Kazemuki atrixa Is posting on a spam topic to say you've reported it ok? I usually tell them to move to chatterbox and that i've reported them, so people don't waste time reporting it again... Again, it's a slippery slope--some mods will warn you for posting in a thread and reporting it as well, others won't... You can get heat for that? Zoinks. I've usually reported a thread then posted that I've reported.

Eh, I swear, every time I've done that, Pandora Box has nailed me for it. She's got to a vendetta against me or something...

Atropos Kay Actually, you're not supposed to post in spam threads at ALL, because that contributes to the spam. I know of a few mods who get really a**l about that, and they should. Not only does it not solve the problem (and really, what does yelling at a n00b do?), it creates MORE spam as your post does not go along with ED guidelines and is certainly not a discussion, it bumps up the spam guaranteeing it'll get more attention, and it encourages spammers because they're only looking to get a rise out of people for a laugh. It is preferred that you and other just report threads instead. It seems that hardly anyone does that anymore. Is it okay for us to reply to newbs (not noobs) who put something in the wrong forum, or something, and tell them what they did wrong to help them for next time?

_PsychoPathic-Tend3ncies_ Is it okay for us to reply to newbs (not noobs) who put something in the wrong forum, or something, and tell them what they did wrong to help them for next time? Excellent question1 I'm honestly glad that you asked. ^_^ Yes, such is one of this guild's main founding principles. (1) Redirect newbs to the proper forum, (2) report spam and troll threads promptly, and (3) do not contribute to the amount of spam in a thread (This includes number one as well. If someone has already made it clear that a topic was posted in the wrong forum, report it requesting it to be moved and refrain from posting.).

Does the number of people that report something matter? Or is it just reported or not reported?

As far as I am aware, reporting a thread just puts it in a queue that the mods work through in order of date reported. I may be wrong, but that is, to my knowledge, how it works.

Nowadays, I report and then post in the thread to tell them they put it in the wrong forum(and where it should go, though that's in cases where someone just didn't know better). Now if it's just a troll, I tell them to take it to the Chatterbox.
