A slender gray figure appeared upon the horizon, the edges shining from the desert heat. She appeared to be just a mirage, too delicate and fragile to be traveling the hot, wild desert alone. Yet, there she was, flesh and bones. Heavy gray lids drooped lower 'pon soft dove-hued eyes, and a sad smile was cast down to the vibrant cub beside her. She had promised young Blaze water, so water he would get.
"Tired?"
The young rainbow cub smiled up to his mother, his oddly colored eyes shining. He shook his head at her question, his tail swishing back and forth in rythm to his irregular gait. He was quite tired, actually, and thirsty, but he refused to cause his mother any more worry. After what they had been through, he felt bad enough for his mother.

It took a moment for Fayola to finally unlock her jaws. The zebra blood tasted good after the oasis's warthogs and meerkats. Her jaws hurt from the strain and it felt good. Gold eyes swung around to see the lion and stared.
She must have been a funny sight, a green lioness with red staining her jaws practically laying across the back of a dead zebra and staring at the lion.
"My name is Fayola..."

Kallivenion smiled and gave a courteous dip of his head, his magnificent mane ruffling about his featrues for a moment as he touched his nose to his paw. "It is an honor to meet such a great huntress as yourself Fayola... I must say, you did quite well on this kill." He nodded to the zebra, sitting in the dirt and surveying the skittish herd that had moved closer to the plateau. The animals wove and trotted for some time before finally settling down and grazing once more. A soft breeze picked up, ruffling the emerald grass, the leaves of the trees, the golden grasses beyond the oasis grass formed a soft sea, and in the distance, Kall could see movement. He stood with a growl, suddenly uneasy that Fayola had made it so far into his lands without detection. The breeze kicked up again, bringing with it the scent of a new lioness to the king's nose. But she was not alone. "Guests."

Whisper's steps lagged, and her head drooped wearily. They had been walking for about three days now, across the hot desert, deprived of water. Occasionally, she had even carried young Blare when he had slept. She sighed, her eyes scanning the sandy plain. Her grey eyes suddenly caught something a few feet away. Grass! Her head jerked up, and a wide smile appeared on her face. Grass ment water!
Blare noticed the sudden change in his mother, and he scanned the horizon for what might of caused it. All he saw was grass in the distance. Wait... grass?!
"Mom! There must be water nearby!!"
He exclaimed, bounding foeward, his energy renewed.

Kallivenion nodded a farewell to Fayola and loped forward, eager to greet those who had stepped into his lands. As he approached he noticed the sandy figures of a lioness and cub, and cocked his head at them. He slowed his pace to a stately walk, and halted before them. "Greetings travelers." He boomed in a deep purring voice. "My name is Kallivenion and welcome, would you have water and rest here?" He eyed the lioness as he spoke. She was lovely, but exhausted, and the rainbow cub was full of energy, but only for the moment. They both looked ready to drop. "Pray, rest awhile with me." He urged.

Fayola clambered down off the carcass, walking a few feet away before sitting down. It wouldn't be safe to leave the zebra by it's self.

Whisper smiled sadly to the large brown king, and nodded politely to his offer.
"If we will not be too much trouble. We have been walking for a ways, and the desert displays little hospitality toward it's travelers."
She cast her gaze downward, and slowly walked past him. She glanced about for young Blare, whom had rushed past her toward a water source. She quickened her step, eager to reach the stream.
Blare hadn't waited for his mother, he had rushed ahead toward the water. With a delighted squeal, he jumped in, his dusty fur clinging to him.

Kallivenion nodded deeply, turning and accompanying the lioness toward the water, smiling at the young cub as he splashed about. His cyan eyes soon returned to the soft grey female, and he remembered the zebra. "Perhaps, when you have drunk, you will eat?" He glanced toward Fayola. "Another visitor just made a kill, and I am sure it would feed you all."

Fayola watched the chocolate brown lion with the two new lions. Her gaze lingered on the cub before looking to the lioness. She didn't seem familiar, but she could make acquantince later.

Kall trotted back to Fayola and bowed slightly to her. "Fayola....Would you mind feeding them?" He asked with a glance in the visitors direction. "I'm going out to hunt once more, if you would all start without me, I shall not be too long." He met her eyes for a moment.

"Oh, no please. We couldn't eat your kill. I will go out and hunt... As soon as I lay down for a spell... I fell a tad dizzy. That heat can really get to you..."
Whisper chuckled quietly, walking over toward a large tree that overshadowed a section of the river. She gently laid down upon the cool, damp sand, her eyes flicking once toward the kill, then toward the kindly gentleman who owned the lands, then to her cub, whom was soaked so that his rainbow-hued fur stuck limply to his heaving sides. He had come over to her, and she could see just how thin he had become. She smiled sadly to her child, and stood shakily. She was feeling a tad better after the shade, but she was still weak. Slowly walking over toward the King, she bowed her head low, slightly embarassed.
"Kind sir, might my child have a taste of your kill? I'm afraid I'm still a tad weak from the journey. I will repay you, and the green lioness both."
Blaire watched his mother as she stumbled about, and a flicker of worry appeared in his oddly-colored eyes. He hated to see his mother in this condition. Quickly, he shook his wet coat, small crystal droplets flying off of him into the hot sand, where they quickly evaporated. He trotted over toward his mother and the King, his head high despite the growling of his stomach.
"I will go hunt."
He declared bravely, if not foolishly. He wished for no pity, and he knew his mother did not want it either. He had to be strong, for her sake as well as his own.

((Thank goodness Kam.. I was gettin worried! *luffles*))
Kallivenion turned and glanced at the pale grey lioness. "Please. As King, I have some say over what my Guests do... I would have you all feed, and I shall go hunt. Fayola beat me to my kill for the day, so I have no trouble hunting once more."
"Fayola, would you care for them?" He asked, but was pulled away as the grey lioness spoke once more. He smiled at the lioness, and her bright son. "Please eat... You as well youngling. Perhaps you shall hunt once you are rested and fed. But I would not have you sicken yourself because you are unwell and chasing game."
He rumbled deeply in his chest and shook out his mane. "I will return soon with game. Once we have all fed, I can show you to the caves where I make my home, for there it is quite cool, and you may all rest."
He eyed the gentle lioness. "What is your name? And that of your son? I do not believe you ever gave it."

Whisper flushed scarlet, lowering her eyes. She was terribly embarassed, forgetting to introduce herself before she waltzed onto his land. What on earth was she thinking?
"Please, forgive my rudeness. I am Whisper, and this is my son, Blare. I'm so sorry, I've been rude and only set foot on your humble lands for a few moments."
She spoke softly, her voice barely carried by the wind to reach Kall's ears. She drug her claws through the sand, not daring to look up at him. How could she eat his food, sleep on his land now, after being so brutish and forgetting her manners?
Blare glanced up at his mother worriedly, catching the embarrassed look on her face. He brushed against her gently, catching her eye. Don't worry... He told her mentally, smiling reassuringly to her.

Sensing the other females embarrassment, Fayola gently nudged her shoulder, purring. "Please come eat, you and your son." She smiled. "I will have a hard time eating it all even with Kallivenion's help."
With that she turned to the chocolate and blue King, cuffing him with a paw. "You eat as well. I intruded on your hunt, the Zebra is rightfully yours."

Kallivenion nosed Whisper and tapped Blare on the head with a mighty paw. The gesture almost a fatherly one. "Neither of you have anything to be ashamed of, and both are welcome in my lands..."
He smiled then turned to Fayola, rumbling in his chest and nipping at her ear gently. "You intruded upon nothing, I hope you will all choose to make this your home. The food and land are rightfully yours if you wish to stay."
