Morgan opened her eyes, then bolted up, staring back and forth. The statues… were MOVING.

How hard had she hit her head? She felt automatically for a bump under her brown hair, but found none. Her glasses had been knocked off when she fainted, but she could make out blurry, moving figures all around her.

Had… had someone come in while she was unconscious, and was now stealing the statues?! Morgan felt her blood boil. This was her art (well, the museum’s, but still)! No one would steal it under her watch and get away without at least a black eye! She grabbed the nearest hoodlum.

“Hey! Moron! Where’s the art?!”

She immediately regretted it.

The person she had grabbed wasn’t a person at all, but some sort of monster! It had grey skin, cattish eyes, and long, sharp… Morgan gulped. Talons. She let him go immediately and took a step back before her brain registered what he looked like.

A gargoyle. The Gargoyle of Avon!

Fury coursed through her. She didn’t know or care how he was moving. This was all obviously a prank of some sort, a very cruel prank. Morgan wondered if maybe one of the bigwigs was behind it, but dismissed the notion. They only cared about money, not jokes… or the art itself, for that matter. They wouldn’t do this… but who?

Morgan cleared her throat imperiously. “OK, look, whoever it is that’s doing this, this isn’t funny, so please make the statues move back to where they belong and in their proper poses or else I’ll find you and stuff whatever fancy wires you’re using down your throat. Do I make myself clear?”

She looked at the gargoyle before her defiantly. “It’s not safe to move such priceless art around so callously.”

Raizou stretched out of his slumber, feeling the rock surrounding him flake of and fall to the ground. In his right hand he felt the warm touch of Riina, still partially encased in stone. His eyes glowed a sapphire as he opened them and looked about at his friends. He allowed his dark bat wings to spread and his pike like tail whip about him. The horns on his head glistened as he shifted around in the dim light.

He could remember only diving from his position above the battle to defend Riina, at the base of his tree. Something must have happened to him midflight, because after that glimpse, all was black; except Riina's presents as well as a few others.

He looked down at his person, surprised to see he was still wearing only his dark leather breeches. Strapped on his back was a long, silver bow and an almost empty quiver that held silver shafted, rune covered arrows. He had crafted these artifacts himself specifically for the purpose of attacking from his perch above the enemy.

"Well," he pouted. "Had to be encased in this ruddy old outfit now didn't I?" He muttered.

He felt a feather light hand press on his shoulder and looked to see that Riina was free, her pointed ears danced as did her harvest green eyes. She wore still not but a simple and rather short-hemmed brown dress. Hidden within it lay at least three blades and a small crossbow. Riina never condoned violence, but the weapons eased Rai's mind, so she had them with her.

She remembered more. Blood, death, screams and shouts. Humans flooding everywhere, she saw some fall by her lover's bow. Others smote those to whom she was akin. She saw life and death spanning over that damned meadow, and to her dismay, she remembered everything. She remembered her fear, her want to stay and help, and her want to run and hide in her home of the trees; as any dryad nymph would. She had stayed, with him, and now she was here, with him.

"You look fine." She whispered. "now straighten up, we have company."

"Well that's obvio-"

"Now who might she be?" She interrupted Rai, asking Bryson. "And why does she think we're art."Her eyes never left the stranger in their midst.

If you p***k us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die?

A deep growl erupted from a four footed creature standing next to Bryson; just before breaking through his own stone enchantment. Three and a half feet of grumpy fury, the gargoyle dog barked a number of times while shaking off the remnants of stone from his body. Instantly, his puppy-like face was adorned with a trademark frown as a hypersensitive nose began sniffing the air.

This was certainly not the last place he remembered being…where was the meadow? The fighting and clamor of steel against steel?

Crimson eyes glancing about, Iain was pleased to see his pet—Bryson of Dal Riata—present and seemingly unharmed. Ah, and all those foreigners were about as well. Ensuring that the other two gargoyles were alive and well, Iain continued to sniff around, stretching his miniature wings while he surveyed the area. Although he was sure Bryson was attempting to show him some manner of affection, the charcoal skinned mutt would have none of it. He first had to verify if they were in safe surroundings, something he was sure his stupid, although well-meaning, pet had not done upon waking.

Silly bi-pedal creatures…how could they even hope to survive without canines?

- - - - -

“Artemis!” Bryson hollered with relief as the first of his brethren awoke, a wide grin spreading across his charming features, “An’ Oberon!” Stepping closer to the satyr, the towering gargoyle placed a clawed hand gently on his best friend’s shoulder, finding comfort in the small exchange. “I dinnae kens, Oberon. Did ye all suddenly ha’e the urge tae bena gargoyle?” Referring light-heartedly to fact that everyone was encased in stone, Bryson attempted to overlook the solemnity of the situation. Everyone was asking for the truth…and all he had was bits and pieces to the puzzle.

“Iain! C’mere ye dunderhied!” Bending slightly and reaching for the gargoyle canine, the redhead’s hand was evaded and ignored with a snort from the overweight dog. Releasing a childish whine, the leader of the clan straightened himself with an amused smirk, “Too gud fer me, are ye?”

Everyone was waking…Riina, Raizou, and Ariana…everyone was going to be okay.

Although something was going on in his peripheral vision—something with a woman’s voice and the clattering of a bottle—the Scottish creature was interrupted by the feeling of a hand on his arm. Blinking in surprise, the gargoyle turned to face his opponent, a frown etching onto his features as instinctive muscles began to tighten. His features must have been terrifying, with slightly bared fangs and his towering physique.

But oh…it was just that human lass; and she seemed as confused as he was.

“A piece o’ art am ah?” Bryson of Dal Riata began to chuckle, his amethyst eyes staring straight at the human, “Weel ye could at leas’ ask fer me name afore ye begin flirtin’ wi’ me.” Never let it be said that despite his appearance, Bryson was not full of himself. Seeing as this human did not seem to pose any threat to them, the Scottish gargoyle did not feel worried. She had no companions, as far as he could smell; and Iain, Bryson was sure, was already checking on any nearby enemies.

“Aye, lady.” The leader continued, his voice accenting hard on his vowel sounds as he agreed with Riina, “Why du ye keep callin’ my clan ‘art?' An’ where is this place ye’ve takin’ us?’”

And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge?

(( OOC: Sorry for the laziness to write in a Scottish accent in this post xD;;

I'm sure Bryson will feel more compelled to actually figure out what happened in the next post -w- ))

The satyr’s eyes fell on the jewel encrusted bottle of the djin. Raising one eyebrow, he quietly sauntered over to the bottle and lifted it gently off the ground.

”Not the safest place for you, my dear,” Oberon smiled as his eyes briefly flashed with greed, “You may get trampled on.”

With those kind words, he stroked the gold and magenta coloring of the bottle. It might not be much, but they all needed to stick together. If anything, it would only be fair for the newest member of their crew to join them. Everyone coming out of these stone casings was the only family each of them had left. They were definitely the only family this brave satyr had. As far as he knew, he was the only one left of his kind, and Oberon didn’t want the only family he had left now to be split up.
Who knew what this new place offered? What was that strange accent and vernacular that this woman had? What in the world did she mean by calling them art? After a minute, the wise satyr closed his eyes.

”Dear Gods, don’t let this be just some random bottle, and don’t tell me I had just gone crazy seeing the genie go in here,” he muttered to himself.

So everyone was asking the same question. That didn’t prove to be helpful in the unicorn’s mind. However, it was at least a good thing that fellow comrades were being released from their stoned casings. The nymph, satyr, and the two other gargoyles were finally free. Ah, his family was up and about. Well…at least some of them.

In return to Bryson's greeting he simply nodded his head. It was rather difficult to smile in unicorn form.

Artemis thought for a moment.
“Per—“ he was cut off. Rustling and then words of a female that did not belong to the nymph or gargoyle were spoken. It sounded a bit hostile, but then the female released his leader and seemed to be a little more on edge. This woman was talking about art and pranks. What in the world was she blabbering?

Silver eyes panned across the floor and found oddly shaped glass things. He wondered if they were important, but shook his head. This was no time to wonder things like that. But how was she not scaring even more than this? She seemed rather…calm for someone who had just laid eyes on two gargoyles, a unicorn, and a satyr. I mean…shouldn’t she be a little more concerned about the things with giant wings and of course the half goat man?

A glow shone from the horse’s horn and wrapped around his body. Pale skin replaced the once snow-white fur, calloused hands and feet were in place of hoofs, and a silvery-white mane were now locks of hair that fell beyond the middle of his back. A gem set in the middle of his forehead, embedded into it. It was in the shape of a kite. Artemis was now in the shape of a human. The only problem with changing into this form was that he didn’t exactly have clothing…not that it bothered him entirely.

He cleared his throat.
"Um…I think it might be better if you calm down very much, Miss,” Artemis spoke calmly to the woman. Sure he wasn’t all for some chick knowing about them, but so long as she didn’t freak out and start killing them…it was safe…right? Besides, he believed in keeping things peaceful for the most part.

(@Harx: I didn't remember that. I think you said something about it at the part, but...I don't even remember what really happened at the party to begin with.)

That was fast!

As soon as she had been yanked in, the bottle belched her out in a cloud of pink, shimmery mist.

This was odd. Instead of a confused looking, solitary human holding her bottle, it was...something else. He certainly looked like a man, but...furrier. And with goat legs. What. Could he be another supernatural? Her heart thumped in her chest. She had never had a supernatural master before! She had heard rumors of one hapless genie who was captured by a wandering Ghoul, and one by a werewolf but...it was extremely rare. How exciting!

“Hello!” She beamed at the satyr. “My name is Sahari Atamanna, and I am a magical djinn, or, genie! I can grant you three wishes, and you can have anything you want!”

She was speaking quickly, but she didn't mind.

“You can call me Sari, if you like! What's your name?”

It was then that she realized that she was blabbering in ancient Arabic. And no one around her probably understood what she was saying. There was a human female amidst what appeared to be a hodgepodge gathering of magical beings. A rather attractive...man? In a loincloth with a dog was speaking. Some sort of language. It sounded similar to what her last master spoke, but heavily inflected. She could barely make out one or two words. He appeared to be the leader of this odd..assortment of creatures.

Whatever he was saying was probably pretty important.

Even though she knew her new master...the goat man... probably wouldn't like it, there really wasn't much he could do about it.

Sahari locked her eyes on her target..the gargoyle's moving lips. It was incredibly rude to interrupt whatever conversation he was having..but she needed to know what was going on! And there was only one way. The Gift of Tongues. Every genie had it, and it was necessary for their job, but...it could sometimes lead to some awkward situations.

Springing forward on the balls of her feet, Sahari launched herself gracefully through the air at Bryce, soft pink lips aimed directly for his.

OOC: Rhaps, Sari is very, very new to the clan XD Her last master was one of the ones attacking them, so she doesn't know any of them yet D:

Ariana watched the seemingly flighty Arab looking girl pounce on bryson. It was rather odd, considering Ariana hadn't the foggiest idea where the girl had come from. She looked around at the many others for some sign of her magical appearance. Soon enough, she spotted a jewel encrusted bottle clutched in the hands of a very confused and dazed looking Oberon. Ariana sidled over next to him to get a closer look at the bottle. It was very well crafted and beautiful, a perfect container for a Genie it would seem. Ariana was very intrigued by the item, and a bit jealous that Oberon had found it and not her.

She would like a wish or two. A wish to send her back through time to before this damned war. A wish to send her back to before the humans ever existed. The world in her mind would have been so much better off without their influence. She would be better off without their influence. Their god awful music and rituals, their need to destroy all they didn't and couldn't understand, they were just not worth the air they breathe. A wish to annihilate their presence from her memory would be great to add to the list.

"I don' mean to be rude," She whispered, trying to hide her Irish brogue. "But why'd you do a darned thing such as let the wee bit out of the bottle?"

She sneaked a peek back at the shenanigans going on between the genie and the gargoyle before looking back at Oberon for an answer, her black eyes fixed.

The saytr was strong, a good ally for a later day. He was smart, a genius even, she knew. He was also very brave. All good qualities, most she lacked. He would make a great ally indeed. She would need his talents for her own means, if it ever came to that. She liked the saytr, he worked well with her discomforts. She was very cunning, but not that brave. She was extremely smart, but not strong enough to see her plans through to fruition. She was shy and calculative and she knew it was her downfall, but she couldn't help that. For now she sat and watched.

Oberon blinked. Well, that was unexpected. First this mysterious genie girl was frozen with them, though he couldn’t recall seeing her there whenever it happened, whatever it was. Now she was speaking gibberish to him and rather rapidly at that.

Then, in the blink of an eye, she goes flying at his best friend for who knows what! The satyr was beginning to think it may have been a bit of a mistake to rub the genie’s bottle.

When he looked up again, Ariana was standing in front of him whispering.

Oberon simply smiled at the girl.
”Do you not think we should all know what has happened to us? She is a genie who has woken up without a master. I figured she would like to know why.”

There was another flash of greed through his dark eyes. There was more to it than that. He couldn’t explain it, but Oberon would swear something inside of him drew him to the genie’s bottle.

Of course, he knew a bit about genies, but only things he heard in hearsay and rumors. Oberon was fairly certain, however, about the three wishes rule; he was certain that the genie was stuck serving whichever master set them free until their three wishes were up. He had no intention of using up his wishes now.

It might seem selfish to some, but at the very least he was granting her the chance to walk around and learn with them.

Rai stared in aw at the genie as she locked lips with Bryson, slightly disturbed by the image. He felt as Riina's hand fell silently into his and with a sideways glance he knew why. Ariana had moved around a bit and that seemed to make Riina uneasy. The two had always had a bit of a conflict between them. Riina always wanted to make friends, Ariana always seemed to brush her aside.

Rai sauntered away from her proximity and over to the gargoyle dog seated near Bryson and stroked its furrowed brow. The creature obviously didn't like being near so many non-gargoyles. Rai thought his presents may ease the animal's tension.

"Hey Iain," He said with a soothing tone. "Too many of 'em huh?"

He smoothed his hands over the creature's rough hide and spoke to it while Riina glanced between the strange human girl and Ariana whispering to Oberon.

"I don't like this," She whispered to herself. "I don't like this at all."

If you p***k us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die?

It all happened so fast.

One moment he was standing there, smug as he ever was and interrogating the harmless human—though he probably should have more reservation about interacting with her kind—and the next moment…his world was turned upside down.

Bryson only saw the figure speeding towards him seconds before she made contact, only able to let out a, “What—“ And then the deed was done.

Bryson of Dal Riata had received his first kiss.

Lavender eyes widening in utter shock, the gargoyle felt his nearing seven feet of muscles tighten and lock as he became as still as when he turned to stone. He had never truly felt sunlight before. As soon as the sun’s warming rays touched his body, the redhead would fell his body transform into frigid granite.

But this…maybe this is what sunlight was meant to feel like; because all of a sudden, Bryson felt warm inside and out. Suddenly overwhelmed by a sensation of melting, it was all the gargoyle could do to keep his knees from going weak. Just as his eyes were about to fall to a close, the kiss was over.

But! Wait! He hadn’t even been able to reciprocate or…whatever it was he was supposed to do! Were all first kisses like this?

Taking a wobbly step back, the leader of the clan began to raise a clawed hand to his lips before forcing himself to stop and keeping both hands at either side. Eyes locked on the woman that had unexpectedly kissed him. He had no idea who she was. But she was…

Absolutely gorgeous. Dark hair. Tan skin. Eyes that he could drown in. She was literally like nothing that he had ever beheld before.

Then came a familiar feeling…the kind that began in his stomach but wasn’t a yearning for food. Was it…could it be?

Yes. Bryson was in love.

“Whu…whu are ye?” A name! He needed a name to call this angel and fantastical beauty! “What is yer name, m’lady?” A blush was still evident on his light-skinned face, eyes still slightly dazed as he easily forgot about the importance of the situation at hand. How could anyone or anything else matter when he had found the person that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with? Did she feel the same way? Was that why she had kissed him? Oh, he had to at least attempt to keep his emotions in check. At least until he was sure!

His gentlemanly upbringing coming to the forefront of his mind, the gargoyle folded an arm across his chest and offered a deep bow,
“An’ tae what du ah owe the pleasure?”

- - - - -

Iain was not pleased.

Barking loudly in protest as the human-like creature attacked his pet with affection, the canine almost made a move to defend Bryson. It was only Raizou’s words and hand on his head that kept the gargoyle dog at bay. Still growling and eyes glowing red, the mutt made it very apparent that he did not like his charge to be handled in such a way. What was that female anyway? She was no gargoyle or human…like nothing he had smelled before.

She was no suitable mate for his Bryson. Hmph. She had better keep herself away.

And what was this? What was Bryson doing just making small talk? He still needed to discuss with the clan how they all had arrived here! This was not the time to oogle at females!

Indeed, Raizou was right. There were far too many of these non-gargoyles about. Miniature wings spread to their maximum span of a foot or so, it was only because of the fellow gargoyle’s kind attention that Iain was kept barely content. Perhaps he would let himself forget about the human-like girl for a while and simply enjoy the man scratching his head. He did enjoy a good head rub; and with how few of them he received, he was not about to let this one pass by.

Reverting to become more of the puppy that he was, Iain let his guard down and nuzzled his head into Raizou’s hand with a cheerful, “Aarf!”

No sooner had the words passed through the now “human” Artemis felt a wind rush past him. It sent a chill down his spine. There he was a hand lifted in a scholarly manner ready to say something to the human and Bryson. Alas, he could not. Artemis had frozen; his eyes slid maliciously over to the dijin that had kissed his leader. He forced back a twitch in his eyebrow. This was counter productive.

“Pardon,” he half whispered to the human woman. The unicorn’s attention was redirected to Bryce and this…this…hussy! Why on earth was she kissing gargoyles? Artemis heard the yapping of Iain and he certainly could understand the stress. Some young lady with hardly any clothes on (not that he had any room to talk about lack of clothing) was just going around kissing dark, scary creatures! Not to mention she came from a bottle that needed to be rubbed first. Disgraceful!

But above all else…she was now a distraction from the main issue.

Artemis took a breath and focused on his leader and the new female that had been produced only because Oberon had fancied her pretty bottle. He waited for her to introduce herself and for the gargoyle to ask his questions. Then he immediately interjected,
“Bryson, Sir, you were about to discuss some important issues.” Silver eyes flashed over to the human and back to the winged lad.

Honestly, how did things get so jumbled?

“Perhaps you could discuss matters with the lady at another point in time rather than here and now?” Artemis suggested with his tone a bit more stern than usual. As long as the clan was safe then this wouldn’t be so distressing to the unicorn. However, they were in a foreign place that smelled of mothballs and wood. Not to mention if there was one human there could be others coming eventually.

Morgan stumbled back a few steps as The Djinn of Avon gave the gargoyle she had been accosting a huge kiss. This was too much for one night. First, moving statues, now, moving statues engaging in public displays of affection. The others seemed a bit taken aback but no one was doing anything about it.

However, Morgan, being not only single, but kind of a lip virgin, was highly offended. Her fury finally reached its boiling point.

“OK, what is going on here?!” she screamed. “You’re all statues, and then you all broke and now you’re apparently alive and making out in the museum basement and leaving an awful mess that I’m gonna have to clean up so I think I at least deserve an explanation why tonight, of all nights, fifteen hundred year old statues decide to bust themselves up and have a party! As if I don’t have enough to worry about!” Morgan stopped and took a few deep breaths, realizing she might be frightening them. The last thing she wanted was for them to all run off and her to have to chase them down.

“Look, I’d love to believe this is all real, that gargoyles and nymphs and unicorns still exist… I just can’t. I got that beaten out of me a long time ago.” She looked sidelong at the unicorn-man who had mumbled something to her before her outburst, and quickly turned away, picking up her jacket from where she had hung it on a box, and shoved it in his direction, blushing fiercely. He couldn’t go around naked like that. “So unless the lot of you plan on turning back to stone when the sun comes up, I suggest you leave now. The world can’t handle this.”

User ImageThere was an absence of air. Dandak kept trying to breathe, but no air was coming into his nose. He started to hear cracking. Air was now present, and it was getting easier to breathe the louder the cracking sounds became. A beam of light hit his face. He squinted at its presence. It felt like it had been a while since he had seen any form of light. He glanced down to see that apart from his head, his body was encased in stone, crumbling stone that is. He whipped his tail side to side hitting harder and faster against the stone until there was none left around his tail. He had no choice but to wait until the stone around his upper body fell away.

It was then heard someone scream, “So unless the lot of you plan on turning back to stone when the sun comes up, I suggest you leave now. The world can’t handle this.” It appeared to be a human female. Oh how Dandak adored humans, though most were afraid of him. They would look at his half human, half snake body and normally flee in terror. He wasn’t really scary looking, its just that a good bit of humans are afraid of snakes. Alas, he couldn’t help it, he was a Naga and he couldn’t change that.

Then It occurred to him, ‘Wasn’t I in a battle? What happened to my pole arm? My Clan, where are..’ He stopped and looked around the woman. It was his clan, and some being he didn’t recognize, she looked human, but it seemed that she wasn’t. Could she be a genie? ‘Nah,’ he thought. It couldn’t be a genie, because no one in his clan had a genie, unless they had somehow obtained one. It was no use to think about it though, his memory was fuzzy. He figured that Bryce would know, or at least he should, he is their leader afterall. He hated being confused, and it looked like he was one of the last members to break out of stone. Hopefully others knew.

Dandak was tucked in a different part of the room from the others, so he slithered his way on over are was looking at the strange being, that could possibly be a genie.

“Hey Bryce, who is this, and who is that human? And why was I surrounded by stone, I ain’t a gargoyle.” He said. He was no longer finding the strange being interesting, so he slithered on over to the human.

“I’m Dandak,” He cheerfully spoke, “Who might you be? I just love humans, though most just run away from me! Heh, Oh and Clan, have you seen my polearm, how can I protect m’self without it?”

Ariana was focused now on the human might and her continued rant. She seemed a bit offended by the genie's affection towards Bryson, then again, so did she. She also seemed uncomfortable with Artemis's nudity. Ariana snuffed and glared, aggravated at the girl's statements. Classic of humans to forget their own history, typical for them to wipe their own minds of the pain they've caused others. Evil, that's all Ariana had to say about it, evil to the core. Born kicking and screaming and demanding things they don't deserve.

Humans, She thought with a snarl. Always concerned for themselves only. Always destroying or denying everything they don't understand.

She fiddled and snipped about, looking this way and that, then she finally noticed the half man half snake Dendak fawning over the creature, deplorable. How could he like the very thing that destroyed their way of life? In all honesty Ariana was bitter, but she could live with that.

This was a messy situation, a very messy one indeed and Ariana had to be careful what she said and did. She was always so very careful about things like these, her opinion would have to be kept quiet. But as for right now, she just wanted to know what happened, where were they, and how they could leave as soon as possible, this comical display was taking up way too much time.

She glanced at Oberon with some curiosity, than back to unfolding events. Then her gaze caught the eye of one Riina. She was staring at her. It was rather unsettling and soon Ariana had to sit and look away toward more mind boggling shenanigans.

Oberon glanced at Ariana staring off in a different direction. Now that her attention wasn’t drawn to him and why he wanted the genie, he moved toward the human girl himself. ”If you will pardon me for a bit, my dear,” he added to Ariana before completely walking off.

Once beside the youngest member of their group, the wise satyr placed a gentle hand on the naga’s shoulder.
”Mind if I interject for a moment, Dandak,” Oberon smiled. He didn’t really bother waiting for an answer of course.

”So you do not believe in gargoyls, nymphs, and unicorns. All very understandable. Quite fantastic creatures they are, but me, well, I am a satyr, obviously, what with the goat legs. So I should be golden when it comes to what you believe, which is clearly not what is clearly in front of you. I guess you cannot believe all of what you see, for the most part,” he smirked at the human girl standing there. Oh the joy he got from messing with the narrow-minded creatures of the world. How could she not believe that these creatures were really here?

The man paused for a minute taking in her features as he let the first part of his speech sink in.

”And to be honest,” he continued after what he thought was a significant enough pause, “I do believe Bryce (Oberon indicated his best friend) and the rest of the gargoyles and the gargoyle dog do plan on returning to a statue like form when the sun comes up. Really, it cannot be helped. However, and I only speak for myself here, I did not particularly fancy being encased in stone for any amount of time. So, all in all, I will not be returning to statue formation in the morning, ducky.”

The satyr gave her a brilliant smile. The smile tried to pass as apologetic, but Oberon was sure his enjoyment was shining through. He doesn’t really hate humans; he just enjoys playing with being in general.
