moon_faire I heard that Pandora was given a box and told never to open it. She did and all the worlds evils were released but at the very last thing to be released was hope. I version of this myth was used in Tomb Raider II, and in the TNT series Charmend wow, never knew that..awesome!

The only thing sad about it is the thought of woman is the one who let out all the negatives. But that doesn't stop me enjoying this myth or anyother myth to come up. Greek mythology so cool all mythology cool I love them all.

Man! So many versions!
I heard that the last thing still trapped inside the box was the ability to know everything bad that will every happen to us. I guess it's similar to the "losing hope' one.

i heard that she recieved a box which she was forbidden to open, and after many long days she had forgotten about it...about a month later
her window was open and the first sun hit a beam of light strait on the box, the gold inlay shining, and she was so stunned by its beauty, that she had to open it, she felt she had no choice. So Pandora slowly opened the box and it it she found all evils, which were released and free to roam about the earth. They soon found that there was still one thing left, one thing that could save them-hope heart

from the book on classical myth that I have read it says that Pandora's box was really a Jar, it also said that Pandora was sent to earth by the gods to see a mortal man who was warned not to accept gifts from the gods, but since it was a pretty mortal woman who delivered the gods gift he took it un-knowing. Once he opened it hate, disease and all this other bad stuff was released into the mortal world. The only thing said to be left in the Jar was "Hope", I guess its like a "hope" for the future that things will be better... anyway let me know if anyone else has heard of this version... if not ill have to find my book... its back in Rez so ill have to wait a week to find the name/author of the book. heart

I love greek mythology so im kinda embaresed to never have heard this story befor redface but I'm glad I'v read it here because its really interestin. It kinda kills all the movies and games and stuff where there going to open pandoras box now that im aware of its story because I know whats in it. Though its no longer a mystery seeing this depicted in all of its chaos would be rather interesting twisted .

the version that i heard was that she recieved a box she wasn't allowed to open but curiosity got the best of her and she released the evil contained in the box...i also think there was something about hope...but i can't recall it.
