It was Israel's turn to blush as he looked down on the ground, his foot moving in a small circular motion.
"Well, yes... I had a few but... I was not very, interested in them... um... " He then looked up, speaking a bit more louder, as if talking to himself. "I am just focused on my studies, that is all. Just, preoccupied."

James shook his head. "You're lucky, why did you not try and keep them. How can a girl interfere with your studies?" He tilted his head slightly. "No girl has ever taken interest in me, but if one did, I would not push her away just so that I could study more." He looked as if Israel had thrown away a perfectly good cake just because he was full and could not eat it right away.

Israel looked back down at his shoes.
"Um... my studies... I am at the cathedral for most of my time um..."
He then looked up to give James a surprised look, barely catching on to what he had said.
"Wait... what do you mean the girls do not find an interest in you? That is ridiculous."

mellomeghan "Hello, Amy. It's very nice to meet you." Rashime smiled. "You can call me Ras for short if you would like." He said. These were the most words he had ever spoke to a girl in his whole life. He didnt know where he was getting the strenght to talk to them but he didnt want it to leave. "Okay then, Ras it is! So how do you like the ship so far?" Brittany said, she took a few steps toward the trash can and threw her smoothie cup away, since there wasn't as much time left until class.

James shrugged. "We are always moving and When ever we do move it's in the middle of a school year so most of the girls have boyfriends all ready, if not than they just don't like me that much, I had a boy friend once, but only for about a month, that was when we moved to Prince Edward’s Island." He Laughed "That guy was sweet, it's a pity it did not work out." He winked at Israel and sighed. "Can I call you Iz?" He asked, he always had to have nicknames for people otherwise he had trouble remembering their names.

"Um, yes, if you wish." He said, though he would have to get used to having a nickname. The only other name he had been called was his saint's name. He then cocked his head to the side, his hair falling in his green eyes as he tried to ask James about something he just said, wanting to find the exact words.
"What do you mean you had a boy friend?"

James chuckled, "You know, I had a boy friend, but it was not that serious, we were only together for a month, and it did not go that far." He put his feet on the floor and smirked "We just kind of went out together to do stuff." He blushed, "he was really nice, we got along great." Then he scratched the back of his neck and gave a small smile.

Israel's curiosity accelerated... you could tell in his voice. His English was clearer but he spoke in a different tone, like a cracky teenage boy.
"You mean... you used to date another boy?"
Can you DO that?

James nodded. “Yes, that’s it exactly.” He was a little surprised that Iz seemed to not know that boys could date boys, but he tried not to show it. “It was really nice, I mean he was sweet, and it was a lovely July. We had a lit of fun together…” He blushed and scratched the back of his neck, not really knowing what he wanted to know besides that. He shrugged. “But that was like a year ago, so I’m over it.”

Israel frowned, trying to grasp the general concept.
"So... I suppose we can both agree that our worlds are entirely different." He shrugged and smiled at James, wanting to show that he was okay with what was said, but there was a small part of his expression that showed he was having an inner battle with himself and simply decided to put it off until later.

"I guess." He said shrugging. He did not really see what the big difference was, but that was ok. "Care to explain what's so different though?" He grinned and stood, walking past Iz and into the kitchen area. He opened one of the cupboards over the small sink, it was filled with unopened boxes of sweets and microwavable meals. He took out a pack of minty gum and tore it open, sticking a piece in him mouth. He was a gum chewer and it was just part of him. He took out another stick, and offered it to Iz.

Israel waved away the peice of gum with a soft 'no thank you' and watched James. Israel never ate too much sugar.
"Well, where I am from, everyone attends a mass. You do not. Where I am from, we dress ourselfs for attractivness towards our surpieriors. You dress as you wish. Where I am from, men are with women because it is traditional. You are with who you chose."
He looked down at his shoes again and mumbled.
"Canada sounds like a wonderful place..."

James nodded. "That is a big difference. And I do love my country." He shrugged and stuck the already unwrapped piece of gum he would have given to the boy in his mouth so it did not go to waste. "You would like it, but it's not really Bishop friendly, I don't know of any major religious leader who came from there, so if your dream is really to be one, you'd be better off in Spain." He chuckled. "And probably better off not hanging out with me. I could be a bad influence. Grandmother always said I'm going straight to hell." He laughed loudly and set the pack of gum on the counter, leaned back onto it. His grandmother was from The states, and she lived in Kentucky, she was deeply religious and saw James’s whole family as an abomination.

Israel laughed at James comment. He was making the conversation much more comfortable.
"Why do you think I accepted to come on this ship? I want to see more of what I already know..." His eyes looked back up to James, shining brightly. He was exactly what he was looking for, someone who could show him a different life.
