Questionable Gatekeeper

Ari was knocked out of his thoughts when Sweetpea took off down the tunnel. He followed the officers after her.

He turned his gaze up at the warehouse straight in front of the groups, its still the same as ever. He listens to the conversations around him with a level glance back to Bossiet and Wiley as they plan on what to do. He knows this particular warehouse has a certain flare with the local strays, but he also knows he can't speak of that since he is a "pet" to the group. He was beginning to wonder if his choice of choosing to pretend to be a pet was a wrong one.

He almost missed the group assignments.
"Understood Officer Wiley, sir. I'll make sure keep a sharp eye out." Bossiet and I are together again...I can't blame Wiley for that though. I didn't miss the fireworks between her and Jac. Putting those two together would end in a disaster. I don't like it, but its practical for the two of us to be in the same mini group. He started thinking of a signal that all dogs could do and understand, but the best he could come up with was howling and that would attract attention of not only the group, but other ears as well."I can't think of any other signal that could be used, that could advert other dog suspicion." Ari looks to the side he will be "patrolling". My life just doesn't get any easier does it? He keeps on his toes while he makes a few short steps toward the right side of the warehouse. He turns to make sure Boston is following.

Jacques seemed to not react a bit to Bostons retort. He hadn't meant for her to take it that way,but so be it. He moved through the tunnel calmly before moving to the other side of Wiley avoiding Boston.

"Sounds good to me Wiley." Jacques then turned to Sweet Pea eying her in a curious manner. "I personally wouldn't feel comfortable with such as thing Sweetpea. I'll just rip an opening wider if need be, non of us go anywhere alone. I think the other officers will agree with this thought." Sweetpea was trouble in his eyes easily excitable and untrained he would be keeping a closer eye one her from now on for her own good.

Wiley smiled at Sweet Pea and Jac. "Well, both of you are right. If we need to head in to go after some strays, one of us officers will go first. But your size is definitely an asset. You could stick your head through a gap or hole to check for any immediate dangers." His smile dipped at the corners, turning more serious. "You'll just have to promise you wont go rushing in willy-nilly, Sweet Pea." The shepherd looked to Ari. The Doberman had a point. If there were truly strays around, any signal calls would either attract scouts or scare other potential suspects. The officer was stumped. "You're right, Ari. I hadn't though of that. Boston, this seems more like your area of expertise. What are your thoughts?"

Boston was alarmed by Sweet Pea's bolting, but Wiley had it under control. The girl seemed to be fond of him, which was good. She let Wiley handle it as she thought about the best way to stay in communication. What she wouldn't give for the ability to use a radio as the humans did! "Stripes is right; we don't want to shout anything that'll give us away. What we need is something that'll sound like a gang call but isn't. Something, say, a low-level street pooch might have picked up to supplicate a bigger boss. Lemme think- of the smaller packs in the area, most of them use a sort of howl. That won't do too well. But there's one, one that's not at all considered a threat- mostly smaller dogs, and all beggars instead of fighters. Theirs is two barks followed by this really high-pitched keening howl- really more of a whine. So... let's use three barks, followed by a high-pitched whine. If you get into trouble, make it sound like you're a lot more hurt than you are. It'll throw anything attacking you off their guard and it'll bring the rest of us running. I'm not gonna lie; there's a risk involved if other dogs join in the attack when they sense weakness. But usually that doesn't happen. See, these dogs who live out here- they're proud. They don't want another dog muscling in on their target, unless it's some kind of gang initiation, in which case they'll pin you down for a juvenile to finish off. Those are pretty easy to get out of if they think you're more hurt than you are. Think that'll work?"

She noticed that her partner was ready to leave. Such a dedicated fella! Depending on how this went, she might have to push him to take the test again, with her and the other two putting in a good word for him. As she turned to follow Ari, the Akita winked at Sweet Pea. "Red, take care of the other officers for me. Sometimes the fellas need a lady around to keep them on their toes. Keep safe, and good luck!" She then headed after Ari, pleased to be teamed up with the Doberman. "Biscuit for your thoughts? I know this must seem unusual to you," she said softly as she cased the warehouse's hallway, searching for tracks, scents, and unusual clawmarks. "I'll bet your home isn't much like this place. I... I know that most of 'em are criminals, but I can't help but feel sorry for dogs who live in these warehouses. A good chunk of them were born into it and never got a fair start... and a lot of dogs don't understand that, including some of the gang leaders. It's why tracking the big packs is so important. Gotta watch out for the little dog- the alphas usually only care about power, not about the dogs in their gangs. A lot of... comparatively innocent dogs could get hurt." She then fell silent as several new scents came through. There were definitely traces of a skinny lab she'd shaken down as an informant recently; he had ties to a pack of thieves that nabbed meat from the stockyards. But they weren't too fresh; possibly from before she'd taken him down to the station. There were a lot of rats in the warehouse, too; she could smell them distinctly. If a pack was hungry enough, they could make a good living on rat. There were a few unfamiliar scents, too, which she ran against the ones she had stored in her memory, hoping to uncover something solid.

Ari sniffed the air as he walked to the right side of the warehouse, there were a lot of different unknown and known smells to him. He was not naive to discount the rat scent as not important. A lot of dogs used the pungent scent as a cover. The only unusual thing about this is that I am teamed up with a police dog. "Yeah, its different to say the least. I never would of thought I'd end up here of all places. He started to wonder just what she thought he was. She was treating him like a pup just out of the house. His ears perked up when she started talking about what she thought of the majority of strays out here. I've seen a lot of that happen, in fact, that is sort of like my life with a little difference in the way I came to be a stray. "Its hard to think of how many pups are born in to this life style....just like some of my truly good friends. He mumbles the last part silently. "I can't really say that I'm doing much at all to help them, sometimes I wish that I could do more for them, but there's not much one dog can do. He hadn't meant to speak the last part out loud, but he just shrugged it off as a caring pet would muse out loud. I've seen too many pups be brought up in the face of crime. If only I was a police dog I'd fight and save the pups from this life, but that is neither here nor there. I am an informant, there is really nothing that can change that, now or in the future. He sighs while looking for irregularities in the dust and dirt around the warehouse.

A german shepherd tried to sneak quietly out of the warehouse, attempting to pass by unseen, but Ari and Boston had rounded the corner and there was no way for it to escape. Pinned against the wall, it growled and snapped it's teeth, a challenge. There was no way to go about this without a fight.

Read the battle thread and attack! This dog could be a part of the stray pack and needs to be taken down!

When it's HP hits zero, I suggest you use a restraining collar.

Please only attack once, then wait for me to post again.

Ari regarded the fellow stray. He had not seen this shepherd before. He didn't hesitate to take the issued challenged as he would normally, he dropped into a fighting stance head parallel to the ground. He had completely zoned out Boston and the others, he growled a warning before he lunged at the stray,

Boston saw the shepherd an instant after Ari did. Growling ferociously, she bounded after the interloper, focusing her efforts on his back. This was a dog they could mine for information; she didn't want to damage his head or his throat in any way. Informers needed to be able to talk, and if you damaged the head first, everything afterwards would be fuzzy. She wanted him sharp! She noticed that he looked frightened- he'd been trying to escape, probably. Maybe he hadn't wanted this fight. But then, there was just as much a chance that he'd been trying to warn some larger dog that somebody was coming. She also couldn't help but notice that Ari had jumped in first and had been very effective- especially for a house pet. What must have gone on to prevent his entry into the force? Did his tester just not like him? But she didn't think about this for long; there was a German shepherd to subdue! She knew where her restraining collars were; she could pull one out quickly once they were done grappling with him and book him for questioning.

Ha. HAHAH! The german shepherd cackled at their attempts to defeat him. Sure, they'd gotten a few blows in, but he was obviously stronger. He gave one more sneering chuckle before he turned and left, no longer caring about the weaklings who couldn't beat him. Click here to follow him!
