Ryn 'gazed' out on the lush landscape before him. Well, he didn't really see it, being blind, but with the branches on his shoulders, he could sense where everything was, and could paint a picture in his mind of what the outside world to him was relaly like. A bee on a flower, a bird on a branch, or... he stiffened. Or an ulaya with butterfly wings. He was in a good mood today, he really was. But his defination of a good mood, well, to others it might be... different. He grinned slightly, exposing his sharp ragged teeth.

He was in the mood for some company today, as long as this butterfly ulaya wasn't like others he had met. Bubbly, like a posessed valley girl. He barked a harsh laugh, then settled down on a warm rock to wait. If she continued the direction she was going, she wouldn't be able to miss him.

He folded in his wings, then streached them out again. It was too warm a day to ignore the chance to relish in the sunlight.

The delicacy of her pale wings mirrored her calm disposition. Every step was light and easy as though, even without the help of her wings, she was floating across the warm landscape. Despite that soft appearance, her sharp and steady eyes contrasted her physique as it flickered over her path. Suddenly, as though the winds shifted oddly, her butterfly wings shuttered and that shiver ran through her body. She turned her attention, twitched her ears, and found herself admiring a strange creature.

He was like nothing she had seen before. His cruel appearance, which should have frightened or unsettled her, beckoned her to approach. From the blank white eyes to the cold branches emerging from his shoulders, Shizuka found herself taking in everything with a foreign shyness. However, she caught that irritating emotion in time. ''Her shy? Impossible,' She thought defiantly as she approached the male after a surge of confidence or bravery.

However, once she got to him, she suddenly felt her throat go dry and the stern words lost from her tongue.
"Hi," was all her usually bright mind managed.

Ryn raised an eyebrow as his blank eyes focused to where this butterfly ulaya should be. 'Hi' was all she could come up with? It amused him, to more extent than it normally should. At least she didn't seem to be a ditz, ditzes were very bad. He remembered the kit who had barreled down the hill into him, that kit he did not like, at all.

Kits were okay in general, but Ryn was not a father figure. He touched a branch to the ground, and picked up on all the vibrations instantly. He could tell from the way the vibrations hit the ulaya that she would be deemed as 'pretty' in a normal world. Elegant butterfly wings, and long hair. Ryn was interested by this, not many other ulaya had real hair, him and this new ulaya being the exception.

He delicatly stood up, he could tell this butterfly ulaya was scared of him, but not in a terrifying way. Ryn tended to have that effect on others, he was scary, but an interesting scary. He ventured a guess that this ulaya was more curious, than actually wanting to have a conversation with him. He sighed heavily, and said in his rough voice,

"Before you ask, I'll tell you. One, yes these branches on me are alive. Two, I can see everything. Three, I'm blind." A quirky smile settled on his face. If this ulaya was truely as intelectual as he thought her to be, she would figure out how he could 'see' just by the three clues he just gave her. He raised another eyebrow, insuinating the challange.

His voice snapped her muddled mind out of a luring trance and caused her to step back, realizing now that he had stood. However, that back-step was not from fear but defense as her body lowered slightly and her wings opened out of instinct. There was just something about his whole presence that puts her on edge even though her mind struggled against her body to remain calm and composed.

There was also arrogance in his face that was most likely adapted from frequent meeting with dim-minded ulayas. Shizuka knew this well because her own façade often carries that same touch of conceit. Therefore, it was only natural he would take advantage of his sharp tongue to try muddling her brain a little to test her wits. However, she'll have him know that her mind was back and irritated at this daring challenge.
"Quiet a contradiction: you see everything yet consider yourself blind."

Then, a ghost of a grin passed her lips. "Perhaps I don't care or not enough to ask."

The corners of Ryn's mouth turned up at her response. She was quite the thinker, even if she was wrong. He tossed his tail lightly, hearing the bracken crackle. Since this ulaya was not dumb, he would refrain from antagonizing her. Or at least, he would try to. He laughed harshly, and said, "Anything would be better than this, even that. And that, I might comment on, is an outlook for those who take everything for granted." His narrowed his eyebrows, just thinking of those kinds of ulaya made him angry.

He continued on, in a harsher voice, "No, I am blessed," he said blessed with a mockery in his voice, "With apparently a higher calling than mere sight." He growled slightly, "I am blind, through and through. When I open my eyes all I see is darkness. Instead I have a very acute sense of touch. I miss nothing, everything lets off vibrations. By simply touching one of my branches to the ground, thats my sight." He sighed softly, it was a burden, but not this butterfly ulaya's to bear. He was intrigued by her last comment, and said softly, "Why would you care?"

Shizuka's dark eyes were locked onto his every movement. She winced slightly at the crackling and snaps of his tail then felt mind ease back, slightly irritated at his callous laughter. There was cruelness in his voice that was laced with a sense of pride towards his own burden of a blind sight. Perhaps that's what attracted her towards him: his dark sense of truth offered quite bluntly to anyone whether they wish for it or not. There was none of that powdered sweetness that she was use coming across, mostly from males.

The way he described his 'eyes' were intriguing for someone like Shizuka who loved the beauty of the world and the colors swept across the lands. She couldn't imagine it any different. Her easy thoughts were snapped back by his dark retort that turned her words much harsher than she had first intended.
"That's right, why would I?" she echoed. "But doesn't mean I don't."

Her eyes lifted and caught the blaze of the sun and flickered over an uncontrollable curiosity. Her body shifted its weight forwards subconsciously and her paws grew restless. She had a little voice in her mind that desired to touch those protruding branches. Would it be sensitive? Would it snap back or retaliate?
"Is there," she started slowly, "color in your world?"

Ryn flicked an ear curiously. This female didn't seem perterbed by his attitude, that was new. This one was different, an intelictual being, craving for knowlege, even if she didn't know it herself. It intrigued him, and he wanted to know more. He was also a little mystefied at her comment, the, 'doesn't mean I don't' one.

He tensed slightly as he felt her weight shift forward on the ground, and he braced himself, willing his body not to jump up and skitter backwards. Usually the ulaya he met leaned back, far far back, until they could not see him. She was definatly curious, yes, that fact was established. But about what?

Ryn was surprised that she would even think to ask such a question, and he had to think to come up with an understandable answer. "Yes...and no." He folded a paw over another. "I know basic things, like the leaves are green in the spring, red yellow and orange in the fall, then brown and fall in the winter. And that the grass is green, the sky is blue, and dirt tends to be a brownish red color." He frowned, and continued, "But I don't actually know color" He figited, trying hard to make his thoughts clear,

"Its...difficult to explain. I guess you could say I make up what the colors look like by things that have them. For example, for green, I think of it as a springy, lively thing, like a leaf, and brown would be like stroaking a paw over the soft fur of a kitten. Blue is easy, blue is like water, moving and changing, cool to the touch. Orange and Red and Yellow are difficult to differentiate. They are both like fire, warm and inviting, but with a harsh bite. Purple, I don't really know purple. Gray is the rough surface of a rock, solid. And black, black is like the cool night air that ruffles your pelt. White is newly fallen snow, icy and squishy, though it melts in your paw."

Ryn's words and descriptions were entrancing as she lowered her head slightly and closed her eyes in attempt to imaging that way of thinking. However, it was difficult to suppress the colors from flashing across her mind when she thought of them. As she lifted her eyelids the word, "Fascinating" drifted from her lips in a breathless whisper. She offered a soft grin, not really caring whether or not he caught onto it. There was so much about him that was fascinating and she didn't see a fine reason why that was bad. Different, to Shizuka, was thrilling.

For an often formally composed ulaya, Shizuka was oddly on edge. She had her body at ease and very calm but the tips of her paws and the ends of her hairs filled with intensity and excitement. The air seemed to be filled with that tension between the two vastly different emotions and energy emitted from the butterfly ulaya.

Finally, she couldn't withstand the curiosity blooming from inside her little body.
"If," she started with a slight hesitation in her voice but, at the same time, pressed her body forwards more and enough to cause her to give a small step forwards, "Someone were to touch those branches," she tilted her head with thought, "how would it feel? Are they extremely sensitive? They don't, at all, look delicate." There was a lingering silence.

Suddenly, Shizuka looked flustered if not irritated at herself. Her body moved back to a neutral position and her forward paw shifted back so she could stand properly squared before him.

Ryn could tell by the way she sat on the ground that she was intensly curious about the way he thought of 'colors'. He knew she would never be able to think that way, colors were already imprinted on her mind as the solid things they were. THough he knew she was trying. It made him a little uneasy how eager she was, how she took that small step forward.

He mentally flinched as she asked about his branches. It was such a...a blunt thing. Though he couldn't really blame her. After all, how many other ulaya with branches on themselves had she met?

He smiled wanly, and said in a firm voice, "You would feel a tree. They are very sensitive, extremly so. But not enough that a simple touch would hurt." He was a little confused at why she jumped back, but didn't let it show.

The comment brought light to her eyes as his descriptions seemed familiar. "Much like my wings but I suspect mine are more easily broken." As though suddenly aware of their presence, she opened and closed those butterfly wings slowly to test out the sweet air. Although there were no nerves in her wings, they were fair enough that each touch ran tremors through the whole face and down to a very sensitive nerve in her back. A careful stroke could send delicious tremors through her body just as a harsh tug could cause her to yield.

As her last thoughts began to clear, Shizuka took minute to observe the male. She made herself draw back to access the situation and his appearance since she remembered his smile and features seem a falter slightly at her previous words. The green female could describe it as faint discomfort and she felt a dark emotion in her that seemed quite satisfied to bring out such reactions. Purposefully, but casually, she took a few slow steps towards him with clear eyes as though sliding her paw across the canvas to find the fine edge his unease where he would be the one to move back and turn away from her approach if he would.

Ryn let out a low cough, "It depends on what season it is." Though he realized if he left it at that then she would be quite confused, and ask him more questions. He clarified, "Just as tree's die in the winter, so do my branches. And they renew themselves in the spring, and turn gold and red in the fall." He felt this was a fairly adequete explanation, being an ulaya of very few words.

He felt her gaze intensify on him, and he felt a low chill run down his back. He hated others staring at him, though this wasn't as bad, as it was more of an examing glance than a, 'omigod look at that freak' stare. His ear twitched, in grim humor. All of a sudden he tensed and froze as she moved towards him. Basically, turning stone. He was very good at it, not even seeming to breath. It was a natural reaction. He hated having anyone get close to him, he was so aware of his surroundings now that he had stopped listening to anything, and sense had become his primary tool as to what was happening.

His voice lingered in her mind as did his words which suddenly reminded her of the presence of his branches and reminded her that they were as much alive as he. Unfortunately for him, the comment or explanation only succeeded in fueling her curiosity more. Vaguely, Shizuka was surprised Ryn didn't find her more irritating than he showed. Then again, it was quite uncommon that the green ulaya found such an interest in someone or something or another.

As his body stilled and chilled at her approach, she felt a dark amusement run through her mind and found she addicted to his strange reactions. If her approach distressed him, shouldn't he move away? She was bracing herself to impact a boundary that would keep her from approaching. After all, there should be an urge for the other, Ryn, to move away once that barrier of space was obstructed; however, he never did. Her eyes glowered in interest as her body stopped an arm's length away from him. She stood quietly while keeping an eye on him. A single paw lifted from the ground and reach forwards to touch that rough branch protruding from his shoulder.

Ryn's mind was whirling. This was close, so so close. He couldn't stand it. But he musn't move, he musn't. He would not give in to this weakness, he would not. He knew that Shizuki was testing him, seeing how far she could push his bubble, until it popped that is. That was what vexed him. He would let her get a little closer, a little. Then she would push for more. He felt her stop in front of him, barely an arms length away. He sensed her weight on the earth shift slightly, raising her paw. He knew what she wanted. And he would let her, in his own way, of course.

He flicked his ears back, and slanted his eyes. A low growl came out of his mouth, and his lips curled slightly. Now she was really pushing it and now he was back on guard. Her paw was almost to his shoulder. The branch that she was reaching for suddenly snaked out and wrapped itself tightly around her paw, faster than Ryn could bat an eyelid.

Her careful eyes were always watching him, always waiting for that sleek icy calm to splinter and crack under her sweet, focused pressure. And there, within a single sharp breath of hers, a dark rumble appeared from the deeps of his chest. It cut through the air and sank right into her very bones. Shizuka's body froze in surprise and a cold fear ran down her spine. However, just as she began to think her veins had run cold with ice, a sudden warmth that ragged as hot as fire started from the deeps of her stomach and burned its way through every fiber of her being. She shuttered.

Suddenly, the branch snapped out and grabbed her paw. It was as though time rolled slowly through her eyes but her body was moving too slowly to do much of anything anyways. The hard texture of the extention tightened around her paw and she winced at the sudden foreign pressure. Her heart began to pound loudly in her chest; however, her expression and body remain chillingly calm and gentle.

Slowly, with the delicacy of a butterfly, she eased her body towards him, her eyes finally turning from his face down towards the brown bark. Quietly and patiently, she moved forwards and suddenly pressed her soft muzzle against the branch and then barely running her tongue over in a sweet, apologetic kiss.

Ryn felt a strange heat move through him as his branch made contact with Shizuki. He broke out of his state and took a long gasp of air. The fire vanished in an instant. He involuntary tightened his grip around her paw, and released suddenly, afraid to touch her, to hurt her. He felt her lean close, so close. He wanted to reach out, but he just couldn't. As he felt her muzzle against his branch, he felt his world spin in darkness. A wave of cold ran the length of his body, the warmth from her tongue was just to much, just to much.

Slowly, and tentitivly, Ryn let the branch move and he whispered in a ragged hoarse voice, "I want to see you." Ever so lightly, the tip of his branch traced Shizuki's face, her jawbone, rim of her eyes, her tapered ears. It then moved down to her wings, which sent a tingle down his spine as he touched the delicate papery texture. He let the branch trail down the contours and edges of the wing.
