In this day and age, and for centuries past, wars have been fought because of religion. The world may end because of religion. People are too stupid to realize that killing each other because they believe in something you don't, or vice versa, just doesn't make sense. If I could, I would obliterate all religion from people's brains. That way, almost every war would have happened.
Israeli-Palestinian Conflict Two groups of people, the Israelites and the Palestinians, have been fighting for centuries. Why? Because God, or Allah, said that Abraham's people get the Holy Land. Where is the Holy Land? A little strip of desert with no value called Israel. Christianity, Judaism, and Islam all get their roots from Abraham. See why they are fighting? No? Well, the Muslims believe that Allah was talking about them when he said,"Hi, Abraham. Guess what? Your people get the Holy Land." So the Muslims, (Palestinians), are fighting the Jews, (Israelites), because they think they get the Holy Land. Now the Jews are thinking the same thing, only one difference: They are truly Abraham's people, so they get the Holy Land. Now why, WHY, do they care about a narrow strip of land roughly the same size of Rhode Island, maybe smaller? Because they think God gave it to them. This is a major version of little kids learning how to share. 'Cept this may kill us all. Congratulations, you silly people.
World War II: The Reign of Adolf Hitler I assume you all know who Adolf Hitler is. I assume all of you know about the Holocaust. And you know what this horrific event in history is based on? Religion, naturally. More than six million Jews died during the Holocaust. Why? Because Adolf Hitler hated them. He blamed everything on them. The reason why he was so racist is unknown, but to conclude it, he hated them. He rose to power during a very, very weak time in the world, especially for Germany. The Germans had lost everything during World War I, and were still suffering. Adolf Hitler, Nazi Supreme, decides this is the best shot he has at taking power, expanding Germany into an Empire, and killing off the people he hates. He covers it up by saying many Germans are decendents of the "Aryan" race, a super race among humans, who are better than everyone else. A motivating speaker, almost everyone in Germany loved him. He was a god. So they followed him. They did what he wanted. Which was kill.
So let me ask you this: Is religion really worth millions of peoples' lifes? No matter what religion you are, someone out there hates you, just because you are that religion. These are only two instances of religious destruction/war. There are too many more. Discuss your views on this, debate if you thing religion is a good thing, but please be literate about it. biggrin

Honestly, people must ultimately accept the fact that people have different views. For the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, neither is willing to settle, for they both find religous importance in the land.
Someone told me that religion is trying to do things to get yourself closer to God, or whatever higher power(s) you may believe in. Beliefs are important to many people, and improve most people's morals, while on the extreme other end, people take certain religous texts too seriously, hurting others.

*serious lecture face*
Religion is for those who want to be religious. Just because someone is whatever religion they are, doesn't give everybody the right to hate them and murder them and rip out there intestines and eat them.
In fact, nobody really does that......it's just gross.

Chester luver Music In My Eyes Religion is for people who can't come to terms with logic D:< -shifty eyes- I agree with her I disagree completely. I am not one to be overly religous, when at times I have questioned my faith. Even though I believe a religion, it doesn't mean I don't come to terms with logic. Actually, I think it is the other way around. Belonging to a religion, you have to look over things carefully, to prove that you believe things, testing your faith. I look over evolution and such more carefully becuase I look at it carefully.

You know something I don't get? Why can't people just come to terms that others don't believe the same things that they do? I mean, it's not like a religion is hurting anybody. Yeah, I get that sometimes wars can be held over religion, but that's only because we as humans don't know how to deal with people different then us.
Besides, what does evolution have to do with anything? I mean, yeah science says that we evovled from primates. It makes sense. I mean, people don't just magically appear on the Earth. No offense, Kiko, but people just don't.

I agree with Rainy. I was having a discussion in school with my friend. She's a total book nerd. Let's call her Kate. (Sorry if I offended anyone with the name.) So here it is:
Me: Hey Kate. This book here (Twilight) is so awesome. It is now my bible. (By the way, I'm half athiest, but I follow some of the principles of Buddhsim. Like meditating.)
Kate: That's awesome. So your not religious?
Me: Nope.
Kate: Same here. I don't really believe that people just kinda appeared on earth. I believe in the big bang and all that.
Me: Yeah so do I.
Totally religious creepy goth kid: YOU WILL ROT IN HELL!
Me: stare
Kate: eek
There you have it people.

Not only the whole 'people magically appear on earth' thing also the whole Adam and Eve thing. that's another thing that doesn't make sense. If we were to get married and have children we'd all be having incest. Its a little creepy. Therefore, it'd be odd. So yeah.... geebus i didn't know some people could get that offencive over it... so i edited it.... I DONT WANT ANY CRAP ABOU IT EITHER

But isn't it only considered incest if it is 2nd cousin or closer? Yes, you have relatives, but most people would be so distant it would be nearly impossible to trace.

Umm...Chester? What does incest have anything to do with ***** personally, am Wiccan. Now, before you shoot me down, I do not neccesarily believe in everything Wiccans do. For instance, the ability to cast spells. Do I believe in magic? To some extent. One of the main principles of Wicca I believe in is the belief in whatever you do comes back to you three-fold. So if you kill someone, you will be punished three-fold that way. In a way, I believe in Karma.

Personally I might start studying it sinceit sounds totally awesome but i have a source to get the books from (not saying who)

Neither are for Satanism. And Chester, I didn't say you didn't, I asked you what ***** has to do with Incest.
Pentagrams are the formations made out of chalk on the ground, used for summoning demons. Or spectres. Demons only like being summoned if they can find a way to be free. The love causing havoc on the Material Plane. Back in the Abyss, they can't do much. But a well made pentagram can keep demons in the centre, and you can force them to make a deal with you. You can banish them, or pretty much anything else. So it's really not an unholy act, summoning a demon to do your will. Unless you use it to do unholy things. Like kill someone.
