Marius flew through the cool air trying to keep the scent of the girl, but it was hard. Finally he saw ahead an apartment complex ahead and the young girl on her motorcycle. Deciding not to raise questions from his appearance, Marius decided to change form before he got to her. Marius raced along the side of the building and changed back to his human form. He heard something drop behind him and quickly turned around braced for combat. Behind him was a small little girl in a pink and white dress with brown hair and a white hat that had just dropped her teddy bear. Oh yeah he, thought to his self, I forgot to check to see if any one was around. Laughing, he walked around the corner to meet the young girl. “Who was your brother?” Marius asked with his usual grin plated to his face.

The night had been a cold and bitter one. The wet streets held shadows that seemed to eerily move with the swaying of the faint streetlights that were not yet broken. Everyone was inside because none dared to come out as long as the gangs roamed. Several rival gangs controlled the small city at night and harrassed civilians. The luckier ones were raped or beaten instead of killed or tortured. In the midst of the cold and odd silent darkness, a man walked down the street. The light thump of his black boots made way on the concrete of the void and cleared street as the wind picked up. As he neared another unbroken street light, a faint form could be made out. Long black hair remained halfway to his midback and lay lifelessly as his unnatural eyes peered out and cut through the heavy darkness. The man was merely passing by here much like he usually did with several other cities and small hamlets.

Marius grin dropped when he turned the corner. A different woman stood there starting up her bike. Her black hair, baseball bat, and green eyes shimmered in the gray sun.

“What do you want?” she demanded frowning at the sight of Marius. “Nothing.” He turned and left. Sun was setting and Marius loved the thought of it. The dark was his world where he ruled no matter what dangers laid in the dark. Marius waited till the sun dropped leaving it’s mark, the moon in its silver glory. Marius’s body began to turn black then took on a smoke like quality and finally released his shadow form.

Marius raced through cold air as the black cloud he was. He was the omen of ill news to those that knew him and he loved it. In the midst of flying a sharp pain revealed itself in his conscious. Something heralded him to stop and observe. Deciding that an empty street was best location to take human form, the dark cloud lowered itself. Marius found the street way dark and void of life. The dark cloud began to take its effigy of the human Marius. Like a black bats pouring into a cave thus did the black cloud pour into the form he wished. However the street was void of life, it was not void of people or persons. A man with black hair, red eyes, and pointed ears walked down the street ominous and dark. Marius you are a mistaken old fool, he thought to himself, this is no man. Marius turned back into his shadow form to hide far behind the man as darkness itself and to peer with yellow eyes to understand how a man who did not wish to herald him did so like an one of Marius’s own kind could have. We shall see what secrets this one possesses, Marius thought.

The strange man dressed in black robe-like clothing had continued to walk as something caught his attention. It seemed like the shadows themself moved with a odd reasoning as he continued his trek down the long street. His hightened senses felt something much like a dark presence. He had felt feelings like this several times within his travelling and never took too much concerned pertaining to them. Yet this one seemed.......different. As if it commanded a sort of respect. A shame that Rej held respect over nothing.

Not only had it looked as if the shadows formed into a humanoid figure right infront of his excellent eyes, but the figure disappeared as fast as it had formed into being. Rej continued to walk to the end of the abnormally long avenue whilst his katana remained safely by his side.

:.Strange things are afoot.:

Rej thought quietly and calmly to himself within his wrecked and corrupted mind.

:.Tis a shame that the strange things have chosen such a horrible being to harrass.:

Anger. That is what Marius smelled on the black figure. Why would it be angry? he asked himself. It doesn’t want to be followed he answered himself. But we did not summon ourselves here, he did. Methinks that he wasn’t aware. The black cloud stayed back discussing with its self in thought. Marius thought for some time about the black figure and tried to make out what was going on. He wasn’t human, that much was obvious. However, Marius still pondered about what he was. If he summoned Marius, than that would mean that he was either a creature of immense power or a very old one, or both. Well, he said to himself, lets try the oldest weapon in our book shall we. The black cloud assumed its human effigy once more and walk through the darkness and into the light where the being would be able see him.

Rej's right eyebrow slightly rose as the figure had once again assembled itself from the darkness. Rej did not take too much consideration in this but he did however stopshortly before the humanoid figure. The only type of human that could do something such as this would be a powerful mage and yet Rej would be able to tell the difference between a human of any kind.....and something else. This bizarre creature who had randomly manifested itself before Rej was a curiosity. Rej however, did not care much for the creature, however "Bizare" it was.

Rej was not much for words. His race never did speak much unless there was a need to but then again, most of his race had been destroyed by an evil incarnate so they were at the moment, irrelevant. Besides, Rej never followed the pack and his characteristics did difer slightly from other Archaics. Knowing full well that this creature would most likely not know his toungue, he began his calm and condescending speech. His accent was cool and direct and held a sense of leadership and a aura of power to it as he spoke the Ancient words.

"MEa'st E HeSa'Sa' Ea'?"

The words sounded like a question and his voice resembled that of some heroic figurine but he was far from one for several reasons.

They were all words to Marius. It was an old language and that was all that he could tell. However he felt a since of power in the words, as if they pertained to something of his race. He shivered to think of what this race could be. He felt that, judging that this was the first of his kind that Marius had ever met, there were three possibilities about his race: One is that they are in hiding for some unknown reason, two is that they are just rare like Marius’s race, three is that something bad had happened to his race, and four is that there is any mixture of the three. Marius decided that he must answer quickly to avoid giving too much away about Marius’s position. “I know not what you say sir but I wish to know what you are and perhaps a name to put to a face.” Marius requested with his unshakable grin plated on his pale face praying for an answer.

The dark figure that went by the name of Rej stood there as the streetlight he stood directly under him began to flicker and then quickly die out. Now the figure was bathed in darkness and the only detail that could be clearly made was the unwavering glance of the odd red eyes. The a understandable voice broke the silence.

"Names are of little importance......"

There was a short pause before continuing.

"Yet, if you need a title for me to go by, Rej would fit it most appropriately."

The accent and voice still held the same sound as it did when the other weird language had been spoken but the common toungue seemed much less intimidating or powerful. Then the figure spoke again.

"My race is one of dwindling value."

Marius’s grin got larger when the light went out. Marius stood prepared incase this one chose the path less traveled. Rej, he thought, hmm… how strange. He didn’t recall any vision of a race of this exact specifications but he knew that this one… man or what one would call him, was of significant importance. His attitude dictated one who had lost much or gotten rid of much. “What was your race then?” Marius said with glowing yellow eyes that pierced the darkness.

"Your interest seems palpable atleast"

Rej said as he shifted in the darkness and began to move to the right. Most of the lights were out and the street had been doused in a relative darkened state.

"Archaic"

The word came out as a single powerful wisp of pronunciation. The name of Rej's race was that of significant quality. The first to lay foot and soil the earth as The Creator had so graciously made for them.

"You yourself?"

Rej said questioning the mans race and name in a calm unnerving voice. He continued to move until he stopped on the other side of the street and stared directly across at the other figure.

Marius chuckled.

“Oh, mine. Mine is of no importance pertaining to the current situation”

Marius began to pace back and forth always-making eye contact with this, Rej.

“My problem with you is thusly. My race, or what you can call it, is not of this world nor is it easy to get to this world. I am not currently in possession of the knowledge that would explain my existence on this dirt ball to begin with but you, you are of some importance.”

Marius stopped pacing and looked at Rej now with a sideward glance and straightened up.

“You see, I was traveling through the air like I normally would until your… presence or what have you, stopped my flight and made me land, as if to obey a calling. What I would like to know is did you mean to or did you, what I suspect, didn’t intend to? Also, of course, to where are you heading?”

This time Rej was the one to allow a small smile to graze the lips of his visage. Normally impassive and lacking any sort of emotion, this.....humanoid was somewhat familiar at best. Therefore, caused Rej to somewhat, recollect his ancient memories. In the long life that Rej had lived, he felt that he had been around one or two of these creatures before. Nonetheless, he gazed towards the questioning man as he spoke concerning the mans latest question.

"I have heard this alot. Whether it be some sort of command aura i present or just a coincident that others speak of what you now say, I never intended on luring someone."

Rej stopped for a second before speaking again.

"As for where i am travelling towards.........it concerns you not."

The last part was phrased bluntly yet still quite direct. Rej's accent was different from humans but still ever so clear, perhaps even more so. It also held a sort of Charm and dashing that Rej himself did not personally care to have.

Marius felt glint of satisfaction coming from Rej. Nonetheless, there was no choice for Marius in this matter.

“I’m sorry to ask you,” Marius’s grin still plated to his face, “but I figured that I might need to know since I will be following-.”

Laughter and the sound of motorbikes came down the street along with the presence of light, which Marius did not enjoy. Marius teleported where they were to gain a closer look of course staying in the darkness he was accustomed to.

Ugh, Marius thought, more outlaws, this time not the organized kind. There was around eleven of them, dressed in leather trench coats with weapons, blue jeans, and black shirts. As much as he didn’t mind gangs on the street his other half did. That demonic voice spoke in his head trying to convince him again.

“Kill them Marius. There life is a cancer but this cancer is weak and curable.”

Marius didn’t listen to him. He had long since had this burden since Germany’s problems with Rome and the day that he was awakened. As much as he didn’t like his other self, he might have agreed with him about the bikers. The bikers were carrying a young female, and as much as he didn’t care about crime he had a sense of moral value and if they began to rape, then Marius would intervene.

This is a chance, Marius thought to himself, to see what this Rej is capable of.
Marius turned into his wraith form and flew at the bikers to lead them toward Rej. There was a chance that they would leave him alone, but these were thugs who would rape and mug any who they saw. They went toward Rej as he planned, so Marius followed to watch.

:.How convenient.:

Rej thought sarcastically to himself. He seen the man to into a matter of darkness and deliberately lead the bikers towards his location. It didnt matter to Rej who they were carrying and he did not care to prove himself or help this figure that had been questioning him. As the bikers got closer, the saw Rej on the side of the road and stopped abrubtly. Their bikes making clicking and whirring sounds as the engines died down slightly and their foots, as if in sync, jammed to the ground to keep themselves stabalized.

"Look what we have er'e" Said one of the bikers in a british accent.

"Seems to me like another punk dressed in black." Another said in a grimy and dirty sound.

"I think we should teach him who runs the roads at night boys." A larger one replied. This one was obviously the leader if any were avalaible for the ragtag group of bikers.

The girl screamed but was quickly silenced by a punch to the face. He nose began to bleed and tears continued from her eyes as the one carrying her whispered something into her ear that Rej could not make out.

"Ey, He even has dem contact lense things that change your eye color."

:.Ignorance is far from bliss.:

Rej thought to himself as the bikers continued to talk. Without warning, one biker revved up his bike and tore off towards Rej.

:.Far from bliss.:

Rej repeated in his mind as he sidestepped the bike and brought his left arm out. The arm connected with the bikers neck as he clumsily flipped off his motorized machine and slammed into the ground. Groaning came from his generally direction as two more stepped off their bikes and pulled out matching chains. They were very similar save for one had a patch over his eye.

"Lets get em Killer!"

The one with the eye patch exclaimed excitingly. There was doubt in both of these men....Rej could feel it. Despite this, one charged his and swung the chain in a brutal and relentless arc towards Rej's face. The chain stopped short from Rej's face and the assaulting man looked down his chain to see a hand clenching onto the makeshift weapon. Then he traced the arm to the red intimidating eyes that glanced at him as if he were a worm.

"Ey....he....he caught my weapon!"

The ignorant fool cried out. The other one who still had doubt pouring from his being had so graciously stepped forth to try his luck. As he swung his chain, it wielded same results. Rej's right hand shot out and grabbed the chain before it reached his neck. As of now, Rej held both of the chains in each hand the the two bikers stood there holding their ends. Then without explaination, Rej crossed over the chains and tied them together tightly. The steel began to bend and knot viciously as the chains began one unrepairable mess.

By this time, the other bikers began to peel out with woman in tow. The three bikers who has assaulted Rej, including the one on the ground that he had closelined, ran for there bikes and sped off. As the biker with the woman began to turn and leave, Rej whipped back the now lengthened chain and cracked it forward. The clinking of the linked metal whissed through the air and struck the biker in the back of the head, killing him instantly. The girl fell off the bike and rolled onto the ground unconscious.

"Had your fill yet?"

Rej said with his general tone that seemed to lack any feeling thereof. His comment was directed at the darkness where the man was residing in. Rej was not one to enjoy trials of sorts and while he was in no particular hurry to get where he was going, he felt this petty confrontation was one that did not deserve his time. Once again his condecending and arrogant attitude sprouted forth lightly.

Marius had watched Rej dispatch the one and gotten rid of the others and now seemed somewhat irritated by Marius’s choice of observation, however, it wasn’t that much irritation, the seemed to lack much emotion. He wondered why Rej decided to kill the one on the bike, but he doubted that if he were to ask Rej he would get the correct answer. Marius let the shadow around his body that would normally hide his true form drift back into the shape of long trailing wings revealing a man made from shadow with bright yellow eyes and sharp blades protruding out of his arms, back, and small ones on his head in a horn like fashion giving him a demonic look. After he had let Rej have a look at what he was he quickly turned back into his human effigy. Grin still plated, Marius spoke.

“ Now you have some idea as to what I am. As to a name of what I am, I have no idea I simply call my self a wraith. I realize that that was a poor attempt at trying to see what you were capable of. I doubt seriously that that is all you are capable of, but never loose a chance at knowledge I have always said. At least I know you are wise enough to not use your full power when it is not needed. Now like I was saying I will unfortunately have to follow you for interest and for the fact that you have summoned me, however unwillingly. That is why I asked where you were heading. I know that that is an irritation for your type of attitude but nonetheless; I don’t believe I have a choice.” His other half began to plead for blood once more.

Kill him Marius. This man is a threat to your true potential. He would try to prevent you from unlocking; he would try to kill you. STRIKE HIM DOWN! SPILL HIS BLOOD AND SHOW HIM WHAT DARKNESS REALLY IS!

Marius ignored his other half as much as he could to prevent him showing what he had. Now he merely awaited Rej’s answer.
