Yeah, that's a good point. I suppose the name "witch" has been so stereotyped that, well... rolleyes
I don't know but you seem like a very interesting person to be able to do all of that. I don't know anyone around here who can read tarot or be a good judge of character (maybe I just need to get out more, he-he).
But yeah, Psychic is what some people get called even when they're not. Some call themselves that and I suppose those are the real frauds.
I like to think of myself as an open minded individual, thank you very much! mrgreen

Say, how do you know those facts about witches? Did you read them in a book? I thought the word for the pagan healers was actually Wiccans. I think I had a friend here who was a Wiccan but I lost touch with her.

I read them in books and also I do a lot of history delving on the internet. I have a bad habit of digging up the past's dirty laundry, so to speak. Another source is documentaries. The long and short of the witch thing was that it was an excuse to be rid of people that could possibly cause the government or the church ruin, which in those times would have meant disaster.

And yeah, I made a typo, it's wiccan, though some people do say wicca (as in the practice) instead. The Catholics also formed most all of our modern holidays over Pegan festivals so that they would be more widely accepted in the Celtic areas England conquered.

Hehe, if you are open minded, I would be happy to play at reading tarot for ya, but it's easiest when both people are online. Lol. I don't claim any accuracy at all though!

Books can be great for that and now that the internet is more available to people, it seems that books get consulted even less these days.
I am not sure about that being a bad habit, the whole "digging up the past's dirty laundry", I mean.
I'm not sure what to believe with the whole "witch burning" thing. Some say it was cuz of some reason and others say it was cuz of another reason. Make up yer minds already! mrgreen

Oh, so it WAS Wiccan, eh? Cool! I believe my friend also told me about the practice of it being called Wicca, yes.

That would be nice yeah. I'll send you a PM then. 3nodding

There were a lot of reasons for witchunts and similar persecution back then, those are just the general motivation behind it. I have tons of books on that sort of thing, like one on the corruption periods of the Vatican and another on past European rulers that were far from the ideal monarch. It is interesting to read about them and see where stories came from about them.

Lucky you! They sound like a very interesting read!
Have you learned a lot from them? Do you think they are all on the level? Truthfulness wise I mean?

So far as I've seen I've noted that they are on the level with many historical events that are common knowledge in England, the rulers just weren't mentioned in the common history books. It makes more sense with this book though

You DON'T want to see what a witch looks like in The Witches movie!

Really? That's great! I feel that most concepts that are true to historic facts are more enjoyable. At least for me anyway... mrgreen

The Witches movie? You don't mean the one with Angelica Houston as the grand high witch, do you? If this is the movie you're referring to, then I saw that one a long time ago and for some reason, I haven't seen it again on cable. It was a pretty cool movie for the time!

There are many alternative histories dug up from the "losing" side of things. And since the majority of history is written by the winners, it's interesting to me to hear the opposite side.

Ah yes, the winners are usually the ones who get to tell their side in the history books, huh Ellia?

BTW, what would you say if I told you that I'm trying to come up with a story for a game about a witch who has to rescue people from a castle of legend and it's around the same time as the witch trials and stuff?

Lost in a Dream World

THE TEST: tie a witch to a chair and dump her in a lake for amount of time. if she doesnt free herself in time and dies it means shes not a witch. but if she frees herself and come back to the surfice then she IS a witch - shes then recaptured and then gets burned to the stake.

That was how they tested it back i the old days. back then anything/everything that people couldnt come up with a reason why it happened, blame it on supernatural. now days we can sciticentaly prove that since everyone is a diffterant body size means they all have diffterent lung sizes. and allso you can train yourself to hold your breath for longer.

So that means now, since we know whats happering, "supernatural" is for books, tv and films only.

Well... I don't know if this is counted as a Witch... but this is my stories perspective on it. Basically a witch is a form of Seer (Who can basically see into another dimension/universe) The Witches can see into a certain dimension, overlapping with ours. It is not see into the 'normal' seer's realm, but into another. They are known mainly from their training in magic, or mind-speaking with creatures in that universe that can make things happen (Such as "Telekinesis" or "Pyrokinesis")

I hear that Nightmare! Yeah, people were pretty ignorant and stupid back then. 3nodding
It's pretty unbelievable how we used to treat each other.

That's pretty cool Sparrow! I like all forms of kinesis myself so I can dig that. cool

I liked making it at least partially possible...
