Dean had a magical way of complicating things. Of basically making Sam want to move across the country… again.

Sam had deflated to just the expression of anger as he continued to make the coffee by the time Dean physically entered the kitchen domain. Sam didn’t look at him directly, at personal fear that he would be attempted to start screaming. Instead, he stared daggers at the black liquid dripping down into the pot on the black and silver kitchen appliance. His anger dissolved though as Dean actually fessed up to why he was here. He drove across the country for a couch? It didn’t exactly seem the most logical thing to do. “I thought you were staying with dad. Did something happen?” Sam asked as he finally looked at his brother. He looked almost ready to beg… or as close to looking like he would as Dean possibly could. His angry quickly replaced by concern Sam looked back out of the kitchen at Gabriel and Cas.

“Let’s go talk in my room.” Sam said very pointedly as he locked eyes with Gabriel in the living room, but pulled Dean by the arm to signify that he was actually asking his brother to speak with him privately, not who he was looking at.

Castiel didn’t seemed to be too concerned with the brothers in the kitchen, or even Gabriel on the couch next to him. He could tell Gabriel was just trying to poke fun at him and then Dean, but Dean and Sam didn’t seem to take too kindly to Gabriel’s comments that he only thought he was saying quietly. As he watched the two brothers leave them, Castiel looked back at his own brother. With a slight head tilt, Cas said, “I think you upset them, you should probably be more careful what you say.”
