There are no such things as coincidence.Valerye waved 'good-bye' to the Dragon Lilies, hoping that maybe they would get along better with her later. "That was a wicked spar!" she exclaimed, picking up her possessions and vaulting over to Jeni and Ichnel. "I can't wait to tell the others about it!" She didn't mention her own want to spar, but knew that she couldn't compete against either of them. "Food and some sleep sound really good right now, what do you say, Jeni?" There is only hitsuzen

Jeni's stomach growled, "Food is definitly an idea." she said as the small group left the house. The city was much quieter than before, and very few elves were walking the streets, and those that were paid little heed to the strangers. Jeni couldn't help but run though the spar in her mind, it was obvious Ichnel had a big advantage, he was bigger than her, and a bit stronger, and if the legends about elves she knew were right, he had at least decades more fighting experience than her. And there was something else, he respected her abilites, not feared them, though many mixed the two up she knew the difference all too well. She suddenly really wanted to know something about the elves, "Umm, Ichnel, how long do most elves live for?"

Luke steps in and takes in the room. "Hm. Cozy." He places a hand on his stomach, which is voicing it's own opinion about things. "If I may be shown where we are to sleep for the night so that I may lighten my burden before we eat." Mentally he takes note of his words. Luke has a habbit of absorbing local dialogue. Once, after a vacation to Mexico, it took him a week to get rid of an adapted spanish accent.

As Ichnel walked along with the two girls, he observed them. They looked just like any elven maid, only their ears were flat. He smirked wryly. He'd wondered if the girls' ears had been cut off at a young age when he first saw them. Ichnel wondered how'd they respond to that. He heard both Jeni and Valerye's stomaches start to complain and chuckled softly.
But Jeni's question suddenly brought him back to the world. Why did she want to know how long elves lived? It was a strange question but Ichnel would answer her. He pulled out two Wolf's Tears* and handed them to the girls.
"We live for as long as we live. The village elder has seen many summers, I believe around 900 or so. Maybe more. But he is very long lived for an elf. Most live till their 800th summer," Ichnel said.
He was confused as to why Jeni would ask this. Didn't the humans have the same life-span?

There are no such things as coincidence."Really?" Valerye asked. "Nine hundred summers... I'd live to see my great-great-great-great-great, well, you get the idea, grandchildren." Nibbling on the Wolf's Tear, Valerye kept pace with the other two. "I don't know if I would hate living that long, or be delighted. No, I think I'd hate it. Stupid dental problems." Smiling at Ichnel, she asked, "If elves are only legends at home, are, or rather, were, humans only myths?" There is only hitsuzen

Jeni was shocked, nine hundred!! "If a human makes it to one hundred it's considered a very good run." she said, "I'm one of the older ones in our group, at eighteen." She found her steps faltering, but focused to keep going, so the legends were true, they did live for hundreds of years.
She heard Valerye's question but said nothing, she was curious about that as well, but decided to let herself calm down from the initial shock of the elven lifespan.
She looked at her hand and realised she had forgotten about the fruit, she took a bite and was again quite shocked, it tasted like chicken, but she did not mind, it was a familiar taste.

The trip in Ichnel's step had nothing to do with clumsiness. E-eighteen!? This young woman, who nearly fought toe-to-toe with him was only eighteen summers old!? Ichnel looked at the girls in a new light.
"By our standards, they are barely out of infancy!" Ichnel thought. He knew his shock showed on his face, so he made his face grow calm. Ichnel was sure his eyes were a rainbow of confusion. ((Ba Dum Shhh))
"Amazing...forgive my rudeness, my dears, but...your lives...they are so short," Ichnel said.
He was silent for a moment.
"Well, if it makes a difference, I myself have seen 197 summers, although I am not an adult by elven standards. We do not reach our majority* until we have seen 200 summers," Ichnel said.
As they continued walking, Ichnel pondered over Valerye's question. They were almost at Lae's house when he broke the uneasy silence.
"To answer your question, Valerye," Ichnel said," Humans are indeed legendary to the elves, but not for the good I am afraid. Lae will be able to tell you more after you have a decent meal and a good night's rest. Ah! Here we are!"
They arrived at Lae's house. The night made it look more like a dark shape with rosy lit windows than a dwelling.
Ichnel wanted dearly to stay with the humans (he was starting to grow attached to Jeni and Valerye) and insure their well-being, but he knew he was not welcome. Lae's father would be furious if he knew the 'Damned Dark Filth' had spent a night under his roof. Ichnel's eyes became a deep blue with golden flecks appearing here and there, conveying his sadness and longing.
((*Majority= Adult-hood Whoo boy...well, my life has gone from hectic to Hellfire. My basement flooded, along with my room. My stuff is now either in the garage or somewhere in the house. And on top of all that, I have about 50 math problems to do and a 3 page compare and contrast essay to do all before Tuesday. If anyone has a gun, sword, knife, other killing impliment, etc. I would most appreciative if you use it on me. Thanks and loves))

No wonder we got such strange looks Jeni thought as they arrived at Lae's house. She could hear the voices of her classmates inside, she finished the Wolves Tear and turned to Ichnel, "One hundred and ninety seven huh, you don't look much older than me." then she did something very unusual for her, she smiled, it was not the cocky half grin she had on when she was in combat, it was a real smile. She noticed his apprehension, and said, "Well I'll see you around, perhaps a rematch at some point?" she then turned a stuck her head round the door. Sure enough she could see everyone. "We're back." she said walking in, he smile now more or less gone.

((I realized I hadn't posted here in a while... so here.))
Terra couldn't help her open stare as they approached Lae's 'house'. It was so beautiful and interesting that Terra longed to be within it and examine the interior. Something inside her tugged and fluttered, leaving her a bit confused. While Lae led the way up the tree's steps, Terra's hand lingered on the wall that was the tree-house's enormous trunk. She traced the bark with her slender fingers as she walked, anxious to be inside. But as her fingers left the wood, the path she had traced suddenly started to bud, leaving a long row of small, light purple-pedaled flowers which bloomed within the moment. Though, since she was thinking so much about getting inside, none of this caught her attention. Finally, when she entered through the presumed door, her eyes combed through the house in awe. A little smile played across her lips as she turned to gaze at all of the odd items lying around. While she'd scrutinized the cozy tree and decided she simply loved it, she turned her attention to Lae, who had planted herself on the floor before them. She seemed to be enjoying the looks on all of their faces. Terra tried to imagine the wonder that was sketched into her features and almost wanted to laugh at herself. When Lae had welcomed them and mentioned food and sleep, Terra realized how much she desired both of those things. The group seemed to agree, and just then Luke spoke up. His words might as well have been in foreign language. She had never heard him speak with such... hm, was elegance really the word? She turned to smile warmly at him. "Wow, Luke, the elven grammer must really be rubbing off on you." she said with a laugh in her voice. Not that she was laughing at him, but rather the fact that she simply found it, not that she would openly admit it, cute.

Luke looks at Terra with a grin. "What can I say? I'm adaptable." This is when he looks her over again, glancing over her bare legs, this time not so silently. "By the way, I rather enjoy what you've done with your wardrobe." He simply grins. I had no idea you were such a fox. Of course, he'd never say this out loud. Yes, he likes girls. Yes, he enjoys admiring the art that is the female body. This is all true, but he is a bit of a gentleman (fortunately for him. Otherwise he would have been slapped too many times to count).

Jeni was not surprised that no one had noticed her entrance, it had been quitre subtle by her standards. She heard what luke had said and shook her head before walking up to him, "Good thing you said that to Terra and not me, who knows what I've have done about that kind of comment." she gave a little smirk to show she was only half serious, in reality she'd have only threatened him, not actually injured him.

Terra turned her head as Jeni's voice rang out with distaste, only to see Jeni and Valerye standing at the door. She hadn't heard her enter, but she smiled brightly with releif, her face still a bit pink from what Luke had said. For a while she'd gotten used to the revealing outfit, and even forgotten about it. But not anymore. His grin was contagious, but her face had flushed a bright red from embarassment. "I could say the same..." she said quietly. She'd laughed it off quickly, still gazing at him. It was then that Jeni had restablished herself as present. Anxious to not show how his comment had affected her, Terra turned her attention to Jeni. "Jeni! Where were you? What did Ichnel have to say to you?" She asked, truly curious.

"We had a little spar, which I umm, lost." she paused, "Once we did that we came here and chatted as we walked. I cave him a shock when I said I was eighteen, since it seems our legends about elves lifespans are true, they live for hundreds of years, and we also found out they have legends about humans, though they're not exactly good publicity from what I could tell. And that about sums it up, unless something happened to you Valerye." she turned and caught sight of her face in a mirror, she focused on the part of her head which had collided with Ichnel, "That's gonna be a big bruise tomorrow." she moaned quietly.

The comment about the human legends makes Luke laugh a bit. "Well, if you think about it, they're probably true." He leans back against the wall next to the stairway of the cozy room. "Think about it. The ability to share the world has never really been human kind's defining trait." Seeing as how no one is jumping to show them to the sleeping areas, he decides to get comfy now. After unbuttoning and removing his doublet, he slips his shirt off. He then puts the doublet back on, wearing it as an open vest. Haylin still wears his cape draped over her shoulders so he doesn't need to worry about it for now. This is when Luke notices something...he's always had a slender, somewhat muscular build, but now his muscles are much more toned. It's as if he'd been working out for a year straight. He grins and shakes it off before draping his shirt over his left arm. Hey, she said 'Make yourself at home.'

Marael nodded to herself as she looked around Lae's house. It was very different from Wisitaian houses, and had a completely different type of beauty. She gave a sigh, feeling slightly homesick for her own house at the edge of the lake. She turned away from her contemplations as Jeni walked in, chatting with Valerye and Luke about what Ichnel had said.
When she mentioned their discussion about age, Marael gave Jeni, Luke and Valerye a surprised look.
"Eighteen?" She looked between the three humans and shook her head, a slow smile spreading across her face. "You're only eighteen?!" She made a small surprised noise. She remembered tales of humans living tremendously short lives, but she assumed they were exaggerated.
"Interesting." She murmured, looking around at the humans.
