"If I knew," she said, her voice harsh with suppressed emotion, "do you think I would dream of killing him for it every night?" She shook her head. "Go away, Tasso. You've got good brothers, brothers that support you, brothers that wouldn't betray you, not like Jahi. Be happy with that. Because I've got nothing anymore."

"How do you know my brothers?" He asked, still chasing after her. He hated asking her so many questions when she was obviously hurt, but... She seemed rather certain in her answer. like she knew something he didn't about them.
When she made the comment that she had nothing left he stopped in his tracks. He knew that she was a slave, and now he knew all that had happened within her family. But when she summed it up so sweetly in those terms, for some reason it really hit Tasso hard.
"You still have your life. That's something, isn't it?" He yelled out to her, panting between his words.
"And I promise that some day soon, you'll have your freedom back too."

She looked at him, almost spitting. "Guess what?" she said. "Ihaj told me that EXACT SAME THING. And you know what happened to him," she said coldly. "And watch your brothers sometime, especially Jabari. You might learn something." Then she gave him such a torn, tormented expression that it seemed like she had long since passed the point of tears.
"Don't... don't talk about this, Tasso. Or talk to me. Not again." She turned, racing away as fast as her paws could take her for the Jaw, intent on hiding in the shadows again.

Tasso silently stood his ground with a stern look on his face as the lionesses in front of him spoke her piece. Once she turned around and began to run away though, Tasso couldn't hold his anger back anymore.
"You don't have to worry about that! And you better stay away from me and my brothers!" He hollered out to her and let out a furious roar as he said brothers. He could care less if anyone heard him. What nerve, telling him to stay away from her when SHE had been the one who followed him all the way out to his spot. Tasso hadn't even asked to heard about her story, she was the one who brought it up.
The large male turned and swiped his massive paw against a tree in frustration; his claws leaving deep indents and bark flew off in all directions. Tasso let out a low growl, resisting the urge to take another swipe at the tree, and instead turned back in the opposite direction, stomping towards his favorite nightly hideout once again.
What a strange night.
