But then who's going to keep Selphie from making Squall's head explode?

I have to say I didn't care for his cocky attitude, thinking he was god's gift to women. I hate people like that (I even dislike Zidane to an extent because of that). Finding out that he was really a coward, on the other hand, brought a smile to my face. All in all, I don't really care for him.

Using him in battle he isn't that bad, I guess. Using the Pulse ammo did some good damage (so did the AP ammo if I remember correctly), but the way I see it if you want to use a character that has a good limit break why not just use Squall or Zell or Quistis or Rinoa? And what happens when you run out of ammo and you're in a position where you can't get anymore? All of a sudden Irvine isn't looking so helpful. Also, again if I remember correctly, Pulse ammo was a pain to get and I always wanted to spend it on the Lionheart.

Unless you're a Irvine fan then you'll find some use for him, I suppose. Whatever that is.

I usually hate people like that too, and I'm sure if I met Irvine in real life I'd hate him, but as a character, I absolutely love him for that. Being able to tell he's actually a nice guy, the whole womanizing thing just turns amusing to me.

I had him in my party for a little while, but took him out because I would refuse to use his Limit. I don't like using items! I figured even if I like having him around, it's a waste, so I switched Rinoa back in.

People are really overlooking the best ammo in the game, which is the Fast Ammo. Not only is it easy to produce, but you can actually totally screw an enemies day with it. My earlier mentioned trick of having Irvine with high strength (Ifrit's Str Bonus ability), plus using Meltdown, and having Irvine use Fast Ammo really does work. I've tested it, and I have found that Squall equipped with Lionheart and having max strength using Lionheart, after casting Meltdown on an enemy actually does LESS (yes, I said LESS) damage than the aforementioned trick. This is due in part to the fact that the Lionheart has fixed hits, and due in part to a quick trigger finger on my part. Doing this, I have pumped out 52 hits at max damage with Irvine to Squall's 17 hits at max damage with Lionheart. I firmly believe that Square truly did not know what they wrought when they allowed for this to happen.

Is it just me or is Irvine a waste of time? No offense to those of you who like him, but I hate him. I mean, what's the point of dragging him around if I'm not going to use him?

Well, like I said, much as I love him as a character, I don't find him particularly useful in battle. Then again, VIII's characters are nearly identical except for Limit Breaks, so he can't be much more useless than anyone else?

Or do you mean storyline-wise? I think it's a bit annoying how the storyline cuts out pretty much everyone but Squall and Rinoa for really important storyline bits after a while, but again, he's no worse than anyone else.

I guess you have a point....But I mean, I just think that after the assasination attempt...He's pretty much useless in the story line

Ah, but he's the one who makes everyone remember the orphanage!
...But I guess that is the only other thing.
