Your husband probably had it all worked out for you. (I'm just guessing) If I want to get up there, I'm pretty much going to have to do it by myself. I don't mind, I'm used to taking care of.. well, pretty much everything. I just don't know what to do. I've had no direction at all and almost everyone I've talked to is completely unwilling to help, no matter how nice I am on the phone. The first time I even drove an hour and a half to the nearest base because thats what my husband told me. And they told me the same thing in person as they do on the phone.
I want to get up there so when he gets back from deployment he doesn't have to deal with finding a house, moving, packing and unpacking. All that stuff. I kinda just wanted it to be set up for him so he can at least kind of feel like he's at home when he gets back and not have to worry about anything...

Unfortunately, we are basically worthless to the army, or so they feel, so our husband have to do everything. I wouldn't suggest moving yourself, you could end up having issues with BAH and what the military is willing to pay you guys.

I know. That part of the Army just sucks. Its really getting to me. I just wish he would hurry and and find something, anything, so I can get up there. But its just looking like its not going to happen.
BUT! We are around 150 on base housing! Jumped a hundred! Thats kind of exciting. So maybe something will work out with that?

Aww, that sucks. The places we were looking at are month by month so when we did get on base we wouldn't have to worry about a lease.

Well, I'm not going to get to go since he deploys in about a week and still there is no house or anything.
I don't know what I'm going to do now...
I didn't go back to university this semester because I thought I'd be in AK by now and would be able to start AUF next semester. I also quit my job because I was told that 100% without a doubt I'd be able to go to Alaska. So I guess I'm going to get a job and then go back to university next semester. But there is the issue of base housing. Since it only took us a couple months to jump 100 spots it may only take a couple months to jump 150 spots. So I don't know if I should go back to school and wait for information about the housing and finish out next semester. If I do go, what if our number comes up and I cant go because I'm in school. Blah Blah Blah, this just sucks.
Also my husband got told by his superiors that he couldn't move me up without a having a house. Although I told him I thought this was wrong, I didn't want to start a huge argument, because hey, that IS his superior. Well, it turns out that said superior was wrong. What actually was supposed to happen was that they were supposed to move me up regardless of our housing situation and set me up in a hotel until a house was found, all paid for by them. About a week ago hubby dearest asked another superior and he said that they could have, but now its too late..
So, not only am I not going to move to Aklaska(well, until he gets back from deployment) I don't get to see him before he leaves... I'm sooooo not happy.
Sorry for the mega wall of text.

Yesh, I was kinda wondering about that, because we stayed in a hotel for about 17 days when we got up here, you are cleared for 20. You could try going back to your old job and explaining it to them. Maybe they will give you your job back. Not gonna lie, you might be lucky since you don't have to drive him there then leave him when he deploys, I so don't want to have to be the one who walks away. As for the university, I don't know, I would wait til decemberish and see where you are on the list maybe? I've been waiting to go back to college for over a year now.

Ok, I asked Tony, he says you can still move up here during the deployment, you just have to do all the paperwork with the military yourself.

And thats not something I would really want to do. I'd look at the paperwork and realize that I don't know what any of the abbreviations mean and then get super pissed at him for not having it done. lol.
I'm thinking of just hopping on a flight tomorrow and going to see him. Its last minute and short notice, but we've been married for three months and of those three months I've seen him about two weeks to eighteen days.

Well, we're not sure. Everything just kind of ended up working out for us really nicely. We're in housing on post. That happened by some crazy fluke. I don't even know how. So I'm not real sure how long I'll be here. I'm going to jump on a HOPS soon and go home to take care of some things and then I'll be back.
I'm so glad that everything worked out so well. I was just coming up to see him for a week before he left and we ended up getting a house! Its good luck, I guess.
Anyways, we're off to go get some stuff for the house. When I get back for good we should hang out, do something so we don't get cabin fever and die.
