i think alomst eveonw here agress the major is alteast bi, but both of Shirows mangas show some 'sex' betwwen her and another woman and i think in the tv series there are some fauge shoots of her liking guys but its nearly hard to tell which way she more leans to. i have the first novel of GTS and i think there is a part in there of a likeing toward men, as well as the first manga. the 3rd GTS manga might give more detail to this very question
also does anyone have a preference to Inton Depot. i have the 3rd in the series but lookin at gettin another one. jsut didnt know which one to get

mono_chroma Yeah, I wish they had gone into the past of the Major and those girls. The series just kinda leaves us hanging. sad But, do you guys have any evidence that she's straight at all? Apart from her boyfriend in the manga, and that thing at the end of the first gig with Batou. I have seen most eps of the second gig, but very few of the first, so I don't really know. *spoiler* I know I am kinda jumping in the middle of this discussion but i know at least in the anime (2nd GIG) in episode "Affection" she tells the old woman that the girl (the major) was looking for the first boy she loved so that is some evidence

As far as I'm concerned, Motoko's bisexual, though closer to straight in SAC. While we do see her with her 'girlfriends' in bed in one SAC ep (1st GiG, I forget which), we see much more of her straight side, between Kuze and all her random flirtation with Batou (the scene where she makes him punch himself in the neck...the scene in the second-to-last episode of 1st GIG with her nearly naked and leading him off-camera...)

the major is most definately bisexual because although she loves/loved kuze, there are also the female figures that appear in sac. this is the quote from memory so it may be a little off:
(they are in a hospital at mid-day)
Girlfriend?: motoko you scared me...
major: youre the one who called me.
Girlfriend?: im sorry im just not used to seeing you so early
to me that almost seems to hint at something and there was also in an earlier ep. it shows her at the womans home and the woman is only wearing an apron. to me that seems a little moe than friendly behavior...

even in the animes (season one - laughing man case) when she goes over to her friend to watch those archives of the news, the whole scenery is leading to some kind of lesbian presumptions.
there she is in that superb top appartment, drinking fancy liquors with a girl friend on a round bed...
I wouldn't drink alcoholic liquors near a round bed with views of the city, with a girl friend in light clothing if I hadn't any kinda of intimate plan on my mind.
And it's not because they are not doing anything that shows that Motoko is not into girls.
The clues are there but hidden, in the true japanese art of doing things - subtile. heart

I do believe she's bisexual. Manga scans in the first post are some proof. I actually have those (in english) sweatdrop I didn't see the Parental advisory sticker. She likes Kuze, And when she's getting a body swap, she asks her friend to be the witness. The same friend says that the customizations make her hot just to think about it. O_o;

I hope she's bi because I am, and she is hot! lol You'vs shown some prime examples of why she would be, as well. Although it's difficult to tell if it's Shirow's personal preferences, or the Major's.
