Connor's senses were pounding all over his body. He writhed and shivered under Luka, but not out of a desire for her to stop; just out of desire, period. For someone who wanted to wait until he was recovered, she was doing a poor job of showing it.

Aurora contemplated this. "I'm not sure... This will be harder to keep fair with Curtis here." She turned to him, "I would rather that you stay just beyond the field of view... but i cannot make you leave. We take our hands into our lives tonight. However I can almost certainly guarentee Katra's safety."

Aurora's words hadn't made any sense at all. Taking their lives into their own hands? Curtis just wanted Katra back! Granted, killing Jonas would have been a wonderful bonus, but he still wanted to know what was occurring.
"Just what is going on here?" he asked. His question was directed at the were-cat, but anyone's answer would have been fine.

"Trust," Jonas spat, "Something you wouldn't understand..." He continued to hold onto Kat tightly.

Kat could feel something cold on her fur. She wanted to move away from it and go back to sleep but somethign was wrong. She couldn't move.

Curtis snarled.
"My trust is gained and not merely handed out, vampire. You are asking to receive an expensive for free of charge, and it will not be happening." He stood again, pacing back and forth.

"We are here to see if he is trustworthy. But the test is between him and I, and we have each brought our most valuable posessions to aide us. I give you my solemn vow that no harm shall come to Katra," Aurora told Curtis. "I personally will see to that, if it cost my own life to do so. However, I beg of you to leave us to this."

Jonas glared at the wolf. 'disgusting creatures, if only he would leave them alone, or go away forever!' He thought irratably, and waited for Curtis to leave.

Aurora sounded trustworthy enough, and he could all must smell the sincerity around her. With a resigning sigh, Curtis nodded.
"Alright, I will not interfere," he agreed. "You have my word on that, and it is as trustworthy as you claim yours to be. But I will not leave. I intend to take Katra back as soon as this is over.

Aurora thought about that.
"Alright... so here we go then... My first requirement is that each of us (Jonas and myself,) make a pact to protect, and if necessary care for, that valuable if the worst should befall either of us during this test." She turned once more to Curtis. "And as for you, I require that you must neither interfere with what happens, nor ever speak of what you see here tonight until such time as Jonas and I both release you from that pact. Do you both swear to abide by these vows?"

Jonas nodded and held onto Katra tighter.

Kat heard mumbling and was confused. She still couldn't move but she was glad at least that she was kind of breathing, well enough for a vampire to survive.

"Of course," Curtis answered. He'd lived almost his entire life keeping secrets, and this even mattered little to him besides Katra's unwilling involvement. Curtis managed to sit and finally lay down, but he continued watching.

"Alright, then the task is this," she set down a long thin squiggly maze of a board which spanned the longest breadth of the pit. "Each of us shall cross this bridge whilst holding our most valuable possession. But as you cross you will be blinded, with only the voice of the other to guide you safely across. If you were to fall you would not only lose your own life, but probably also that of your most valuable possesion-- and although one may be suicidal you do not want your loved one to die, no? Jonas, you shall cross first to prove how difficult this task is... and also because it is your trustworthiness and not mine that is at test here."

Jonas nodded, picking Katra up. He hugged her limp fur form tightly as he walked over to the plank of wood. "I'm ready, how shall I be blinded?"

Curtis' fur bristled and stood on-end. Why had he agreed to this?! But Aurora had promised. He resisted the urge to rise and take Katra from her brother, and instead lay still and tensed.

Aurora set her cat down on the ground, where it rolled and nuzzled against her ankle.
"Since I have to blinfold that cannot be cheated... I have this instead..." She walked up to Jonas, and suddenly flashed a brilliant flashlight into both of his eyes.
