(( dont you figure your spell moves in a straight line? If there are so many that they block the view, you're likely to hit one of them, and it would, I dunno, fall to the ground and lose a few tail feathers.
GM, maybe including the dice into this would be a good idea? While the birds may intercept the spell by accident, theres still a chance they wont, maybe roll a D20 and if she rolls above say... a 12, the spell is a success? Likewise if he is deaf, you cant tell if you're pronouncing the spell correctly or not))

((If expelliarmus hit a peacock it would probably be blown onto its side. Now duel, stop OOCing. Also, there are only eight tables. Two for each house. Also, I'm not sexist. I hate it when people auto hit in RPs.))

As time passed more students shuffled in through the massive stairway until the tables were all nearly full, Not liking the crowded table Derrik excused himself and went up the halls to his dormitory, saying the entrance word and walking into the commons. A few people were there talking, eating candy and one or two of the present upperclass students even studied. Derrik retrieved a book from the nearby table and found an armchair near the fire, it was much too early to fall asleep and he might as well read a little further into his book on enchantments.

Justin began eating. When he finished his meal of pork and alfredo pasta he had some ice cream and then headed to his common room. As always the eagle asked a question and as always Justin got it right. He walked into the common room and he sat down, staring at the fire. ((He's a pyrofanatic.))
