It was time once again for the annual Barton snow sculpting competition. With freshly falling but good for packing snow on the ground and sections of a large field marked off things were just about to get underway. At least for those ages two through five anyways, signed up participants as well as last minute entries were being let into the field to pick their space. One adult was allowed to accompany each child but could provide only minimal help in the building process.
Around the field was room for spectators as well as several vendors with carts of hot drinks and various foods. People expected a good turnout and by the size of the crowd already it didn't look like they were going to be disappointed.
~ Gus walked towards a marked of square gleefully, less interested really in building something out of snow than in the bucket of plastic tools he was allowed to keep just for participating. He wasn't sure what half of them were yet but that didn't matter becuase his Rex would tell him.
Following behind the boy Rex just hoped Gus didn't want to take whatever he made home with him later. Then against the boy didn't seem to be showing any particular love for snow in general so it was unlikely. " Are you sure you're not too cold?" It was impossibly to really bundle Gus up properly unless he liked wound some scarves aroudn the boys tail.
Gus shook his head and stepped into a square, little but sharp toe claws digging into the soft snow. " I'm okay," and he had an idea; he would make Miss Apoxi out of the snow. ~
Albin sat on his father's shoulders sipping at a hot chocolate in a Styrofoam cup. It was just them today having special time and as the dark skinned boy flicked his tiny wings he grinned. They were going to watch people build with snow but they were going to stay warm while they did it.
Tal watched children start to stream onto the field and smiled. He would have liked to help Albin with this but their not participating was probably for the best. The white haired seraph knew how much he liked to get involved in projects and he also knew Albin so far seemed to have a very short attention span. At least if they just watched he could tell the boy about different techniques people used and then they could make something together at home.

The snow radiated color as the bright cascades burst over the pure white expanse. They faded away as the flares hit the ice, sizzling softly underfoot, growing softer and softer as four of the spectators wandered away from the performing platypus pyrotechnician. Normally they would have lingered a while longer, but today was special and they had come to the park with a purpose. Among those who wandered away was a father and his three daughters. As he scouted out a spot for them to start building, he allowed the girls to walk around the vicinity, so long as he could keep sight of them.
Given this freedom, the oldest of the trio took lead. She was a rather sweet looking cow girl with large brown eyes and fluffy ears poking out from beneath her winter hat. Behind her followed her sisters, a demon child bundled in soft cream wool with pink trim, towing the final follower of the procession, the siren. Each of them had a bucket and tools in hand, but still tarried by the sides, enjoying the excitement of the event and the presence of other children.
One of the nearby children caught the girl’s attention, as he seemed to be one of participants. Neither the siren or the demon vouched to hail him, leaving that to their older sister, whom they both huddled behind. Once they were close enough, the cow girl raised her hand, smiling warmly from just over the brim of her scarf at the scaled boy, “Hello there!”

Gus looked up from the snow, he'd been trying to picture Miss Apoxi in his mind and how she would look here. there were some special snow dies in his bucket of stuff but he didn't know if they had the right colours for her. His dark eyes examined the trio for a moment before he replied. " Hello, I'm Gus." Just Gus now no more asparagus. The todder waved his dark finned tail in response to the hand of the fluffy eared girl sort of waving at him.

It had been a devil of a time getting Layla to put on pants. Of course, Marcus had been slightly shocked when that tail of hers turned to legs in the first place, but that had worn off quickly once he discovered something else about his new daughter.
Layla was a natural born streaker. After a morning of chasing the giggling ball of energy around the house, he had finally caught her, wrapped her in a blanket, and headed for the shops to buy her some pants.
Then, of course, there was the chasing around the shop to try and put them on, their subsequent banning from that shop, Layla's grouching about how pants chafed, even though he knew they couldn't on the tough skinned little one, and the walk home. Which led them right past the snow sculpting tournament, and gave him the idea of letting Layla wear herself out before they got home so he could watch the game.
He shifted the little girl sitting on his shoulders, tugging her hands away from his eyes yet again as he headed into the competition to look around. When he realized she was the right age for it, he set her down in the snow.

Dec did not particularly fancy snow. Not at all. It wasn't that he hated the season - it was perfectly nice just like all of the others - but winter tended to be a time when Decemberline had very bad memories of his childhood and preferred to stay indoors.
As such, a dear friend of his was taking Verali out to the snow contest. A tall and buxom woman, Lamnishan carried her own little pink haired daughter in her arms as the trio approached the contest. Cookie was curiously mewing and looking about at all of the other children and Verali was doing just about the same - only with less cat noises.
The small blue child ran along the ground, enjoying her little white snow dress as she looked around for other children. Her mustache puffs trailed behind her, bouncing here and there and ended up brushing across the face of one dark haired siren girl with very sharp teeth.
(please note I mean layla here since we have two siren kids with teeth XD)

Upon realizing the boy was friendly, Mimosa and Sasha branched out a bit more from their older sister and waved as well. Being the more outgoing of the younger pair, Sasha even ventured closer, grinning wide as she floated and hovered around him. "V`atcha makin`? Is snowman? Snowlady?" She motioned to the bucket and tools he'd acquired, her tiny dragon claws pointing to them.

"Snow lady," Gus confirmed with a smile. " A big one". He didn't mean that Miss Apoxi was fat but that he wanted to use all the snow he could to make her. " What are you making?" Gus assumed that if the girl was out in the field too she must be making something. Maybe she'd even build next to him and then they could talk. Maybe she could show him how to fly becuase it looked fun. Though the part dragon boy didn't have wings so he'd probbaly need magic.
~ Albin watched those out on the field with interest, he tried to guess who would win and who would lose. It was hard to guess though till they started making something and so instead he just sipped his hot chocolate some more and shifted on his father's shoulders. ~
"Five minutes till build time begins." A voice called out over a microphone. Soon the competition would be underway.

"Fluffff!!" Layla announced, her eyes going wide as she realized what had brushed against her face. Without a thought she chased after the little moustache having girl, her hands out. "Fluff!"
"Hey, Layla, don't--" Marcus cursed as he realized that his daughter seemed to have a fluff obsession. What it was about, he had no clue, he hadn't been watching closely enough.

Verali heard the calling and turned around, blinking and waving. "Hi there!" she told the girl who had shown an interest in her fluff.
"Hey, Ver, we gotta get in the main area, they're starting soon." she pointed out. The blue girl blinked before turning back to smile at Layla, "Come with me! We can talk while we build!"

"Okay!!" Layla said, chasing after the other girl happily. "What we buildin?" she asked curiously, showing just how prepared she was for this situation.
Marcus groaned and followed the little girls, glad he had gotten Layla a coat and some gloves along with her shirt and shoes. He should have gotten her a scarf, he noticed, looking around at the other kids.
Nah, she probably would have lost it within minutes anyway.

Verali thought for a bit. "No idea!" she said with a huuuuuge smile before spotting Gus, Sasha and company. Hey that boy looked familiar and that girl was blue like her! And they seemed to know what they were building!
"Hey hey, let's go help them! They know what they're doing!" she said quickly, pulling Layla's hand towards the other group.
When she was closer, she realized where she'd seen the boy - he was one of the other kids from Mixers that had gone out to play with Apoxi sometimes! "Spare-gus! Spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaraaaaaaaarrrrre-guuuuuuuus." she called, waving her free hand. Verali'd always had a slight issue with the name Apoxi'd given him (she didn't quite know what Asparagus was so she'd thought his name was Spare Gus, as if they'd had a gus before but this was the spare one).
[ooc: yay bringing orp together powers? XD]

What the heck was that girl calling his son spare gus..did she mean asparagus, did she know him from back at that place? Rex was confused but remained silent waiting things out, seeing what would happen before he reacted.
Gus turned his head, wiggled his ears happily then waved at the blue skinned girl with her puffy ended mustache. " Hi, you got picked?" Well of course she had or she wouldn't be here. The question was silly but it has popped out of gus' mouth before he could stop it, he didn't like when that happened. "I'm making Miss Apoxi," he explained dark eyes watching the girl he sort of knew approach as well as another child that looked sort of like the ones he used to see before he went to live with Rex.
Soo many people! Gus was excited to be around others and see would they would make and maybe all of them would win and even if they didn't they'd been giving shovels and buckets and stuff to keep. Really it was a good day.
