"Yes, I just have a couple questions," she said, going with what he suggested and trying to recall anything else he'd envisioned before so that she wasn't just leaving him wondering why she was asking about the cubs, but the only other things she could think of easily was the visions about her and her brothers, and those had been when he was little. Mtima smiled at him.
"I was just thinking about what you said last time I saw you," she said, "I guess I decided to look into it, the one with the cubs. Do you remember where it was? What kind of area they were in?"

This was getting confusing for the poor boy, he couldn't think of any reasons she might want to know about his visions for. He blinked and tilted his head, especially concerned when she mentioned the one with the cubs. Why would she worry about that? They'd written it off as a vision of the future. He tilted his head.
"Why are you asking about that?" he asked curiously, "I- I don't know-"

"I may have figured out who they are," she answered bluntly, but quickly decided that for this one occasion she was going to have to lie to her son so as not to disrupt his life until she was absolutely sure- and she definitely didn't want to make things harder for him and Intombi, as this most certainly would, "It's nothing to worry yourself about, just some family I never realized we might have. Should have kept a better eye on my brothers, perhaps?"
It was a weak lie, but he could believe it, could he not? After all, Wahabu knew about her brothers, and they it was possible for them to have had a line of their own. It was better to say that than leave it open for her son to imagine she had other cubs, or wonder if he might.

"Really? Who!" he asked, much keener now that her understood what she was getting at on some level. The idea of her brothers having cubs out there somewhere was odd but possible in his mind, he'd seen them in visions- and now that he'd seen his own cubs he realized it would be possible to get traits outside of just your parents. Why, Kimbizi resembled neither him nor Intombi, he supposedly looked like Intombi's mother.
"You want to find them? I- I don't know if I remember," he mumbled, trying to think back to it. He closed his eyes and tried to remember, tried to think back without pushing too hard- even tried summoning up the image again. Slowly it started looking like he'd fallen asleep, at least like he was about to fall forward. He didn't get the vision he wanted, the only thing about it that even resembled it was that there was the yellow girl in it. This time, though, there was a brown girl with her. Brown and white, ironically believable as a descendant of his mother's brother. They were playing in what looked like a very muddy water hole..

Mtima watched Wahabu anxiously as he tried to remember what he'd seen in his vision, glad to have found something reasonable to ask him so that he wouldn't realize it was about him. She felt bad, but in the end she would explain everything to him- hopefully it would be OK then! When he suddenly looked like he was going to fall over, she immediately moved forward to catch him if need be.
"Habu?" she asked, never having seen a vision happen after the one's Kilango had before running off- and that had been very different before. It didn't take her long to realize that he was way out of it, though. Part of her wondered if something was wrong, but another part figured it must be a vision.
"Habu, what do you see?"

Habu just about did fall over, but his eyes blinked open just in time to hear his mother ask what he saw. For a moment, he just blinked and then shook to get away the odd feeling that often came with visions like that. He couldn't say it happened often, being able to call up a vision when needed- of course, that wasn't even the one he'd wanted, so could he really claim responsibility for it? No, it was more like when he'd met Trig and Kinari and they'd stressed him into seeing those visions all over again.
"I saw the girl again, but this time with a different cub, a brown and black one," he described, with a nod, "They looked like they were playing near water, but it was much dimmer and muddier than around here. What kinds of places could that be?"

Brown and black made a lot of sense, if Amadet had been telling the truth about this. Mtima nodded, trying to contain her anxiety about this. There were at least three cubs out there that needed her to find them, it seemed. She didn't want to imagine if there would be more than that, Amadet had not mentioned a number but three sounded average.
"Muddy water?" she repeated, "Sounds like a marsh, or a swamp."
Hmm, where might she find those around here? She'd not traveled too extensively, but she quickly thought of where she might go, where she could investigate next. Smiling at Habu, she nudged him with a paw.
"That's very helpful, I should be going," she said with a touch of sadness to her voice, "And you should be getting back to your family, I'm sorry to have taken you away from them."

"A swamp?" he repeated after his mother curiously, his knowledge of the world outside of the Pridelands very limited so he only nodded and too her word for it. He was glad to hear he was helpful, and pawed back at her when nudged.
"I'm glad, and it's OK, I was out for a walk anyway," he assured her, then continued on curiously, "Why are you looking for them, anyway? Can I help anymore?"

"I'm sure I'll explain everything next time I come to visit," she said reassuringly, though she backed a bit so it was clear she intended to leave now, "I'm sorry but I have to hurry along. I will most definitely drop by again to meet all eight of your children, I wouldn't miss seeing them for anything- you know that."
Mtima smiled at her son, taking another step back and preparing to go.

"If you're sure," he mumbled, taking a step forward for every step she took back, "You know where to find me, where to find us!" He said the 'us' with a happy emphasis, she would always know where to find her family and he was actually quite happy to have it. Busy as his life was, he could still appreciate it- especially when he was able to take a step back to think about it that way.
"Bye, then," he sighed.

Mtima beamed at him, nodding at knowing where to find them all. Even if she didn't find them there, she imagined the little den wouldn't last too long with eight growing cubs, she would be able to find him. She would always be able to find her son, but now she had to go and find his cubs.
"Goodbye," she said, then she turned around and took off in the direction she hoped would take her where she needed to be. And then she would be back to explain everything, if everything went easily- and Mtima rather doubted it would. Habu was left behind to head back home on his own.
Fin.
