Krishna_Metsuri So I found this posted by someone on a site I frequently visit: "This was an actual letter sent out by the St. Mary's Church. If Your Child is a Gothic, Reform Through the Lord! Listed below are some warning signs to indicate if your child may have gone astray from the Lord. Gothic (or goth) is a very obscure and often dangerous culture that young teenagers are prone to participating in. The gothic culture leads young, susceptible minds into an imagined world of evil, darkness, and violence. Please seek immediate attention through counselling, prayer, and parental guidance to rid your child of Satan's temptations if five or more of the following are applicable to your child: -Frequently wears black clothing. -Wears band and/or rock t-shirts. -Wears excessive black eye makeup, lipstick or nailpolish. -Wears any odd, silver jewelry or symbols. Some of these include: reversed crosses, pentagrams, pentacles, ankhs or various other Satanic worshipping symbols. -Shows an interest in piercings or tattoos. -Listens to gothic or any other anti-social genres of music. (Marilyn Manson claims to be the anti-Christ, and publicly speaks against the Lord. Please discard any such albums IMMEDIATELY.) -Associates with other people that dress, act or speak eccentrically. -Shows a declining interest in wholesome activities, such as: the Bible, prayer, church or sports. -Shows an increasing interest in death, vampires, magic, the occult, witchcraft or anything else that involves Satan. -Takes drugs. -Drinks alcohol. -Is suicidal and/or depressed. -Cuts, burns or partakes in any other method of self-mutilation. (This is a Satanic ritual that uses pain to detract from the light of God and His love. Please seek immediate attention for this at your local mental health center.) -Complains of boredom. -Sleeps too excessively or too little. -Is excessively awake during the night. -Dislikes sunlight or any other form of light. (This pertains to vampires promoting the idea that His light is of no use.) -Demands an unusual amount of privacy. -Spends large amounts of time alone. -Requests time alone and quietness. (This is so that your chid may speak to evil sprits through meditation.) -Insists on spending time with friends while unaccompanied by an adult. -Disregards authority figures; teachers, priests, nuns and elders are but a few examples of this. -Misbehaves at school. -Misbehaves at home. -Eats excessively or too little. -Eats goth-related foods. Count Dracula cereal is an example of this. -Drinks blood or expresses an interest in drinking blood. (Vampires believe this is how to attain Satan. This act is very dangerous and should be stopped immediately.) -Watches cable television or any other corrupted media sources. (Ask your local church for proper programs that your child may watch.) -Plays videos games that contains violence or role-playing nature. -Uses the internet excessively and frequently makes time for the computer. -Makes Satanic symbols and/or violently shakes head to music. -Dances to music in a provocative or sexual manner. -Is homosexual and/or bisexual. -Pursues dangerous cult religions. Such include: Satanism, Scientology, Philosophy, Paganism, Wicca, Hinduism and Buddhism. -Wears pins, stickers or anything else that contains these various phrases: "I'm so gothic, I'm dead", "woe is me", "I'm a goth". -Claims to be a goth. If five or more of these apply to your child, please intervene immediately. The gothic culture is dangerous and Satan thrives within it. If any of these problems persist, enlist your child into your local mental health center. ~St. Mary's Catholic Church I was staying at a friend's house when some one sent her this. She read it and we got a good laugh out of it. According to this we're both goth as is her father and my mother and sister. The more I thought about it though, the more pissed off I became. This just shows the ignorance and arrogance that some Christians have. I'd like to see other people's opinions on this." From this letter you would think everyone is gothic!!! What are your thoughts on this most absurd letter??? pirate ARRGH, The Cap'n This whole this is not only wrong, and essentially calls nearly everyone in the World "driven to Satan and must be saved" but it blatantly disrespects reliogions and activities that people participate in all around the world. Its again another case of a Church thinking it knows whats best for the world with disregard that they are not all powerful, always-right beings. Besides, if "God" doesnt want kids to do this stuff, LET HIM TELL THEM HIMSELF!! Shut the hell up and stop thinking you know what is best for everyone. Besides that letter shows how ignorant churches are (churches often show blatant misconceptions like goths as being followers of the devil and the pentagram being an evil symbol (its wiccan/pagan, not satanic,and neither worshippp the devil, they worship earth forces and nature, duh..)). The church needs to stop trying to convert evryone and thinking it knows everything with blatant disregard for obviously harmless things like Buddhism (what dumb person thought that was satanic??) and being quiet and left alone( yes, everytime i decide to "hide" in my room im sacrificing a cat and praying to satan, wow, forget about that i say Im doing my homework or playing on the computer, your smart, oh, and I go on the internet evry day so I must be evil? You definately know me...) Ok, i wear band shirts, I must be evil. I wear black, yep im evil. I like peircings and tatoos, oh yes im going to the dark side. I play violent video games, must mean Im evil and now want to commit mass murder. Im depressed, oooh, forget that I cant control it and its a psychological condition, guess im evil. I take benadryl, welll thats a drug so i must be satan's child. Im bored, oh, im evil, wow, im soo evil, perhaps ill go kill some people now...I headbang, i must be evil, i listen to metal, oh, must be evil, i like budhhism, oh, im definately evil...I go to my friends house alone all the time, oh, PHEER MY EVILNESS!!I dont want to talk to you and i want to be left alone, oh boy, forget I just dont like you or you annoy me or that Im a regular teenager, i must be extremely evil... According to this im destined to become a satanist and im going to murder and sacrifice animals and lead a life of pure evil. Hmm...also, according to this Ghandi was pure evil, so was George Washington, and of course, Buddha, a peace-seeker, was the most evil of all because he was a buddhist (duh), meditated, and ate little food (the real buddha was not as round as todays figurehead)Oh, and by the way i have 28 or 29 out of the 36, so thus, Im extremely evil and the devil is my best buddy...right..Wow, you churches,This is just rediculous...

After seeing that, and finding the website for that Church, I have seriously been contemplating starting a letter-war with them. I want to write them a letter that contradicts everything they've said in that, in a logical way, and hurts their creditability. If I go about it the right way, I can actually make them have no way to really tell me I'm wrong. Logic beats everything, even in the Pagan religions.
Because, first of all, if you are wearing a band t-shirt, maybe you are a fan of that band.
Ahnk's are a symbol from Egypt, of life.
Black is a shade that goes with literally every other color.
Black nailpolish could just mean Guitarist.
Likewise, the black eye-make-up could be an expression of individuality, and shouldn't be looked down on.
Lots of people like tattoo's, and piercings; me included. The different ways to pierce yourself show many different ways of individuality.
And just because Marylin Manson claims to be the Anti-Christ, doesn't mean listening to his music makes you a Satanist; I listen to it, and I'm simply Pagan.
Second of all, anyone who mutalates themself is mentally unsound and should be taken to a psychiatrist or a mental hospital. This is common sense, and the cutting usually has to do with depression, not Satanism! I would know, I used to cut up my chest and arms with scratches on a regular basis when I was younger. (I don't do it anymore, though. It's distasteful for a Lolita to be covered in scratches and cuts...) It was out of depression, not a desire to detract from God. X.O
Everyone gets bored. Everyone complains. Its better they sit there and complain, than go out and get into trouble because "I was bored."
I sleep in extreme's. I either get too much, or too little. Its not uncommon. Insomnia can be treated with something like Valium, though I don't reccomend it. Try some Chamomile Tea, if you can't sleep.
Some people are secretive and private by nature, and some people just like to have time alone to think about things, and figure stuff out. None of that has to do with Satan, because there is NO actual Satan. (In fact, from what I've learned, looking into Satanism, is that the Satanist themselves often don't even worship Satan, choosing only to honor the Human charactaristics that the Christians gave to it. There is no Satan, because the Christians created him to scare people into believing.)
And if your child is misbehaving, try spending time with them, asking them whats the matter, and treating them differently, maybe more like a friend than "Your my kid, you shouldn't try to be my friend." You'd be surprised what having your mother be your best friend all your life can do for a person. <3
Eating too little or not at all could be a sign of Anorexia or Bulemia, and you should take them to a doctor to get that checked out. If they are refusing to eat, or eating then throwing up, someone should educate them on the fact that this is wrong.
What the hell is a "Goth Related Food"? Thats the stupidest one of all.

Vampires don't usually believe in Heaven or Hell. They don't believe drinking Blood will bring them closer to Satan.
They drink blood because its their only way to survive. Especially the younger ones. They have to drink blood to live.
Another thing: there is nothing wrong with Cable Television, except that I find nothing there to interest me.
On top of that, there is nothing wrong with having an imagination and playing an RPG.
I use the computer every day. There is nothing wrong with checking email, your favorite forum, or a joke site or two.

While I'll admit there's a choice to it, the only choice is to accept it and live with it, or to ignore it, and pretend its not real. I didn't choose to fall in love with girls until I met Jade! I didn't even choose to fall in love with Jade! It just happened, and I chose to accept it, and live happily with myself.
Hinduism and Buddhism are dangerous? First of all, Buddhists are pasifists, last time I checked, so if your kid's a Buddhist, you should be proud of them for not wanting to hurt people.
There is nothing wrong with beng a Goth. Goths, while I'll admit most teeny-boppers and Rich Kids will adopt it to fit when they get depressed (teeny-goths), are not generally violent or harmful people. Once in a while you get a Goth who's just really angry and wants people to ******** off and die, but there are a lot of non-goths who feel the same way. My mom included.

The thing is though even if they are told something is not evil they wont believe it. Last summer, I went through something which one might want to call hilarious yet angering. I dont know what possessed me to do this but I decided to spend the summer in Florida with my father. His new wife's parents came over to visit the grandchildren, problem: they brought a friend. Now I have never been one to dislike a religion I feel what is best for you is what you should be. You see these people are those born- again- biker- Christians. So, what happened was Im in the room with Brittany(the stepdaughter) and they come in to greet her, ya know all normal. You see I was sitting playing the old Nintendo the console where Yoshi's Island came out on, where you have to carry baby mario on your back and save Luigi, but I digress. So, Im playing this game and listening to Incubus and the Grandfather asks me
-"So, What're you listening to???"
--"Incubus' Megalomaniac, theyre a really great band and they've got a great message in this song."
--"Whats that word the singer is saying before the lords name."
-"Um, the F word why???Does that matter the song has a good message..."
--"One drop of poison in a cup makes the whole cup undrinkable,and that word is the poison, What are they called again???"
-"Um Incubus, Why does it matter what he says as long as the message gets across???"
--"Do you know what an Incubus is???"
-"Yeah...Its just a title it doesnt mean anyting they said so themselves."
--"If it doesnt mean anything why use that word???"

Next thing ya know the friend walks in...and I had left my neo pagan books out instead of putting them away to avoid hassle because me being the prideful person I am, I do not hide my beliefs from people. She sees my books and her fave drops, and then the grandfather asks her "Hey guess what the band shes listening to is called???"
---"What???"
-"Incubus...(((with an all knowing whatre we going to do look)))"
She then starts lecturing me about my necklace and my books and my music and how she doesnt want me blindly following the "Dark Lord" and the "Dark Spirits" and me losing my soul, of course I try defending myself just to get yelled at more so I tell her she has no idea what shes talking about blah blah blah and she says fine shell have to bring me info blah blah blah because shes studied this and knows of the evils behind it blah blah bloody blah. So, the argument ends and I ignore them and play my video game, keeping my books close, when I notice...THEY ARE BLESSING AND PRAYING OVER THE BOOMBOX...Im serious!!! Then Brittany's Granmother who stayed out of the whole thin puts on some flowery cinnamony smelling prefume and I comment "Wow that smells nice..." And there friend says "You like how that smells here have some" And she puts this foul odorous thing on my forehead in the shape of a cross no less and she was praying...I swear these people were trying to exorcise me or something OH GODDESS PROTECT ME I was thinking...After they left (((blessing my dad's wife and the house, mind you))) I called my father totally disheveled...And yes this story has a point...People are going to believe what they want to believe or have been told to believe...It didnt matter how hard I fought they wouldnt listen they were set in their ways...so as upsetting as the sterotypes are and how we're treated for it as hard as we fight some people are never going to change...Just a thought...sorry its so long... pirate

The only way around things like this is to be nice to others. Don't go crazy and yell at people 'omg, i tooodally scared them, lololol", instead just show them that people who look spooky are just.. spooky nice people. :p
Far too often I see people go against this stuff with stupidity. If we want this kinda thing to stop, you have to stop giving it power. It's the idiot mallgoth asshats that promote and further drive these things. ><
By the way, BooBerry is sooo much cooler than the Count.

w00t another altime low!!! . i am emotional right now and pseachlesss on to how total bs all of that is. black is not evil... nor is makeup or rock tshirts. damn id kill someone if they said i couldnt wear a rock t shirt. AHAHAH man that brings back memories i got that like a year ago and couldnt help but laugh cause they ALL i repeat ALL apply to me. Me and my friends got a good laugh out of it and i even sent it to my mom (shes not a freaky omg REPENT type of person shes pagan(sp?)) and she laughed and damned the church.
