Santos was meticulous when deciding where to send the groups. With little information to go on, and only his years in the force to guide him, he decided to that the city and neighborhood were the best places to focus efforts. While other areas wouldn't go unchecked, He was fairly certain an attack would be geared toward high population areas.
Wiley, Jacques, and Boston's group was assigned to stay in the city, closer to the mountain range to the east. Extra care should be taken here to avoid the heavier flow of traffic on this side of town. Santos has asked the group to specifically focus on exploring the abandoned warehouses to find if one had been used recently, as they are a prime location for small packs to gather. Quote: You may only post here if you are the owner of: ❥ Wiley ❥ Bosto ❥ Jacques ❥ Arimik ❥ Sweet Pea Things to keep in mind: ❥ This isn't meant to be easy for your dogs. This means you have to help make decisions about what to do and where to go. I'm assuming that by now everyone has gotten introduced to each other and know names.
Wiley shook off the tension that had been building up in him on the way to their destination. Who would want to attack Summerwood? He shook his head sadly. He hoped they'd be able to find the perps and stop the attack from happening. "Alright everyone, we've got to get across the highway in order to access those warehouses." A number of large, dark buildings loomed in the short distance. The Shepherd shuddered slightly. They looked creepy even in broad daylight. "Now, we can make a break for it across the road, but it's extremely risky now that morning traffic has started. I've patrolled this area a lot, and I know of a small tunnel that goes under the highway. It'll take much longer to use, but it is a lot safer." Considering we have civilians with us. Wiley added in his head. He personally had a lot of practice dodging heavy traffic, but he didn't want to get Sweet Pea or Ari injured. And Jacques might not have had that much practice at it yet. The Shepherd looked to the rest of his companions for their opinions.

[Yeah, safe to assume introductions. But Boston's a nicknamer.]
Boston nodded at Wiley. "If you can get us over there in one piece, I can give an assist in the warehouses. That's part of my beat most of the time, but I rarely make it all the way over here- and it's almost always in the traffic lulls." She had utmost faith in the shepherd's ability to herd them safely, but she didn't want to take any chances. Yet. "Cars ain't like stray dogs. Where you can catch a dog by his throat, pin him down, and get his weaknesses from looking at his eyes, cars don't stop." She mulled the concept of the car over in her mind for a big. Humans lost so much of the world by traveling in those things... and then another thought hit her. "And Wiley, if you know there's an access tunnel up ahead, it's probably safe to assume that any dog that lives in the area knows it just as well. I think it'd be smart for all of us to keep our noses to the ground in that tunnel. Something like that would probably be a high traffic area- maybe we could pick up a scent, get a baseline of who's around. Red, Stripes- you smell a fresh trail, give us a shout. That's the kind of thing we need to know."

[yeah, but Ari won't address Boston with her name since she won't call him anything other than Red, stripes]
Ari stayed as close to the officers as he could stand, which was surprisingly close. He'd been to this location a lot in the past, recently he stopped coming here when he temporarily joined a group that took him far to the outskirts of town. Not the same group their looking for though. Ari knew of the dangers of the roads and of the tunnel that they were speaking of. I'll have to stay clear of that tunnel from now on...Its a good thing I haven't been over to the warehouses in months. Ari's attention picked up when Boston talked about how she dealt with strays. One reason I dislike officers they treat every stray alike, even the good ones, as few as there are, get treated like the bad ones. He almost gave him self away when she talked like he knew nothing of the world."Will do, Bossiet(boss-i-et)."He manages to keep out all of the irritation out of his voice even if he keeps the last part quiet and with a little light tone behind it. I am getting tired of that nickname they know what I like to be called yet she keeps calling me red, stripes. Heh, I'll keep calling her Bossiet and see if she gets tired of it. Even if Ari isn't my street name I have to be careful I might just meet some old "friends" I don't think I will, but then again I might. I have kept my part of the deal I wonder if the boss kept his. He ends up smiling when he thinks of the nickname he thought of.

Whoooaaaa.
Sweetpea was every bit the innocent farm dog as she stared with wide eyes at the roaring traffic of the great highway. The farmlands never got this kind of traffic flow, and the result was a slight tinge of fear in her eyes as every car roared past, almost too close for comfort. It was only a pure relief when Wiley told them he'd be taking them another way.
She peered around, stuck her nose to the ground, and took a moment to explore the scents, tugging out strands of aroma that she was discovering to be the pure scent of city. Here, so close to the road, was also the thread of oil, machinery, more advanced than the old scents of the tractors and old pick-ups she was used to, and occasional the biting tang of a used up cigarette. Confident she'd be able to decode most scents from here out, she lifted her head again and smiled at the officers with a look that said she was ready to go wherever they led her.

Jacques was on the larger side of what a pit bull could be. He stood quietly watching the traffic. He was new here alright, but not a new police dog. He was a transfer from another city, when his human moved so did her. Back where he was from dogs never did things like this. They only followed their humans and didn't have much contact with the other dogs in the force. He eyed the other police dogs betting they thought he was completely new to the force he really hadn't taken the time to talk to any of them even the lead police dog. He wasn't one for many words unless it was necessary. The only thing he really had an issues with right now were the civilians being along.
"What are we waiting for then, Wiley? Lead the way and Ill take up the rear." That will have been the first time Jac had spoken since they had started off. His voice was deep yet dry as it seemed he wasn't used to using it.

Wiley nodded at Boston. He hadn't thought of running into other strays in the tunnel. He looked at their group and frowned a bit. Now that Boston has mentioned it, their group could be mistaken for a pack of strays down there. But they had no other option. With this number of dogs (and the fact the two, possibly three of them had no experience in car dodging) it was too dangerous to run across the highway. He took a moment to think, weighing all the risks. It was Jacques' voice, first heard since they had started the investigation, that finally brought the officer back from his thoughts. He smiled. "I like your style, Jac. Let's get moving. Sweet Pea, stay behind me. Boston, Ari, if you two wouldn't mind maybe you could flank her?" Wiley asked, gesturing to the Aussie. "And Jac, like you said, you'll take up the rear. Remember what Boston said, everyone." He gave the Akita a warm nod before continuing, "Ears open and noses to the ground. It's dark in that tunnel, even during the day. We're officially in stray territory now, and not all of them are friendly." The shepherd gave a reassuring smile to the group, though inside his heart was beating faster than a hummingbird's wings. "Let's get this started, shall we?" He pivoted on his paws, leading the way to the tunnel.

"Sure thing, Wiley!" barked the Akita. "Stripes and I are on it. We'll be through the tunnel in ten seconds flat! Unless, of course, we find a reason to stay. Like some dog who can answer questions. Or some dog who needs a little lawbringin', if you know what I mean." She looked back at Jacques, the big brown pit and smiled at him, all friendly-like. "You've got our tails, right, Jacques?" She didn't really know him- none of them really did- but Santos wouldn't have let him in if he wasn't up to the task.

Ari twitched at the thought of being surrounded by police. He stared up ahead to where they were going. His ears droop slightly when she calls him stripes and at the thought of meeting another stray. So far as he could tell out of the merry band of dogs he was the odd one out being the stray. Great, stuck next to my worst nightmare. The information better be worth it. Ari sniffed the air to see if there were other strays about. He couldn't tell, there was too much variety of smells. He sighs it was always his luck to get in to impossible situations. For all I know there might be one of my enemies lurking and watching me play along with the police. They might even attack thinking I'm going to rat them out. Thats the problem with being an informant, too many dogs want you silenced. Always wondering if today is the day they catch on and your life as an informant is cut short. Will today be that day? He looks to the sky searching for the answer that eludes him.
((I'm going to start underlining his thoughts. They are a little hard to see.))

Jacques made a face at how long it seemed to be taking them to walk into a tunnel. There was having cation and then there was wasting time. It was just the beginning and Jac could already tell that the civilians were going to slow them down in decisions and communications.
"That was already stated twice now Boston, but again I'm taking the rear." Jac didn't say it in a mean way but it could easily come off that way. He stood there with a serious look on his face waiting for Wiley to take lead.

Perhaps.... they should have kept a better eye on Sweetpea. She couldn't help it! Maybe she was smart enough to know not to dash across a highway, but a tunnel? Oh man that was entirely safe! As soon as it was within sight she broke the little formation they'd had, a slow moving formation at that, a tore towards the entrance with the excitability of a young pup.
Before entering, she paused to look back at the group. "Well, come on!" She called, enticing them to hurry as she disappeared into the darkness.

Caution, it seems, was unnecessary at this point. The tunnel is clear of the strays that usually litter it at night as they've gone off to meet their needs for the day. While it may not smell particularly nice, it was indeed safe.
On the other side of the tunnel looms one of the many abandoned warehouses in this area. It's windows are dirty and shattered, nature is fighting to reclaim the bricks that were cast from her clay, and any and all entrances seem to be boarded off by rotting wood. Fortunately, humans usually don't think of canines when they board up, so at a couple entrances it's possible to squeeze through to the other side.
This would probably be a good warehouse to start at.

Boston raised an eyebrow at the pit bull. She didn't know how the police force worked where he came from, but implying some sort of incompentence in a fellow officer in front of civilians wasn't how they did things here. "Excuse me for the verbal confirmation and attempt to foster team communication, Officer," she said, the hurt obvious in her voice. She then snapped to attention as they made it through the tunnel sans incident. She wasn't going to let it get to her.
She brightened a bit at the warehouse, clearing her throat and speaking up. "All right, gang. I don't know what you all think, but this seems like it might be a good place to search. Warehouses are hotbeds for pack activity; not only do they have big interiors, but they also frequently have scraps left behind. When humans board these things up, they usually just do exterior points of entry; it's pretty easy to get in, but for a bigger dog, it might be tough. And big dogs are what we're looking for. Often, there's some kind of access door- a loading dock, or a drainage grate that's been pulled aside. It would be smart to look for those... but probably not smart to enter there. If we can find a ground-level entrance, those are less likely to put us in a bad spot if a fight goes down. Also be on the lookout for stuff on the ground; broken glass, old nails and the like. Those can cut you up pretty bad if you're not careful." She paused and thought for a bit. "Oh, and keep your voices down. The fewer dogs hear us, the better."

Wiley, acting on instinct, raced after the Aussie. "Sweet Pea!" He yelled, bounding off into the tunnel. Thankfully, no strays jumped out at them as he chased Sweet Pea. After appearing on the other side, his ears flattened, hackles bristling up under his vest. He snorted and scowled at the young herding dog. "While I appreciate your enthusiasm, Sweet Pea, this is a dangerous area. There could have been criminals in that tunnel waiting to attack! You need to listen to us officers, or you may end up getting hurt." Wiley managed a smile, but the adrenaline of his mad dash was still pumping through him, threatening to blow his annoyance to full blown anger. "Promise that you'll be more careful?" He asked.
Wiley didn't wait for a reply before turning to listen to Boston. Then again, he didn't need one. Sweet Pea was a liability, and if she couldn't be more careful Wiley would personally escort her back to the station himself. The shepherd surveyed the warehouse in front of them. "Boston's right. This seems like a safe hideout for a large gang." He swiveled back to face his group. "As much as I don't like the idea of splitting up, we have a lot of ground to cover, and we need to cover it quickly. Boston and Ari can sneak around the right. Jac, Sweet Pea, and I can take the left. We'll meet at the back of the warehouse." Wiley suggested. "We can use some kind of signal bark to in case we run in to trouble. Unless anyone else has another idea?" The officer asked, looking at his teammates. His eyes lingered on Boston and Ari. They were the most likely to have another solution. Jac didn't seem used to this kind of investigative work, and Sweet Pea...well, Wiley would bet his kibble that she would want to rush straight in. He chuckled inwardly. Not unlike himself when he had first started off in the force.

Sad puppy? Very sad puppy.
Sweetpea looked up at Wiley with her ears flat against her skull and he tail hanging low. Not quote submissive, because despite his training, Sweetpea wasn't afraid of anyone, but more upset that she'd made her new friend angry. Her multicolored eyes blinked in a bit of surprise though. He was mad at her and yet he was still going to group with her?
All was not lost in the plains of friendship!
"If we can't find an entrance," she squeaked, a little excited again, "I'm probably small enough that I could climb in through a window without hurting myself and see if anything is in there!"
