He gazed out at the landscape ahead of them. Fantasy.. Uten actually envied that the cub believed his parents were only sleeping for a little bit. Until he had to tell him and break his heart. "I could related to him.. I'm an orphan too.. I just remember waking up in a tree one day. I don't know if my parents just left me there because they didn't want me or if they died.."

He had pretty much guessed it was a mix of the two.

Come now Uten, he thought. Don't dump your life story on this poor lioness.

..Right.

"I don't think I'll ever really settle down anywhere.. I like to travel too much."

He paused.

"That and I'm worried that I'll end up staying in someone's territory and they'll attack me." A little paranoid? Maybe.

In a tree....?

Leboya looked towards him and frowned a bit.

"I can think of only one reason a lioness would put their child up in a tree...." she said, thinking aloud. "And that's because it's the safest place for them." Looking towards Uten, she explained;

"There's a good chance, that your mother was attacked, and out of instinct, put you out of reach of whatever it was that was after her. It's something leopards do, see? They put things that are important in high places where other predators can't get to them."

She quickly shook the hypothesis off, before nodding firmly.

"Well, the life of a traveller is one that would work well for most, but I fear that I myself wouldn't be able to tend for my children, which I hope to have someday, if I weren't in the saftey of a pride."

She then laughed.

"And I would say that most prides I've met aren't territorial either."

For a minute, Uten just stared out in front of him again, not saying a word. Was that what she did? Did she want to protect him? Well, it's safe to say that Uten didn't understand the concept of a mother giving her life to save her cub back then.. He was too young... He was in that tree for a few days before that Goddess came along and interested him far more then the tree did..

"Yeah. That's probably why she did it..."

He looked back to her. "I could see you being a mother. I bet those would be some trippy looking cubs. I don't think I'll ever have cubs." Of course you won't Uten, you're a freak who doesn't like girls, remember? He highly doubted that a male would be able to have cubs with another male.

..But even moreso, he doubt there would even be another male like him.

"Really? That isn't what the wild dogs taught me when I was a cub.. They said that lions were just killers.. That they killed off tons of wild dogs for land and for.. For fun." Now that was making him mad. It's safe to say Uten's feelings about lions weren't totally gone.

Leboya shook her head. "No. Lions act as any other creature does. Perhaps there are SOME lions who kill for fun, but as well, there are Wild Dogs, Hyenas, Leopards, and Cheetahs whom we can say do the same thing. Perhaps we all speak from the point of view we have seen, but in the same way..."

The jelly lioness shook her head. No. That wasn't it...

"We all hate each other because we're different, and we haven't seen how we all act." Raising a paw, the lioness waved it about the air.

"Someone.. needs to make a pride.. or a pack.. or a cooallition.. or..."

She had to think about it... no..

"A community... of all the species of africa, where all are equals, nobody is better then anybody else, nobody hurts anybody else, and everybody is the same on the level deeper then genetics.."

She looked to Uten.

"That's all that seperated the felines, the canines, the avians, the reptiles, and the equine here.... our genetics. Is it fair for all of us to be labelled 'murderous' because we just so happened to be born a certain species?"

Different..

We're different..

Those words just stuck out in Uten's mind. It was true, all the different species were different.

But.. Now that he thought about it.. It didn't feel like they were different.

He thought back to his time with the wild dogs way back when. The treated him like he was one of them. And he felt like he was one of them, too.

They weren't different. Just because they looked like they were, didn't mean that deep down, everyone wasn't part of the same family.

And suddenly.. He knew.

"That's what I have to do. That's it. I need to find a way to bring peace to all the animals. That's what my destiny is."

Leboya paused in the middle of her 'reform the world' speech, before looking to Uten, blinking. Oh dear, she'd just created a revolutionary figure with her words. That... probably was actually kinda cool.

The lioness smiled as Uten declared his self-given destiny, nodding. "Yes.. if that's what you wish to do, then it is your destiny. And I do hope that the goddess of Peace smiles down upon you, Utengemano. In fact, I'm sure she will.

And I myself wish you luck with this world-changing reform your planning." she added encouragingly onto the end of her statement, butting his shoulder lightly with the top of her head and laughing.

"I do not believe in cooincidence, Uten... it was destiny as well that fated our meeting, was it not?"

Yes.

"Thank you, Leboya." He smiled warmly at her. This was it. He was a changed lion. No longer would he think badly of others, what ever species they may be. No matter how they act towards him.

"This definitely was fated. Now I finally know what to make of my life." He stood, the smile never once leaving his face. "I'm sure we'll meet again sometime soon. And I'll make you a flower crown as my sort of way of thanking you again." He laughed.

"Good bye, Leboya. This truely was a life changing encounter." And with that, he stepped out into sun, his path illuminated before him. It was a symbol, he thought as he walked along to meet up with his two friends. He left the darkness of predjudice behind and continued onward into a life of enlightenment.

Today was going to be a beautiful day.
