Remember the epic Halloweens of Gaia past where we got tons of plot we had to piece together through various NPC chronicles? I thought that with guilds and journals largely neglected these days, these events were a thing of the past. I'm quite happy to say I was wrong. Now where's Johnny?

Not really. They use it as a placeholder for new NPC's all the time. I did a search for "NPC" once and there was a whole page of them.

I'm getting another "eco-awareness" thing from this event, what with Riverwisp apparently being some sort of nature spirit killed by a plane. I really hope not, because Gaia just did that. It's getting a little preachy.

I was looking through Chrono Cross recently, and it was hilarious how they had an "Humans are bad and are ruining the environment" message when the entire game takes place on an island with at the most three human settlements, two of which were small fishing villages.

I don't know what it is but I keep running into badly placed eco friendly messages lately. A few games I've been replaying have done that, as well as various other things.

And yeah, they have a Pac-man ghost.

The pink ghost (William Drink) seems to be an homage too.

Tia and Tamara were the character names from the show Sister Sister, and the ghosts themselves are designed after Fatal Fame II: Crimson Butterfly.

The beekeeper kind of makes me think of Dead Rising, since that had zombie making bees (ZomBEES) but probably not.

Ricky is based off of Jo-Jo the Dog Faced Man, among others who have that condition. Jo-Jo rolled with P.T. Barnum as the "Dog-Faced Man" though, so probably him.

Chauncey = Casper, not a huge stretch.

Flagrante = Liberace. Again, not much there.

Randy Folsom = Village people.

I'm not sure what the others are in reference to, and I'm sure there is stuff about the ones that I overlooked. It's just sort of what I know off the top of my head.

Still kind of funny though

It's definitely an ill-placed message when your entire business depends on people polluting up the planet in their leisure time (I guess it depends on how your electric company makes that electricity, but still.)

I didn't get Chauncy as Casper until that last post, but then, I'm kinda ******** up. I kept waiting for him to realize his parents had been abusive and become the most evil ghost of all.

I never played Fatal Frame, so I was wondering why the sisters were acting so godamned creepy. I used to watch that show when I was a kid. And I forgot about Liberace - I was thinking Elton John.

Amazon Crusher is a mash-up of famous wrestlers (Hulk Hogan, the Rock, maybe Chyna) and Arturo (he has a name now) is still based on Fabio.

I want Edith to start posting. Everyone is orgasming over Riverwisp, but I think Edith has a cooler design.

Edit: Whoa. I just had a total crackpot idea come into my head. Michael Drink is still a placeholder when all of the other ghosts have avatars. Why? For the big reveal. Johnny Gambino was really the son of the Drink enterprise!

Mmm... maybe I'm not so off with Chauncy. Seems like he may develop a Gollum-like split personality.

Edit: Or not. So far, his idea of "revenge" is pantsing people and writing on their walls.

Awww damn... Anyway, gotta have to say that the pacman ghost is spiffy: It gives me back childhood memories when I was playing the game, back in the '80's.
