"Particularly not dragon children." Kayen commented as she wandered away shortly to grab the papers and return to have him sign them. "You may take Layla home then. She just needs to come back at least once per stage for observation."

He nodded and headed for the tank, reaching in-- "Okay, I'll just--" the slippery little devil slipped between his hands, grinning up at him evilly. He reached in again, almost catching her, only to get splashed right in the face by her tail. "You might--"
A high pitched giggle as his hand brushed her stomach told him she was ticklish. "Remind me," he said, trying to grab the girl again without hurting her.
By this time he was soaked to the skin.

Kayen nodded a bit and set down the bundle of papers to walk over and help him pick the child up. "I'll hold her for a few moments while you sign." he informed him. "You need not worry about keeping her constantly in water or sleeping in a bathtub. Just make sure she's had a good soak at least once a week."

"Alright," he said. "But she could sleep in a tank if she wanted, right?" He was only half paying attention to this as he pulled his hands out of the tank.
A tiny, but powerful breeze swirled around him for a second, drying him off enough that he could sign the paper work, which he did. He didn't seem to mind how hard the little girl was to handle.
Layla, evil little brat that she was, wrapped her arms around Kayen's shoulders, grinning with dangerously sharp teeth over at Marcus.

"She can, though I wouldn't recommend it after the trouble you were having retrieving her from this one." the pink haired woman pointed out. lightly patting the small one's head. However, as she did, she noticed a set of horns under all of the hair. "Hm. Miss Blighto did not mark these off."

"'orns!' Layla said, trying to avoid the patting. They were rather sensitive at the moment, since they were a bit new and still growing. At least, sensitive to her. She was extremely tough for such a little thing.
Her hands went up, fingering the horns. She seemed quite proud of them.
"She's got horns?" Marcus asked as he finished skimming through the paperwork to make sure he had signed everything.

"Alright," he said. "Those wings and the horns, I'm assuming she's part dragon?" he added, not sounding bothered by that. It was strange how laid back the dragon hunter was about adopting a part dragon baby. "Western, right?"

"I said so previously." Kayen agreed with a nod, "And yes. Her father is Ahazijaar, otherwise called Hazij. You may have heard of him once or twice, or met him. He did complain when I mentioned your name as one on the list."

A look of pure relish crossed Marcus's face, complete with a cat and canary grin. "And me getting his precious little girl's just going to make him even more irritated, isn't it?" He didn't explain the connection he had with the dragon in question, but he did seem to know of him. And he looked as if he enjoyed pissing him off, too.
He held out the paperwork for Kayen to take and held out his arms to Layla, who was watching him with a mix of curiosity and hesitation. Something inside of her wasn't sure she should trust this man, not when he smiled like that...
The smile changed, softening. "Come on, baby, let's get you home," he said in a raspy, soft and coaxing voice. Those were the words she had always wanted to hear, and without a thought she gave into the voice, holding out her arms for him to take her from Kayen. He did, hugging her gently against his rock hard chest and kissing her temple.

Kayen just showed them out, not stating that actually Hazij had been all but begging Marcus be given one of his kids, just to have to deal with the holy terror of it. She nodded politely and went to file away the paperwork. Some things he need not know.
