Fatal chuckled once again. Not only was the shrine empowering him, but the more they fought (in the sacred/holy place), the more power he gained.
"Let's try something different, now," Fatal said, enjoying their constant defense. He didn't even have to worry about himself at the moment.
"Yhgim Semalf," Fatal hissed, now performing a real spell, "Dleihs aiv ezalb!"
As the men were finished off, two new creatures appeared. They caused the shrine to tremble slightly with their seismic summoning; two black-scaled snakes, each as thick as a human being, each some ten times longer or more, crawled out of the ground outside of the shrine. They were unhindered by the wall of darkness at the entrance, and they approached, eyes red and mouths hissing, fangs showing, slowly, towards Aoi.
The snakes' scales were going to be found invulnerable to fire, and ice wouldn't slow them down much either, since each snake maintained a body temperature of nearly two hundred degrees, internally.
Both snakes carried a powerful venom which would, first, paralyze, and then, if not treated with antidote, kill. The snakes moved slowly and warily, tensed and coiled to strike in a blinding flash, whenever necessary.
Although it might seem of little consequence, Fatal had now left himself wide open to attack, since the snakes had entered through the door, and between him and the snakes stood Aoi and Toushi.

 Toushi's eyes widened when she saw the two snakes as she back away a bit. She then noticed that Fatal was wide open as she quickly turned around and slashed both of her blades at him.

Fatal made no move to dodge or block, only looking at his 'creations' with a sick, sadistic glee, as they advanced on Aoi.

Aoi shot a blast of fire out of her free hand at the snakes, only to see that it didn't work. She wasn't going to back down though, so she held her sword ready for an attack.
Kasai jumped off the roof and ran back inside. "Suki, I have to go help my sister. I'll be right back," she said, then ran right back outside and headed to the shrine.

Toushi held her blades at Fatal's neck. "Call off your snakes or die." She said.
Suki didn't care, she just laid on the bed.

Fatal's glance reflected to Toushi for a moment, but then then he grinned once again and continued to watch the snakes approach Aoi. They were capable of striking faster than anyone could block; they were snakes. That was how they hunted. So a sword might fend one off, but not two, not at the same time.
"Do your worst," Fatal said, not even looking at Toushi, now. Behind his back, one ring in particular on his hand began to faintly glow.

Toushi glared at Fatal as she aimed to slice his head off.
Suki sat up in the bed and howled, calling for her pack. She was lonely and she was worried about the others. She waited to hear their response.

"Something's up at the shrine, and I think my sister is in trouble," Kasai said over her shoulder as she kept running.
Aoi watched the snakes' movements carefully. She had to be ready for the moment they strike.

The two obsidian-colored snakes, each looking as smooth as glass (though much more indestructible) wandered to either side of Aoi, hissing at her from two sides, before striking, lunging at her, fangs extended, venom dripping out. Seeking to kill.
Toushi's blade was aimed true. It collided, connected, and sliced into Fatal.

Aoi decided that she would strike now, so she slashed at the snake to her right as her flames blasted out at the other snake, hopefully to distract it even a little. She aimed a slash down the snake's head.

Toushi kicked Fatal down and quickly went to Aoi, slashing her swords at one of the snakes.
Suki heard the howls of her pack. They didn't like the idea of going there, but they went anyways for Suki's sake.

Unfortunately, the snake never felt pain. While a sword strike would have injured and (with enough strength or with a luckily well-placed blow) possibly killed one snake, something else prevented it from being harmed. The other snake was not distracted by fire, and struck through it, lightning-fast.
Now, for an explanation on rings. You see, Fatal possessed the capability to imbue every ordinary, non-magical ring with a single spell that he knew. So he formed a habit of wearing a ring imbued with the power to summon one of his collected Assist Trophies, the powerful ones, and this ring had already been proven valuable more than once to Fatal.
The summoning spell worked, and the Assist Trophy of Nys, the reincarnation of the Phoenix spirit, appeared in Fatal's hands. It activated.
Nys appeared, trapped and without a will of her own, to use her Assist Power for Fatal and his snakes. "Revival of Valor," Nys said in a monotone, invoking her ability. Suddenly, a warm light engulfed Fatal and both of his snakes. Both were healed by the fiery power of the Phoenix, and given a temporary Regen power as well. So, any injury done to them was healed the instant it was inflicted.
The Assist Trophy disappeared, after it was used, and Fatal then lashed out at Toushi, sending a wave of dark energy flying, surging, towards her.
