"Sha la la la Peach! Sha la la la Pear!" Adamaris was singing happily, as usual. It was about mid-day, and she was standing in front of one of the larger ovens in the royal kitchens, her hair pulled back except for the stray pieces stuck to her face by sweat. She was working feverishly, preparing the desserts for dinner that night. She was in an especially good mood, so she had planned something very extravagant. A scale model of the gryphon stables in dark chocolate, complete with several of the actual gryphon's in white, raspberry, milk, blueberry and amber chocolate. Adamaris reached for another pot and squealed as a pair of hands covered her eyes.
"Asvel!!!! Uncover my eyes this instant!!! I am TRYING to make a masterpiece here!!!!!!!!!"

Asvel laughed, doing as the sprightly, tiny girl said. And indeed was she tiny. Asvel was not all that tall himself, barely hitting 5'9", and Adamaris barely came up to his collarbone. He was always afraid she was going to blow away in a strong gust of wind one day.
"You ALWAYS say you are making a masterpiece, Addy. What is it this time??" He bent over, his eyes sparkling as he listened to the girl explain her latest inspiration.

Axelle sighed, stretching softly. She had been living the castle for quite some time now, and she still had not spoken.....Nor could she make anything yet either. She looked down at the mess of crushed flowers and sloppy glass globes in front of her sadly, sniffing. The image in front of her eyes wavered, and she scrubbed furiously at the forming tears, turning to walk away from yet another failure.

The knight looked around at empty hallways of the castle and a small happy sigh escaped his lips. There was no one around today, and he had given his subordinates a day off for the time being. The world was safe and he didn't see why there would need to be training every day of the week. And during this season of all things.

A soft sigh escaped Junsu's lips as he walked down the hallway, the leather of his boots clacking against the stone tiles. He needed to go see the healers today, there was that one gash on his side from a freak accident when training Umbriel, his mount. He winced slightly, the moisture in the air did that to the wound sometimes, made it throb when he thought it was all right. He sighed. Such was life when one was the commander of the Dragon Knights.

The leader of Thracia was furious. How could his own adviser do this to him? His pride was on the line for crying out loud. He sighed as he awaited his fate to be sealed to some commoner. His thoughts were full of anger and hate at the moment. He hated how he was ruled sometimes. But if this was 'for the good of the country' then so be it. Why did it have to be him who had to go through this? It was just insane.

"Great... now I'm hungry..." He muttered to himself, sneaking into the kitchens in hopes of finding something to eat.

The Mage Knight's nose was buried once again in a book within the library. Though he should be outside, he had let his unit go free for the day. The text of the book was small, so his face was a mere few inches away from the pages of the book. The archaic runes of the books fascinated him as much as magic itself. This was the life for him, a life filled with magic and one where he wasn't judged because of his origins.

The Pegasus Knight sighed and put her armor aside. It was another day of gruesome training, or rather, another morning of gruesome training. Selphina sure as hell liked to make sure that all her knights were in perfect condition at all times. Saryelea sighed again and shuffled out of her room with a book in hand in hopes of finding a shady tree to read under until she was called for again. It was rumored that there was to be another excursion for Gryphons coming up soon, and that probably meant that she was going to be there much to her excitement. The thought of going back to the desert brought her a sense of calm and happiness that the stone walls of the palace couldn't.

Asvel swiveled around as he heard the door to the kitchens open, and his eyes widened slightly.
"Majesty!! May I be permitted to ask what you are doing down here??" He bowed low before straightening, making his way over to Prince Yunho's side.

As all those around her bowed low to the crown prince, Adamaris stayed standing, so deeply absorbed in the gryphon she was carving that she had lost track of her surroundings. She hummed softly, using a delicate tool to carve out the feathers on the creature's wings. She wiped at her sweaty brow with a chocolate covered hand, leaving a smear down the side of her face, unnoticed.

Axelle made her way outside, to sit in one of the larger palace gardens. It had brought her some semblance of peace, in the past few weeks that she had been in the palace, and lord knew she needed it now. She made her way to the most secluded bench she could find, and after a furtive glance around lay down on it. She stretched out fully, her arms above her head as she took a deep breath, breathing in the smells of the gardens around her. She felt the urge to cry slowly fade to the background, and the tension in her muscles began to melt.

"Ahh... you all can stand up..." Yunho said waving his hands upwards. "There's no need for you all to be so formal when your prince is hungry enough to try and steal from the kitchens himself." He joked before walking over to the large chocolate gryphon that Adamaris was carving at. "Hmm... interesting sculpture you've got there..." He muttered hovering over it, tempted to break off a part of the stable and eat it before dinner but thought otherwise. "Ah... I'm just going to steal this then..." He muttered grabbing a small pie off the cooling rack. "See you guys at dinner!" He called out waving to the servants. .

He hated the gardens. That was for sure, however, thanks to his temper, he was forced to work in the blasted gardens for the time being. "Damned flowers..." He muttered yanking out weeds from in between the bushes. He had long discarded his shirt, the humidity did not help the sweat problem as he worked. "Damned weeds..." The dragon knight cursed pulling out more weeds from the greenery and tossing them to the side with a fury that was unrivaled in this world. "Damned... GARDENS..." He hissed, his temper flaring and threatening to burn the whole patch of weeds, bush, hell the whole garden down.

Adamaris came out of her trance long enough to notice the pie she had made for her old master's birthday was gone. Her eyes flicked around quickly and settled on the man walking away, her pie held firmly in his hands. She set her gryphon down, turning around slowly, her hands on her hips as she glared at the man.
"Hey!!! You!!! That is MY pie!!!!" She barely blinked when the whole kitchen hushed.

Asvel groaned. Just like Adamaris to get herself into trouble this way......
"Adamaris!!! That is the crown prince!!!"

Adamaris's eyes flicked to Asvel. "He could be the emperor for all I care!!! I made that pie for Canto's birthday." Her eyebrows were frowning slightly, not out of anger, but distress.

Axelle gave a small squeak as a clump of weeds landed on her belly. She sat up, brushing the plant off of her, puzzled. It was then that she could hear muttering, and she got up to investigate. She crept slowly around the bushes that hid her bench and went stone still, her eyes widening. There was a man there, kneeling on the ground, his shirt in a heap behind him. She bit her lip, going to slowly back away, but curse her luck!!! She tripped over a stone, falling flat on her butt.

Yunho turned around, a puzzled look on his face. "... Your pie? I didn't see a name on it..." The prince feigned innocence and stared at Adamaris. He debated on whether or not to continue with the pie in his hand and just ignore her or just to give it back seeing as how she was so distraught at him. "And... you can bake another one." He finally said shrugging and walking off again towards the palace, deciding with the more evil part of his conscience and going with what he stomach wanted more than his head.

Albel whirled around, his eyes ablaze and his sword drawn, his mind completely in battle mode. "Who's there?!" He growled looking around only to find the girl sitting there. "... Oh. It's just you." He muttered, thinking that she was another one of the caretakers of the garden here to aggravate him about his work. "I'm getting to it. I'm getting to it..." He grumbled sheathing his sword and getting back to pulling out weeds with much cursing under his breath.

Adamaris watched the prince walk away, dumbstruck. She stood that way for about 4 seconds before she sighed, turning back around to gently move her chocolate piece to the side. She shifted about the kitchen, gathering pots and bowls and utensils, and ingredients as well. "...Now it is going to be late...." She set about making another pie, much quieter than before.

Asvel sighed, glancing at the now silent Adamaris once before running out after Prince Yunho. "You know, it might just be me, but angering the second-in-command chef, especially the one who makes desserts, REALLY does not seem like a good idea to me....."

Axelle felt the corner of her mouth twitch as she stood up, dusting off the back of her dress before approaching the man. She kneeled timidly beside him, reaching out to begin to pull weeds as well. From the way he was grumbling, she figured he really did not want to be there longer than he had to.

Junsu sighed and sat down at the healers. It was another routine check up, but he hated it none the less. The fact that his mount would rear and attack him, his trusted rider was beyond him. It was slightly unnerving whenever they came close to him with those ointments and creams. It always made him wonder if the gash by his side would ever heal with the amount of stinging that half of the potions created whenever applied. Sighing, he grit his teeth and bore with it until the check up was over.

Yunho paused, the pie half way into his mouth and looked at Asvel. "Wait... SHE'S the second-in-command chef?!" he squeaked in disbelief. "That short girl there?!" He nearly choked on his own spit, realizing that angering her, probably meant miserable meals for the rest of his life. "... Tell her she can have this back." He muttered, shoving the uneaten pie into the Gryphon Rider's hands. "I'm... suddenly not hungry..."

"Damned flowers...." He muttered. "Why do they have to be taken care of? Useless little buggers..." He muttered pulling out the weeds in fistfuls and cursed when the nearby rosebush decided to take revenge on his curses and scratched him quite well on the arm. "YOU DAMNED FLOWERS WHY THE HELL DO YOU DO THIS TO ME?!" He shouted, his arm flaming and threatening to burn the bush down.

Asvel chuckled, shoving it right back. "Too late sire. She already started a new one. You would probably insult her worse now by returning this one." He spoke from experience. If there was one thing that got Adamaris angry, it was when people refused her cooking.....

Axelle let out a silent gasp, leaping and grabbing his arm, disregarding the flames that licked her skin as she dragged his arm away from the rose bush. She couldn't let him burn it! Roses were......had been......her mother's favorite. She held on tight, gritting her teeth against the searing pain in her hands.

"Ah... in that case I'm hungry again." Yunho said shrugging and taking the pie back, taking a bite and relishing in the delicious flavor that exploded in his mouth.. "Ah... yes... so... I hear your unit will be moving out soon for purchasing new mounts?" He said, trying to start a different conversation with the knight. "...I take it as you've got everything packed and ready for the excursion to the desert?"

"Hey! Let me go!" He shouted wrenching his arm from her grasp. "... You gardeners are so sentimental to your plants..." He complained, allowing the flames to disappear from his arm. Sighing he grabbed the pile of weeds that he had pulled out and decided to burn them instead. "... I swear... Lord Junsu couldn't have been more humiliating..." he grumbled, wiping the sweat from his brow and letting out a string of curses.

Asvel sighed, rubbing the back of his neck and nodding. "Yeah. I am all ready to go...Really don't want to though...." It was true. Though he loved gryphons, and gladly looked forward to buying more of the beautiful creatures, he did not like that he bought them to be fighting machines...

Adamaris worked swiftly, finishing the pie and popping it into the oven before turning back to the chocolate scuplture. She was still pouting a bit, muttering under her breath. "Stupid Prince Yunho...." Her eyes sparkled as an evil idea filled her head. Quickly she carved a pile of gryphon dung in one of the stalls, and skillfully labeled it "Yunho", in such a manner that it would be very difficult for anyone else to concern.

Axelle rocked back on her heels, holding back a hiss of pain. Her hands were both red and raw, and nasty blisters were forming on the palm of her right hand, the one that had been gripping his arm harder. She glared at the man, picking up a clod of dirt and flinging it at his head. He deserved it.

"... I can understand where you're coming from." Yunho reassured patting the knight on his back. "It's not exactly my idea of how to train them myself... but you know... there's really nothing we can really do. The other armies out there have other weapons that we just can't compete with... we have to make do with what we have." Yunho murmured, a soft sigh escaped his lips. "... I only wish this peace would last..."

"... Now why would you go and do something like that?" He hissed twitching when the ball of dirt hit the side of his head. The knight slowly turned towards Axelle. "That's not exactly very nice now was it?" He asked, his face slowly turning into a malicious sort of evil twisted into sweetness. "... Do... you know who I am?" Albel asked raising an eyebrow. "And... for the record... are you even a gardener?"

Asvel flicked his eyes to look at Prince Yunho. He was a close advisor, and friend, of the Prince, and one of the few who saw this rare side of him. He gave a soft, hollow chuckle at the princes words, muttering softly under his breath. "Peace. What peace??" He was astounded the Prince did not know of some of the upsets happening within his own castle. His older brother, for instance.......

Axelle glared at the man, still angry. She shook her head no to both of his questions, and then picked up another ball of dirt, tossing it up and down in her hand. It was no idle threat.
PostPosted: Tue Feb 26, 2008 12:30 pm

"Oh come on Asvel, you know what kind of peace I'm talking about... you know... the kind that comes in fairy tales. The ones that are nicely packaged with a 'happily ever after' in them." He joked. He knew full well the danger that his kingdom was teetering on. It would only be a matter of time before they were at another war. "Wonder why we can't all just be friends..." The prince complained. "... I wonder why we have to live through what I had to see..."

"... And you really think that that's going to keep me away?" He asked with a slight chuckle. "... Why don't you go and run off to the healers?" the knight suggested. "And tell them that you were smart enough to get in the way of Albel Nox eh?"

The Pegasus knight sighed slightly and sank down under a tree with great heave. Every single muscle was starting to ache and she wanted nothing better than to just sit down, relax and read; something that she hadn't been able to do for so long, and with the excursion to the desert coming soon, it seemed as though this would be her last time for a while.
