The world for once was quiet, peaceful as nights darkness enveloped the plains with a strange sensation of solitude. Above, the tapestry of darkest blues glistened with scattered stars that, if one looked closely, could be mistaken for diamonds who were strewn carelessly about the sky. Or perhaps they truly were fireflies that had become trapped within an endless void of blackest blues and swirling clouds, forever left to illuminate the sky at nightfall. A small chuckle sounded from amongst the shadows although its owner seemed invisible. Was it a disembodied voice? A ghost perhaps? One could certainly think such a thing at first but let it be known that the eyes could be quiet deceiving. For there nestled amongst the tall grass was a young lioness. As black as a moonless night and as radiant as mischievous fireflies it would appear that Kimulimuli had once again found herself entranced by the spectacle of night. Straining her eyes, the young adult furrowed her brows as golden orbs continued to relentlessly stare upwards.
"Mmmm," she sighed, pursing her lips thoughtfully. "I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep because everything is nothing as it seems when I fall asleep. The world seems so dull when one is suppose to be awake but the night- its so elusive."
Yes, the world almost seem to hold its best secrets captive during the day and only relinquish them when the rest of the world had fallen into nights deep slumber. Why was it that the stars had to hide during the day? Wouldn't it be more thrilling to simply have a day where the stars simply didn't have to hide? The thought of having a slumber party with the stars was amusing and all that Kimuli could do was smile as she shook her head.
"If only."
Flicking her tail gently, Kimulimuli arched a brow upwards as a sudden streak all but danced across the sky, shooting through the air and clouds with a fiery trail that quickly dissipated into bleak nothingness. What was that, she thought to herself. For a moment the lioness tilted her head to the side while her muzzle wrinkled with a slight perplexed expression. Was it a shooting star or something else? Whatever it was one would have to believe that it was 'wishable' wasn't it?
Not wanting to waste a perfectly good wish, the lioness closed her eyes tightly and took a deep breath. The cogs of her mind turned and turned before it managed to tumble out a secret wish. At the moment where there was satisfaction in her secret desire, Kimuli finally exhaled a great breath from out of her maw.
Now to wait- perhaps sooner or later her wish would come true.
