As comfortable as Mystery was around girls in their undergarments, she also was taught the thing called manners. Her mom called it "professionalism," but it was a matter of splitting hairs at that point. So once Arilee was settled in, the girl trotted off to the entrance of the closet-space, stopping once she hit the beaded drape.
"When you are done... just come back out here... we can go to the living room and get started!" Mystery casually moved the little blue and white bird to her shoulder, giving herself more of a pirate-look, despite how small her "parrot" was.
The little bird seemed to just hop over for a moment so it could idly fuss with the child's hair with her beak.
It wasn't an uncommon behavior from Requiem, and the girl giggled a bit at her mom's bird. Despite her amusement, she eventually began to twirl one of the strands of beads from the drape with her finger. "Oh... Just thinkamulating*... did you pay already in full for your appointment?"

Arilee had stripping down quickly down to a near art form as her sweatpants and sandals followed her shirt in rapid succession. She stood a moment and stared at herself in the mirror, wondering how Carolynn would choose to hide or show off her various tattoos. Grinning a bit, she slid the robe on and wrapped it before cinching it at the waist. It was just short enough that part of the ink on her leg showed peeking past the hem.
Hearing the soft rustle of the beaded drape, Arilee simply shook her head and chuckled. Mystery was some kid and she found herself hoping that Carolynn knew and appreciated that. Though, given how easy the two seemed with each other, it was quite likely she did. It was really a lovely thing to see, though it caused a sudden, painful wave of lonliness for her own late mother to wash over her.
Shaking her head to clear it, she exited the bathroom just as she heard Mystery's question.
"Money. Right!" she exclaimed before ducking back into the bathroom to extract a wad of cash from her bag. "I'm still waiting for the credit card I got to get to me, so I brought cash. Hope that's okay?"
Stepping back out, cash in hand, she grinned. "Should I just give this to you or wait for your mom?"

The child's eyes lit up quite quickly as Arilee mentioned how she hadn't paid yet. Rather suddenly the girl was practically smooshing herself up against the elder girl's side, almost hugging onto the silky robe.
"Oh good!!! Cash is fine... but because you haven't paid... I can ask you something?!"
For a moment the child's eyes were as wide and adoring as that of a young puppy, waiting for someone to claim it and take it home.
Of course, Mystery did have a home. So it was obvious she wasn't going to ask to go home with Arilee.
Regardless of whether the blonde agreed to listening to the inquiry, the child soon enough was rambling out what was on her mind. "So anyways... Mom kinda has a special 'deal'... I think it's 10% off of the entire appointment. It's not advertised on the website... I think she said because it isn't entirely professional or anything... but... um... Basically it is letting me do your make-up..."
There had been an awkward energy and excitement to her voice the entire time, but once she got to the point, she had to pause for a moment. Perhaps it was to moisten her tongue after spewing out so much information. Or perhaps it was simply to regain her composure. Either way, after a good 10 second pause, she resumed.
"Mom will be there an supervise... so it's not going to look like a two year old colored crayons on your face. If I mess up, Mom will be there to correct whatever I do, and she's stepped in like one or two times before... but... can I please do your make-up? Please? Pleeeeaaaase?!"
Requiem awkwardly hopped back a bit as the child soon enough was squeezing about Arilee's midsection, attempting to hug and puppy-eye her way into getting what she wanted.

Arilee was most definitely not used to children hugging up against her. Particularly when she was in a robe and not much else.
"Umm..." she started to say, only to be cut off as Mystery surged forward with her question. And really, it wasn't that outrageous of a question. It was logical that Mystery, who clearly helped her mom out whenever she could would start to learn about doing makeup and want to experiment to get better.
Arilee opened her mouth to answer during the silence, but still wasn't quick enough as Mystery soon spoke again. And she was hugging again as the poor little budgie was hopping out of the way so she wouldn't be smooshed. Ackwardly patting Mystery on the head while trying to figure out how exactly to de-tangle herself from the kid without hurting her physically or emotionally, Arilee laughed a little.
"Sure, you can do it. You can stop with the puppy eyes now."
Though, at this point, Arilee thought she might have agreed to clown make-up just to stop feeling like an unintentional *****. Had she been fully clothed, the hugging wouldn't have bothered her. But down to her skivvies and a short robe was a whole 'nother thing entirely!

The child let out a squeal of sheer delight (which caused her poor traveling companion to puff up, feathers fanning out in complete surprise), giving the blonde one final firm squeeze of a hug before releasing her back to the wilds.
"Yes yes yes yes yes yes!!!" She bounced slightly as she went back to the main hallway, practically galloping back to where her mom was setting up.
"Mom! MAWWWWWWM!!!! Arilee said I could do her makeup! Where did you put the stool? Is it in the kitchen?
Carolynn merely chuckled before glancing to the hallway that led to the walk-in closet. Casually she called out to her current customer "...so I take it Mystery conned you into letting her do your makeup? I'm sure she explained I give a discount for that!" With a casual tap to the child's head before she started laying out various makeup brushes, she mentioned quietly "In the kitchen... cabinet under the sink..."
The child zipped off full speed to the kitchen, easily creating quite the racket with her shoes upon the floor. Requiem, in her infinite wisdom, took the moment before Mystery ran to abandon ship. She momentarily flapped her wings long enough to get airborne, then landed on the table by the makeup brushes being laid out. She tapped a particularly fanned out brush along the handle with her beak, nudging it slightly.
Carolynn carefully planted a single finger on the bird's head and gave her a light pet before putting out a finger. "Come on silly girl... leave those alone... up, up!"
The budgie seemed to perk up and soon enough hopped up on the finger, happy for a new perch.
Once Arilee had ventured closer, Carolynn briefly mentioned "...if it is any consolation... I will still be the one attending to your hair. Mystery's focus generally is makeup... she's not nearly as interested in the hair part yet."
The approaching sound of little feet on the hardwood floor meant the child would soon be back. Soon enough Mystery was making her way to the living room with a stool. The table that Carolynn was setting up had a wide variety of makeup spread out and various other tool of the trade. Brushes and sponges, a little bottle of eyelash glue, and several types of false eyelashes were all laid out with great care. Next to the table was a relatively thin and tall chair. The silvery-haired girl set up her stool next to it, which seemed to explain silently where Arilee was supposed to go next.
"Okay, up you go!" the child said, patting the base of the taller chair.

Arilee let out a soft "Oof!" as Mystery hugged her one more time before dashing off. Shaking her head slightly, she leaned against the wall for a moment to regain her composure. Had she ever had that much energy at that age? While she was pretty sure she had and still did, Arilee still felt almost like she was moving in slow motion compared to that kid.
As she pushed herself from the wall, she heard Carolynn's voice and smiled. She liked these two. Well. Three if you counted the budgie.
"She might have mentioned it," she called back as she headed for the living room. "It's my firm opinion that she could end wars with those puppy dog eyes of her's!"
As she moved closer, she could see that the bird had opted for a less energetic perch and chuckled.
"It's cool," she replied to Carolynn's reassurances. "I honestly don't mind letting her do it. She's just very.. ahh... intense about it."
She might have mentioned that Carolynn perhaps have a talk with her daughter about the advisability of hugging half naked strangers to get her way, but before she could figure out how exactly to do that tactfully, the child in question was back and carting a stool. Well, maybe later.
With a smile and soft sigh, she took the seat and sat a little stiffly, wondering how much she could relax and stretch out.

Once Arilee was in the seat, Mystery began to fuss with looking at the colors of the various concealers her mother had laid out. Matching colors was very important, so it was something she had to practice to master someday. As she kept herself occupied, the elder of the Wyldes replied to a couple of the client's comments.
"Intense... perhaps... but I tend to think of it as being passionate about something she loves! Though... using puppy-eyes is not a good tactic to get what she wants..."
"I didn't use puppy eyes!" Mystery scoffed. "I used kitten eyes! TREMENDAGANTUAN* difference!"
"Still!" That was about as much of a scolding as Mystery would get, unfortunately.
Once the child picked out a concealer, she grabbed a makeup sponge along with the bottle and stepped up on her stool. She dabbed a small bit on the sponge, then blended it lightly upon Arilee's cheek. Her mouth puckered up tightly as she seemed to try to judge the color.
"Do you go out in the sun a lot? Like, get tans? You look like you do, but maybe you naturally are that color... I can't tell..."
As the eleven year old seemed to try and figure out if the color was right or not, her mother was already pulling out the proper color silently. Mystery had picked a hint too dark, which would look pretty awkward if she kept up. However, she wasn't going to mention it immediately. Her daughter still seemed to be trying to figure out the coloration for herself. Instead, she had to comment on something else.
"So I am seeing a bit of tattoo, Arilee. Might I ask what it is?" She gestured to the girl's thigh which had a bit of blue ink peaking out from under the silky robe.

Passionate. Hooboy, Arilee thought with a hint of amusement. Carolynn really likes that word. Still, if she chose to argue (a bad idea all things considered) she would be venturing into semantics. Ugh. Though judging by Mystery's puppy vs. kitten eye remark, the kid was already a master of the art. Well, maybe she couldn't put this off after all.
"Hugging half-naked, near-strangers whilst using magic puppykitten eyes is a kind of low blow tactic too," she said in the gentlest possible voice she could manage without sounding like she was apologizing. Or as if she was trying to do scolding of her own. Which she most definitely was not.
She held still a moment as Mystery experimented with concealer and then grinned and booped the girl on the nose.
"Matter of fact, I do," she replied, clearly relishing the chance to detail just how much of a sun addict she was. "I go surfing just about every weekend I can manage. Or I'm out skateboarding when I can't hop a flight out to catch some waves. And then there's walking Sanskrit since he's a little too timid to enjoy skateparks. And I go jogging sometimes. I do use sunscreen, but I still get a bit of color regardless."
As Mystery puzzled out the proper color, Arilee continued to hold still and only her sunset eyes moved to track Carolynn as her second favorite subject came up.
"Uhh... hip is waves, hibiscus flowers and a surfboard. Left shoulder slash upper arm is a space pirate chick, swallows, stars and music notes with a banner with my mom's name on it," she began to rattle off in a thoughtful voice, hands flickering to point to various tattoos as she spoke. "Right shoulder is a girly skull, dripping heart, rainbows with clouds and stars. Umm.. got a tiny heart at the upper curve of the right breast."
She narrowed her eyes, clearly tallying up and not wanting to forget anything.
"Also got some stars along my right side trailing onto my back. That's about it for now, though I'll probably go get more done at some point. I love ink."
Her eyes took on a bit of dreamy, far-away as she considered other tattoos she could get. Maybe a viking. Vikings were always cool. LizzyMoo I think blue has a tattoo ref for Ari that shows the full hip tat if you think you might need it? o:

(Art's all done already... just working on the RP to get the art delivered heart )
Mystery didn't seem to take any issue with half-naked people apparently. In fact she pretty much skipped over the subject in total. She was still too busy trying to figure out what was off on the coloration. "It's kind of hard to tell on you about the sun-or-not-skin... sometimes people who get sun don't do a good job of getting overall coloration... so their faces might be darker than their chest." The child's lips scrunched up a bit again as she tapped her own chin with a pinky. When all else failed, one more tactic would work.
"Mom..... is this color right?"
The pale haired woman smiled from the sidelines, then picked up the bottle she had pulled out before (and a new clea makeup sponge), stepped up next to her daughter, then handed it off. "Try that one, sweety!" Having offered the requested help, Carolynn went back to observation.
The child notably perked up quite a bit, and soon enough Arilee's face was being painted in concealer, giving her skin one even color. As she worked, the child's tongue occasionally stuck out from the corners of her mouth. Mom had always described putting makeup on as painting a masterpiece, so it took some concentration!
As her child worked, Carolynn continued to indulge herself in conversation. "I have heard that once you get one tattoo, you may as well call yourself an addict, because you are more than likely going to get several more. You seem to have quite a wide variety! I'm sure I'll get to see more of them later." A sort of calculating smile seemed to spread across the woman's painted lips. "Would you be opposed to doing your photoshoot in a retro swimsuit, Arilee? It would offer more room to show off the tattoos you have... not completely, but more so than a dress might. Seems like a surfer might enjoy something like that!"
The child seemed to have finished up with her concealer work, patting a couple areas very delicately. "Blush, then eyebrows, then eye stuff..." she murmured, as if marking a mental checklist.

Holding as still as possible to makes things as easy as she could for Mystery, Arilee smiled, barely managing to remember to not nod at the moment.
"That's surely the truth, at least in my case, ma'am," she replied. "I got my first one when I was about 15. Artist shouldn't have done it with as young as I was but well. I'm afraid I've always been a bit of a wild child."
This last was said with an odd tone of wistful pride. After all, she was careful to make sure she never hurt anyone in her revels. So really, there was no harm in her living life to the absolute fullest possible. She would have said more, but Carolynn got the jump on her and she perked up and brightened visably.
"That sounds perfect to me! I've always been more comfortable in bathing suits and the like than I have in dresses," she laughed a bit at herself. Sure, she wore dresses or skirts sometimes, but still.

Mystery glanced to her mom, then to Arilee once more. She felt a bit odd about interrupting what seemed like a good conversation, but she knew she couldn't just stay silent. Whether the current client realized it or not, there was actually a time restraint on both her mother when shooting and herself when working on the makeup. She eventually just hopped off the stool and soon enough was taking a look through the blush colors.
"Mystery has been called such a thing before, but I suspect that more has to do with our last names than with her being all that wild." A gentle laugh. "You also wouldn't be the first person I heard of who got tattoos that young. I've heard it a dozen times at least. Easiest way to pull it off from what I have heard is claiming it is the 18th birthday and that whichever friend of yours decided to 'surprise you' with a tattoo birthday present. No ID, but the artists usually are okay with doing it."
As the child moved back to her stool with blush and a large brush, she received a look from her mother. It was a silent warning that her child wasn't allowed to take these mentioned suggestions about tattoos.
"Arilee, could you please pucker?" she asked as she dusted some of the rose color onto the brush. She casually blew on the brush hairs.

"Something like that, yeah," Arilee laughed. "And you're probably right. People seem to enjoy making puns on names. Can't imagine why."
Continuing to face directly in front of her, puckering up when Mystery asked. Already this was more makeup than she'd bothered with in years.

Once Arilee's cheeks were puckered in, the child began to dust them with the rosy color. "Okay, now smile!" As if to show by example, Mystery pointed to her own face with the brush before smiling big for her current volunteer.
Once the blonde had done as requested, the child continued to dust her cheeks with in rose powder. As if to try and make sure she was a part of the conversation, the child mentioned "I think I want an Egyptian tattoo if anything... not sure what yet. Maybe something with one of the gods?"
Carolynn chuckled slightly. "You and your Egyptian stuff, Mystery! Just remember you can't go behind my back to get any tattoos, okay, young lady!"
"I knoooooow!" The bright eyed child had hopped off her stool once more and set the blush and brush down before snatching up an eyebrow pencil and resuming her previous position. "Arileeeeeeee....? Are you familiar with any of the Egyptian gods? They are pretty niftricular*!" With the prompt, she started to work on lining the girl's eyebrows in a bit.

Smiling was easy. Trying to keep from smiling at Mystery was a bit harder. And trying to hold in the sneeze that was building, even harder. Bugger.
Holding up a hand, she leaned back a little and sneezed into her elbow before grinning apologetically.
"Sorry. Always seems to happen at the worst times! I didn't mess up your work too bad, did I?" she asked the child anxiously. She'd tried to be careful, but who knew.
"As for the Egyptian gods, I'm afraid that most of what I know is the very basic stuff combined with what I get out of a few young adult novels. So I really don't know how accurate it is."

The child titled her head, then squinted her eyes as she tried to deem whether or not her makeup work had been ruined or not.
"...I think I just need to add a little more blush..." She didn't even seem to wait for permission and just lashed out with her brush, dusting the cheeks again for good measure.
It didn't take too long for the child to hop off her stool again so she could drop off her brush and blush before picking up a small pair of scissors and a couple false eyelashes. She hopped up in front of Arilee and held out an eyelash.
"That's okay... not everyone is familiar... I just like checking to see if anybody else can teach me more!" She moved with the little pair of scissors and soon enough snipped at the eyelash she had been holding quite close to the blonde's face.
"Have you ever worn falsies before?" the child chirped before backing away enough so Arilee wouldn't accuse her of nearly poking her eye out.
